Question for the ages

So as I working on a fanfic I keep having this debate with myself. How long is too long for a chapter? At what point in time do readers get overwhelmed specifically with the amount of text they see on the screen vs a physical book? 5 pages, 7, 15? I'm not sure myself as long as the text is fascinating and engaging I'm ok with reading it. I've always been a firm believer every chapter should end once one essential question to the previous chapter has been answered. Idk, what do you guys think? What do you as a reader prefer?

well, personally I say a chapter doesn’t need a specific number of pages, what I believe is actually the same as you just said the opposite way, every chapter ends with a quest the next chapter should answer..

but if you need a specific number I say anything between 4000 and 6000 words.. some would think that is too much and prefer a length of only 3000 words..
