From a Past Roleplay as: Choi Siwon - Werewolf

He laid face down on the ground, pools of a warm liquid surrounding him. He knew without even cracking an eyelid what it was. Blood. The blood of his family, his friends, his lover, his pack. All dead save for him. He hadn’t escaped unscathed, he was sure his own body had contributed to the scarlet bath engulfing him as it leaked his life fluid on to the ground. His breath came in shallow wisps. He struggled to push himself up on his hands and knees while every muscle in his body ached and screamed in protest. He gathered every ounce of his courage and prepared himself for what he was about to endure. He opened his eyes and brown orbs took in the sight that he knew he would never be able to unsee.

The lifeless corpses of everyone he’d ever known strewn about in front of him. Some so grotesquely mangled they were unrecognizable, others seem to be staring directly into his soul. Judging him. Condemning him. Punishing him for what he’d done. A strangled noise escaped from his throat as he fought back the tears that threatened to overtake him. It was a wasted effort as his strong frame was wrecked with the effects of his uncontrollable sobs. He’d lost control and now he was alone. He looked to his immediate left and caught sight of the pastor whose heart he had ripped from his chest. The man had come to them to ask for protection from the bloodsuckers, not realizing it’d be his undoing as the young wolf lost himself in the full moon. He pried the holy book from his cold hands, dead men don’t have any use for books, but lone wolves have plenty of time to kill. In the wake of his wrongdoings, reading seemed like a good hobby to take up.

Choi Siwon hadn’t expected to gain anything from his morbidly acquired Bible. After all it was written by humans for humans to explain occurrences they couldn’t wrap their heads around. Things they couldn’t comprehend before the “supernatural” had become an accepted truth. That was what he was taught to believe about their so called religions. But with every page turned Siwon found himself falling deeper and deeper into the hype until evolved from hobby to lifestyle choice. He was calmer. He was wiser. And most importantly, he was in control at all times. The moon nor the wolf owned him anymore. He belonged to his God.

(( The tense of the rest of the piece conflicts with that of the last paragraph.

Contrast is invaluable especially when the setting is morbid or disastrous

Creating presence from acknowledging absence is a tool. ))
