This whole thing about being " in character " with your face claims in rp isn't all that legitimate. Now i've been in both nonau and au places, and just now did realization hit that we actually break chara often. (especially in a chat room) We seem to build our charas more on ourselves, and not for who we need them to be, whether in a nonau or au setting. So why is there even such a thing as " out of character "? Most of the times we don't freakin use brackets when we talk to people in ooc. In fact, everything blends together! People take everything and anything you post and just go with it. Really no one bothers to be stingy and differentiate between what is spoken ic and ooc.

Merely all we do is hide behind the persona of our chara whilst we continue to be ourselves past the curtains. No matter how hard you're trying to be in character. Maybe this is why most people get along with each other well in the rp community. Us as users are bonding through the connections we make with our personalities. Some of us feeling accepted for who we are from those we befriend through here and not in the real world. If you ask me, face claims don't really matter! Unless you're doing some actual and serious roleplaying where your face claim has it's own personality and whatnot, then that's different. But how is it do you think our charas fall for each other within an rp? It's the bonds that are built past the persona! I guess you can say we fall in love with each other except it's not exactly us; it's who we are playing as. Same person, different faces.

Here's something that grinds my gears when it comes to facechasers, though. All they care about is your face claim (obviously), BUT, do you think they geniunely care about you as a person? Not really. They just have a bias, and if they like your face, well, they like your face. That's it. Hence why they tend to ignore other people, and unfortunately no matter what you say or do; subconsciously they'll just go with it so they can still be in your company. They're honed in too much on who your chara is to care about more important things. Sad, isn't it? Well, this is what I personally perceive to be the truth on the issue.

As for those you come across in the rp community that you don't get along with? It's no different than irl when you go to socialize. We'll stumble upon people who clash with us, and that's just how it is. They don't like you for whatever reason nor do you like them for whatever reason.

In conclusion; the rp community is basically a 2nd society. We'll meet people, we'll create friendships, possibly find love, get involved with drama, make enemies, experience both good and bad times that'll become memories for us to look back on, reunite with past individuals that we missed, etc.

No wonder I like roleplaying so much.

True to be honest.

the only thing for me.. i usually hardly ever break ic/ooc boundaries. sure, in the ic chat i'll be like "heading off to work" or "man i have a headache" but very seldom do i roleplay a character that is anything like me. my characters are strictly in character when in the ic chat, or any roleplay rooms.

i dont know-- i definitely agree with you in some cases, but not always is it cut and dry like that, you know?
