Background: Born in Texas to first-generation immigrant parents, Mina's childhood has been basically uneventful - her future more or less laid out as soon as she showed interest and talent in ballet. She is a hard worker, so it was evident she would train hard and go on to achieve great things in the ballet scene. In a Black-Swan-esque twist of faith, as soon as she comes of age and starts seeing the dark underbelly of the industry - her fellow dancers wilting away to hunger and bulimia, the constant pressure and contest between the dancers, stoked by directors, who saw it as an opportunity to manipulate them to work even harder for free - she begins second-guessing her career path. The ultimate drop comes when another fellow dancer, cast to be the lead role in an upcoming production, is hurt in a questionable car accident, and hospitalized, and the only thing she and their peers think of is if she would be able to dance - instead of worrying if she is alive and okay. This insanity drives Mina away as she chucks the pointe shoes and goes on to find happiness and success in other forms of dance, that she has always enjoyed - such as contemporary and hip-hop - leading her to open her own dance channel, posting videos, before getting headhunted into DSF.

The Story

Part I

Chapter I

On a particularly warm September day in 2000, the Seo family welcomed their second child - a healthy little baby they named Jiyoung. The coincidence was evident - Jiyoung was born on the exact same day as their firstborn daughter Jiwon. Where that would usually forge an unbreakable sisterly bond, in this case it created a rift.

But more on that later.


Growing up, they shared not only a special day but also an upbringing shaped by the absence of their father.
With him often away working on a ship, the sisters navigated the challenges of the missing-father syndrome together.
Their mother, a devoted administrator of a local library, raised them at her workplace, with the magic of books.
Jiyoung and Jiwon spent their formative years surrounded by the enchanting tales and knowledge found within the library's walls, fostering a deep love for literature and learning.

Through the pages of books, Jiyoung found avenues to explore worlds beyond her own, nurturing her curiosity and imagination.
 
Baby Jiyoung would grow up to be the apple of their parents' eye. In her they saw the opportunity to fix any "mistakes" they deemed they had made with their firstborn, and subsequently coddled her significantly more than Jiwon. 

And in Jiyoung's eyes, there was, and still is, no one more perfect than her sister - she looks up to her, admires her, idolizes her, want to be like her. 
Deep down, the little girl that has always been compared to her older sister, only wants to be loved for who she is, not the imprinted ideal that their parents stamped on her. But first she must find herself and learn to love the findings. 
Tidbit: Her mother chose her international name to be "Jade", considered the most important gemstone in China - representative of Heaven.
 
Chapter II

It was no secret that the Seos would never deny their baby daughter anything she required, so when she expressed desire to study abroad - at the Shanghai United International School - it was a done deal. 
So at the ripe age of 11, little pre-teen Jiyoung was shipped off to China, her father finding a course that would keep him closer to the Chinese coast, so he could visit her often. For the following 4 years, Jiyoung (here called Jade) would actively learn Chinese, dorm with schoolmates, and ignite her passion for singing. 

Upon learning that her current school had a follow-up development program with a magnet high school in the States, Jade saw in this her next dream - to visit and to live in sunny California. 
Of course, nothing was too much, if Jade wanted it - so in 2015 a 15-year old Jade Seo would move yet again, and settle in Los Angeles for the next 4 years. Following the footsteps of her studious sister, she wanted to develop her diplomatic skills more, and took up the program in International Baccalaureate, with a minor in Latin studies, where she learned Spanish alongside English. 
For good or bad though, by the end of the program, she had lost all passion for diplomacy and international politics - her childhood dream had never been extinguished and now burned stronger than ever - the boy group Alpha had just debuted and she had followed their pre-debut content, as well as their debut showcase - swallowing all media like a man starved.
When she learned that Alpha's home company - LVER Ent - is holding auditions in LA, she was the first to sign up, showing up and showing out - singing the ballad "21" by Gracie Abrams, and dancing her favourite contemporary piece for the jury. Not long after, the call came.

And thus, Jade packed her bags one last time and moved back to homeground - South Korea, where she would train for 2 years, before debuting in 2021 as the leader and main vocalist of LVER's first ever girl group - Venus. 

Now, 3 years down the line, she can easily say - it was the best decision of her life.

Chapter III - bulletpoint headcanons
  • Second oldest in Venus and is very attached to the oldest - Haera, they also share a room in the dorm.
  • Jade is the only one that can calm Wonhee down, she only listens to her.
  • The relationship between the Seo sisters is bad - Jiwon feels like Jade is the favourite child, feels robbed of her own birthday, feels like Jade always got whatever she wanted, such as education abroad, while Jiwon had to go to a community college
  • Jade is a severe sleepwalker.
  • During her time in China, she really got into astrology and zodiacs, and has a collection of crystals.
  • She has many studs for her tongue piercing, but her favourite one is the butterfly one. During live shoots and schedules, she wears a translucent stud, so it's not easy to spot, but that will still keep the piercing open, as tongue piercings close very quickly.

Read Before You Approach Me

✶ FOR PLOTTING. love plotting, sometimes more than roleplaying lmao. i love having connections between the characters, or have them know each other from before, because "just met" meetings are kinda cringe, unless they are executed well, of course. 
fear not to hit me up in PMs and go crazy. and when i say go crazy - i mean go crazy, i like crazy outlandish ideas, they make my brain turn on and work for the good good. the more you give me, the more emotion i feel from you - the more interested i will be and the more ideas my brain will spout.
I promise, it's gonna be fun.  all that said - im fine with winging too, if you hit me up out of the blue ic - i will probably respond, and still at some point in our wing, i will resort to pms or ooc room to ask you about a certain detail.

✶ TIME ZONE & PACE. Timezone is GMT, and pace is hectic. i work and live, so rpr is a hobby than it is a job, i keep my replies up to capacity.
Be aware that i do work a full time job and enjoy having a personal life outside of rpr, so i am scarcely active and also semi-awkward to interact, especially if i don't trust/like people, and i trust very hard.

✶ WRITING STYLE. usually i mirror my writing partner, but generally i would prefer if replies are reasonably short - i don't do multipara, and for para i have to be in the mood, or you should really be good enough to put me in the mood. on the plus side I'm perfectly fine with any pov, as long as we understand each other.

✶ GENRE LIMITS. Hard limits: anything involving feet, armpits, body hair, agere, weapons, bodily fluid, , and anything that includes minors, age gaps, degradation.
I will not even roleplay a "crush" with you if your character is young enough to not remember the y2k craze.
