ABILITIES:
- Cryokinesis
- Hydrokinesis
- Domain Creation (Sub-ability to create a temporary, protective domain around oneself using one of his two innate elements.)
WEAKNESSES:
- Sensitive to heat, and will suffer temporary impairment to his abilities when subjected to extremely high temperatures.
- Abilities are heavily affected by emotion ; requires constant emotional regulation to maintain control over his elements.
- Half-nymph ; sensitive to drastic changes in the environment (e.g. pollution, droughts, heatwaves)
- Needs to return to water or cold environments periodically in order to rest or recuperate and maintain energy levels.
- Regarding his domain creation abilities — it's quite small and can't really be used as a livable space unless much energy is exerted into it. It is only ever used for emergencies or situations where the host needs to protect or heal himself. In those cases, the domain can trigger by itself and cocoon the host without warning.
- The domain will manifest itself as a small floating orb of whichever element was used to create it. Unfortunately, this orb cannot be moved and will remain in place until the host is released.
- Though he can choose to trigger the domain creation itself, he cannot break free from it willingly. He must wait for his energy to stabilize or for his body to heal before the domain itself can release him. Hence why using this ability for anything other than emergencies is usually discouraged.
- The energy of the domain itself is sentient, and will not release its host if the current environment outside of it is deemed unsafe. This means he can essentially get trapped in stasis for a long time if the outside environment remains dangerous.

✶ FOR PLOTTING. I prefer plotting over winging, but I'm not opposed to the latter. Feel free to PM me if you want to plot! Sometimes I have more ideas in mind even if I don't have them written down on my profile. You don't have to have a plot before PM-ing me, I'm up for brainstorming too if that's more of your thing.
✶ TIME ZONE & PACE. GMT+8 ; I'm currently in uni with a course that runs on a trisemester schedule—that and my subject load is a mess and a half and it will probably stay that way til I graduate. So until then, my activity will be very sporadic—sometimes I can be really active, and other times I prefer simple chatting over writing long threads. I can wait for replies for quite a long time and I'm not one to poke people for them either. Also, I normally give a heads up if I'm going to be busy. So please be patient with me!
✶ OOC AGE & MATURE THREADS. 21 y/o ; I'm open to NSFW threads, moreso for angst and violence than . That said, I'm not opposed to threads, but fair warning, however: my muse for it is very, very fickle and I do need quite a bit of incentive to write it sometimes.
✶ WRITING STYLE. 3rd POV ; para to multipara ; maybe novella on a really good day.
✶ GENRE LIMITS. None that I can think of at the moment.
✶ TAGGING. Please tag my muse(s) if it's something you want me to see, even if it's in private or personal rooms. I have other threads in other places, so I'd appreciate the tag just so I don't lose track of my threads.
✶ BIG NO-NOS. Please don't poke me for replies, I normally have a tracker for my threads and will try to get to them as soon as I possibly can. If I can't, I'll be giving you a heads up in advance. Also, please remember that I get tired too ; sometimes I just want to sit around and chat instead of writing lengthy paragraphs. Rest assured that I haven't forgotten our thread, it's just that I want something a little more laid-back in the meantime.

The Story
Part I
Chapter I
As far as he was concerned, Yuanbin had been alone his entire life. He was said to have been dropped off at the orphanage's doorstep in the dead of winter, ice cold to the touch, but still alive and breathing.
He wasn't always called Yuanbin—in fact, he was an abandoned child with no name, and was never really given one despite how long he'd spent living in that rotting excuse of an orphanage. Whoever his parents were didn't want to risk ever being found, and chose to leave him in the hands of a couple that wouldn't have cared even if their manor's walls had crumbled inward and crushed them all.
It was a reality far from perfect, and it was clear that the couple had favorites. Yuanbin was not one of those favorites, and he had long since come to terms with the fact that he never would be.
But oh, how he longed for someone to hold him. Even if it was just for a second.

But oh, how he longed for someone to hold him. Even if it was just for a second.
That night, he dreamt of snow. Nothing but a blinding storm of white wherever he turned. Amidst the blizzard stood a dark silhouette, hand reached out to him, a gentle voice calling out—it was warm, friendly, inviting—but ultimately laced with poison. Against his better judgment, Yuanbin takes the stranger's hand.
The next morning, the boy's bed was empty, and all that was left of his presence was a pile of snow beneath his window.
Chapter II
The boy had woken up in a white cell, dimly lit with warm orange lights. He was lying on a plush bed, and a man in a pristine blue coat hovered right above his face, seemingly ecstatic now that he was conscious.
None cared to explain to him that he had been out for three whole days, or the fact that he wasn't even on home soil anymore.
This was when he first met his attending researcher — The Artifex.
He was later told that all major researchers had titles within the facility, each of them varying in specialty and rank. The Artifex, young as he was, stood high above those ranks, only second to the elusive lead researcher they called The Deus Astra.
The two were quickly acquainted with each other, and The Artifex soon gave him a name to call him by — Zheng Yuanbin. The origins of the name itself were unknown, but rumor has it that it used to belong to one of The Artifex's greatest creations before said creation had succumbed to its short lifespan.
Yuanbin, despite the fact that he was now living a life as an experimental being at 19 years old, was surprisingly very receptive. He was one of many subjects, yet he was the most docile, the most obedient, and he cooperated readily compared to most of his peers.
Perhaps it was his infatuation with The Artifex that made him so. After all, the researcher had always been nice to him. Indulged the boy in hopes that he wouldn't lash out during testing, and Yuanbin, who hasn't had any decent interaction with anyone his whole life—was unfamiliar with what a healthy relationship was supposed to look like—and easily mistook this for love.

Part II
Chapter I
Snow Angel — that's what The Artifex had called him the day he witnessed Yuanbin cause a blizzard inside the laboratories after being subjected to a controlled amount of emotional stress.
It was a beautiful sight, at least to him, seeing the dangerous capabilities of the boy's elemental ability contained within his cell, gazing so lovingly as if he were admiring some kind of snow globe made specially for him — the boy's lithe figure stood in the middle of it all, hair as black as night, skin as smooth as porcelain, and his eyes a soft iridescent blue. Yuanbin was pretty, so dangerously, heart-achingly pretty — as were all The Artifex's subjects. He was one of the favorites, the kind of doll that The Artifex would keep behind polished glass on the topmost shelf, out of everyone's reach.
Because this was what he was good at. Building pretty things. Aiming for perfection. Never settling for less. He collected them like dolls, working until he could put them on display.
But despite the over-exertion and the exhaustion gnawing at his bones, Yuanbin was happy as long as The Artifex was, too.
He hadn't stop calling him his 'beloved snow angel' even after the testing, and those words alone were more than enough to coat Yuanbin's heart in oil. He desperately wanted to believe that he was special to The Artifex — even as he watched the other turn his back on him, filing away his documents like he did with everyone else's, before moving on to his next subject.
He just had to be somewhat special, at least. Because one day, he remembers The Artifex acquainting him with one of his other subjects. And despite his initial disinterest, Yuanbin finds out this new friend of his was supposedly his personal bodyguard of sorts, one that The Artifex himself had appointed for his safety.
Yuanbin learns one day that his guardian's name was Sungjae, and that he had a twin somewhere in the facility, though he doesn't recall ever seeing another one like him.
Eventually, the two had become inseparable once they had grown closer, much to The Artifex's joy.

Chapter II
Jealousy. It burned at Yuanbin's lungs, clung to his throat like a pill he could never quite swallow. It was an ugly emotion, so unbecoming of the soft and precious Snow Angel they all knew and love. And yet it wrapped around his heart like a vice, plaguing his thoughts every chance it could. Yuanbin thought he might just die.
The Artifex was never his to begin with. If anything, he was the one who belonged to the researcher.
But jealousy was a beast that even Yuanbin's carefully regulated self couldn't control. It caused him to lash out at the other subjects, the other researchers, and the facility staff — all because he could no longer bear seeing The Artifex pay attention to someone else.
His health deteriorated rapidly. He refused to eat or drink. Sungjae worried for him so much that he had been the one to call The Artifex over. And only when the researcher himself had addressed him, gently caressing his face as he held a spoon to his mouth did Yuanbin comply, finally appeased.
But his happiness didn't last long. After all, he wasn't the only subject in the facility.
Despite Sungjae's best efforts to keep his mood from souring, bitterness and betrayal ate away at Yuanbin's heart until there was nothing left. He yearned desperately, yet received nothing in return, no matter how much he pushed himself during training. He starts to wonder when and where it all went wrong. Suddenly, he was never good enough. Unsatisfactory. Imperfect. Lacking. He was getting pushed away, thrown to the side, getting replaced, replaced, replaced—
Until one day, he could not take it anymore.

Chapter III
Yuanbin made a run for it.
His cell had been neglected for the umpteenth time that month, the door practically begging to be pushed open. The Artifex came around less and less, and only sought him out for testing. It would be fine, he had convinced himself prior to his escape.
He wouldn't miss me, anyway.
When he was finally out in the back fields of the facility, he ran through its forests, cut an icy gap through their borders, until he came upon an empty road. And even then, he hadn't stopped running. Determined to get away without asking anyone for help.
Yuanbin doesn't remember what happened after — that certain part of his life almost completely blurred from memory.
He does remember returning to Korea, with Sungjae who had surprisingly appeared by his side despite having no recollection of leaving with his guardian. Another facility had taken them in temporarily at that time, but Yuanbin lasted a total of seven days within its walls before the two mysteriously disappeared into the night without a word.
Nowadays, the two of them were back to being inseperable. Though their dynamic had always been that way, Yuanbin felt a little sorry for him — he wanted Sungjae to live for himself, but knew the other was practically bonded to him for life as his personal guardian. Sungjae would forever loom over him, always orbiting, and Yuanbin had no choice but to get used to it. But all would be fine, the older was his only friend, after all. In this world, they only had each other.
So they stayed together no matter what — despite being unable to settle, always having to move, always in one place after another, the nature of their job another reason for their constant travel.
Sometimes, Yuanbin would feel torn between his heart's desire to return to its master and his want for freedom, but he ultimately chose the latter (after much pleading on Sungjae's side) — even if it pained him to do so.
But no matter where he went, there was always this indescribable feeling of dread crawling up his skin, almost as if someone was watching him. He knew Sungjae had a tendency to orbit around him, but this one was different — the gaze plastered to the back of his head felt too heavy, maybe a little sinister even.
Like that of a man who had just realized what he had lost. Always yearning for him. Waiting for his angel to return home.

personality traits
( + ): Obedient and loyal to his attending researcher, The Artifex. Actually quite sweet and pliant—but again, moreso to his researcher than anyone else. Quiet yet productive when told to be so. Doesn't fight or showcase any violent behavior towards other researchers. Very environment-oriented ; loves morning sunlight, walking through forests, and sitting by the lake at the back of the facility.
( - ): May or may not be a little aggressive towards the other subjects of his attending researcher ; cause of aggression has been assumed to be jealousy. Does not get upset often, but when he does, it's almost always self-destructive. Often overexerts himself in an effort to appeal to his researcher, and has a tendency to subject himself to isolation and deprivation when rejected.
