the first time i joined a roleplay was when i was 13 years old. it was on facebook and it was super active and vibrant. it was full of life and most especially, people actually roleplayed. i'll get straight to the point. what the hell happened here? i mean, come on people. I'm not the only one who noticed this, right? roleplaying is a dying art. now, i don't know if i'm just on the wrong platform or i'm too busy now because of my job but everything is dying on it's own but people are actually still going to this site. what on earth do people do here? just talk to friends and etc.? because i'm rarely seeing people actually roleplaying. am i in the wrong roleplay then? is it more active if it's semi-crack or ? what happened to the au roleplays. did everyone die? i don't understand anymore. i wanna roleplay but i feel like rpr is slowly being lowered to it's grave. if you think i'm wrong, post me some active au roleplays. i'd like to join please because omfg.

people only want to interact with their friends or biases and popular characters. most rps now are just cliques that hop from rp to rp and usually only want to talk to each other thus rps just become chat rooms and nothing else.

tbh i just got back into rping (used to rp on dreamwidth back in 2011 lol) and i can understand your frustration completely. i feel like ppl on rpr prefer immediate replies versus slow ones done via plotting. that's why ic chatrooms and spam rooms are so active in comparison to other rooms. i'm guilty of this ngl :(
i'm in a couple of active au roleplays if you're interested. is there a particularly type of au you like?

a lot of it is being in the wrong roleplays (like nonaus, no one rps there these days), and currently a lot of ppl are dying bc finals -- but there's going to be a few aus opening soon so you should definitely give a look into those! i'd be down to rp with any charas (even in nonaus hehe)
