Since Minhyun was young, he was interested in singing. According to his parents, he had quite a talent for it even at a young age, despite his voice at first being quite.. well, weird sounding. Despite that, there was just some sort of feeling that couldn't be explained in his voice that was just very unique and nice. As his parents could see how passionate Minhyun was about singing, they recommended for him to participate in a competition that was held in the downtown, busy area of Busan. Minhyun was very hesitant because of his shyness, but he decided to do it anyways since he enjoyed singing, and his parents were even giving him a chance. Not a lot of kids would have such supportive parents, he thinks. Minhyun doesn't win that day, ending up 4th (which was sad, because if he was third he would've at least got a trophy), but surprisingly, before he leaves the venue, escorted by his parents who are trying to make his spirit rise a little, a male comes up the three of them and gives his contact information, saying that he's a casting agent for an entertainment company and that he'd like to have Minhyun audition for the company. Really, Minhyun’s only 13 at this point but for a thirteen year old, he was quite mature. He could probably live alone if he wanted to, since he knows how to cook and can clean up after himself (Minhyun really can't survive without cleaning up messes, which was a great thing about him) and all things like that. But still, the idea of sending their kid of to Seoul made his parents hesitate. Did they doubt it'd be a great experience for him? No, that's not the case, did they doubt that Minhyun could be trusted? Again, as explained earlier that's not the case earlier. It's just that their parent hearts can't help but worry a little, as the two of them sit down in the living room, pondering over whether or whether not to contact the casting agent again. It's when they are in the silence that suddenly gets broken, that is the moment they come to an answer. Right now it's late in the night, but the sudden sound was clearly the sound of Minhyun singing. Was he really practicing even now? That made them realize that well, Minhyun had quite a passion for this. If it's what Minhyun wants, they should support him and usher him on towards his dreams. After all, his oldest brother had went off to Seoul for university, so it's not like they had nobody there to check in with him if it was necessary. And that's how Minhyun became a trainee at the young age of 13, under a small company after the audition and went quite smoothly, and it had seemed like he had somewhat charmed the judges for the audition, too. He had been quickly moved into a dorm which practically was like just small rooms for each person residing it in, despite the acoustics being good in there, it was stuffy. But what could he expect? It didn't really matter to him at the time anyways. As long as he was able to sing and practice, he was fine. An innocent child, he was at the time. They had vocal lessons, as well as dance lessons but they weren't too frequent, but their teacher was nice enough to record videos for them to study off of instead. Trainee life in general was hard, as the dorm only had one area with actually enough space to dance, which was the living room. There was a kitchen too, but it wasn't that big and you'd probably hit your feet on the counter multiple times if you tried to dance there. (Minhyun knows from personal experience) Since he was the newest trainee and also the youngest, the older trainees used to force him out of the living room whenever he was practicing there, using their seniority as an excuse. Minhyun at first was devastated, until he realized that he'd just have to stay up late until they were back in their rooms sleeping and practice dancing that time instead, due to that, he improved in both skills quickly, compared to others who gave up on practicing either one for the sake of improving in the other skill. Needless to say, when the monthly evaluations came up, Minhyun topped them since he was quite balanced and his voice had developed much since around the year or so he had been there, the weird sounding aspect of it being slowly eliminated leaving behind a prettier voice, the more time went on. And as he struggled and went on like that, it finally happened, what he was waiting for the whole time. At the age of 16, the trainee’s supervisor had approached him, telling him that they had wanted to debut him, finding his skills worthy of debut. They had approached him to ask if he'd prefer being in a group or solo, and he with no hesitation chose solo. Minhyun knew the way the others talked about him, gossiping and saying insults behind is back.. Even if they acted nice now, he wouldn't be able to forget back then and it would just all mess up the teamwork. He'd definitely prefer solo over a messy team, for sure. And he had thought that'd be it. He'd work hard for the album preparations and release his solo debut song and he'd be a superstar, his hard work acknowledged everywhere. That was a total misconception. It couldn't even rank in the top 100, what sort of superstar? It let him down, but he decided that he'd reach the higher levels soon, right? He'll just continue on for now, until he could be a better and more popular artist. The thing is, that time never seemed to arrive. He had seen more and more singers debut and succeed, but he was just left behind, his new albums or singles always getting overshadowed. His company knew he was failing, but did nothing to help him except tell him he should pursue something else to hopefully boost his singing career with new fans gained from seeing him in that other thing. Minhyun didn't want to be that desperate, but he knew it was all that was left for him to save his career. So he did it, deciding to try acting as he wasn't horrible, and he did it, went to a bunch of auditions. It seemed like he was just getting turned down no matter what though, I mean, why would you take a kid with no popularity anyways when actual stars are willing\ to be in your drama? However, as he was about to give up, a last opportunity came his way in the form of a recall. It was for a side character, but honestly that much was a great offering to him. But it came to him as he went in there that for an acting recall, he wasn't doing much of acting.. Instead, the person said that if Minhyun granted a “favour” for him, he’d give him the role. Of course, since he was desperate he agreed immediately, but after the judge had said what it was.. Minhyun regretted accepting it the second after he said it, the despair sinking into him as soon as he accepts it. That night, as he treads himself back into bed, he cries himself to sleep. It was sacrifical of him to do that, but as when he wakes up the next day with puffy eyes, he gets a call from his manager saying that he got the role. He hates that day, but at the same time willingly puts himself into repeat situations of that so it could help him grab more roles. All of those small roles he got through these bad ways pulled off though, each role boosting his popularity more, allowing him to make more comebacks and have money for it. But it really paid off when a year ago, he had received an offer for a lead role in a hit producer’s drama, and the drama had become quite successful, his popularity soaring up after that. Now his fanbase is quite big, his songs actually do chart on digital charts now, and his physicals don’t in sales either, making it so that he doesn’t need to struggle anymore. That’s something Minhyun is just so thankful about, to be honest. After all the years of struggling, he finally understands what being a true star feels like. The boost in popularity caused him to even sign with a new label who could actually take good care of him and his career, which makes him feel somewhat accomplished.

Minhyun’s personality is usually a quite soft and gentle one. Minhyun is usually shy, all of the years going into mostly practicing not involving a lot of others in it made him become awkward like that. He’s actually very caring to those he’s close too though. Minhyun has a more sad or edgy side too, where he seems a lot more rude and cold. To make him like this though, you’d have to annoy him a lot.
