Background

•.*★ secret。 a girl who never saw the light of day.

Born to a celebrity couple, Choi Yena’s life started off in a secret locked off VIP ward of a large hospital in Tokyo. Her birth was to be a complete secret, because nobody could know the Korean heartthrob actor Choi Sanghoon and Japan’s first love, solo idol Yoshida Mayumi were in a relationship, nonetheless that they had children together. So what they had to do to hide it was, well… birth the girl in a secret closed off hospital room, take the newborn out of there using a hidden exit and bring her to the secret mansion-like house the two owned on the outskirts of Tokyo. Yena, or rather Yua as she was called at the time, grew up within the boundaries of this house, never seeing more of the outside world than the grass outside the window. The only people she interacted with were maids and nannies hired to take care of her, and if she was lucky she would see her parents here and there - mostly her mother, as her father didn’t have a reason to be in Japan most of the time. When she finally became of school age, it was decided her parents would just use tutors to homeschool her.

Yua remembers crying her eyes out for at least an hour after hearing that news, because she had grown so curious about the life outside that was displayed through all the shows and media she saw. School life always looked so pretty and special, but she wouldn’t be able to go out even for that..

While the girl really did love all the staff who took care of her, both being barely able to see her parents and not having any friends near her age made her very lonely, and to her, there was nothing they could do to fix that. It was a time where it was hard to find her smiling genuinely, all of her smiles were just to stop others from worrying about her. Her mother even got many reports of the girl just sitting near a window and gazing out of it while mumbling to herself as if she was possessed. It just... wasn’t a very interesting or happy time for the girl, at all.

•.*★ new land。 a flower of happiness blooms.

When Yua became a bit older, her parents’ trust in the girl’s own filter and knowledge of their situation allowed them to make the big move of sending the girl with her favourite nanny on a boat ride to South Korea to meet with someone they knew she would match with just perfectly. Unknown to the girl, the person that greeted her when they left the boat was a boy with a bright smile who only seemed a few years older than herself. She wondered who this boy could be, and why she was sent to see him.. and, somewhat embarrassingly, she does remember hiding from him - however that was just because she was so used to not seeing any unfamiliar faces that this whole travel thing was overwhelming.

To her shock, he introduces himself as her older brother. She is clearly taken back from this information, as while she was in Japan nobody even muttered that fact to her. He, on the other hand, is completely calm despite only learning about this information just days ago too. “I don’t expect to know everything mother and father do.. they’re busy after all, so.. Even if I wanted to know about my cute lil sis, I couldn’t have brought myself to bug them about it.” He mentions, almost nonchalantly with a smile on his face. The younger girl can’t help but admire the older’s composure and patience.. she wanted to be someone like that too, someone who’s not a burden at all but is rather a comforting presence.

From that day on, Yua ends up sticking to her brother like glue and is introduced into their Korean family house, which is a lot smaller than the huge mansion she used to live in-- but the girl is quite satisfied, because this was a house she could actually exit, so the space inside didn’t matter to her at all. Looking at just how satisfied and rejuvenated the younger girl looked like in this place with her brother, her nanny contacted her parents and convinced them to let her move in and live here instead.

Since both of their children were old enough now to know how to cover up their parents’ identities by themselves, they let the two go to public school rather than force them into homeschooling. This was the start of Yua adopting her Korean name Choi Yena as her main alias, as her brother did too and it would just be simpler to use a Korean name in Korea, after all. They both went to school just fine, and they both tried their best in whatever - for Yena, her socially deprived early years made her both easily shy but also very determined in making friends, which she ended up successfully doing. She was doted on at home by her older brother, and that feeling was enough to make her a walking ball of sunshine to everyone she met from then on.

After a year or so, however - the Yena who always was playfully stuck to her brother was gone, because, well.. her brother just wasn’t around much anymore. She remembers enquiring him on why he came back so late one night, and he responded “because of training” - Yena had no clue what he meant, until she looked into it more and learnt about idol trainees. She was intrigued because that meant there were people around her age that were preparing to become someone like her own mother… it was starting then that Yena started to get more invested in idol culture and began to invest more into dancing and singing than she would with other ordinary hobbies.

Over the years, Yena remembers seeing her brother at his lowest lows while he was training and even after his debut. If lows were that low, yet people like her brother and mother still wished to pursue it until the end -- just how high must the highs be? How rewarding must that feeling of being on the stage and success feel? Really, everything she witnessed were like bright red flags shoved into her face, yet she wanted to go past those and explore this for herself anyways.

Yena got to see a lot of stages from up close after her own brother debuted and was the one always standing on those stages, and she really felt it more.. the thrill of the stage. The more she was near the stage, the more she fell in love with the experience of watching stages and imagined more about what performing and having all of those eyes on her would truly feel like. Even if she noticed how her brother suddenly got more distant and started being less transparent with her - she would just say it’s because of the tiredness and busyness this job brings into your life, not anything else about it that could affect someone.

She’d soon become a trainee just to really get close to feeling this for herself, and she’s in the middle of training when.. .

•.*★ 知らないだけど、ね?LOVE ME!  the truth is known and she is revealed.

The news hits. By the time it does, she’s already a trainee in her second year, training towards a strong performance based group under a big company. Her name is still rather unknown in the public eye, it only being associated with her constant appearances next to her older brother when he was still taking care of her here and there at his stages. However.. Her name becomes a trending topic on that day, although nothing as crazy as her brother’s rank in the realtime searches.

The news that projects them into this huge trending topic -- it’s her parents’ sudden announcement of the truth. Their announcement of their marriage, and the truth about having hid it all this time.. and the passing mention of having children too. The backlash is severe -- partly due to the tensions between Korea and Japan, and another part because they’ve been lying long enough for their children to become adults. In fury, people on the internet went searching for any clues of who their children are, and sadly it didn’t take them long to find her brother, and in connection, her. It’s not like they chose to be born in a family where they had to hide where they came from, yet that anger got displayed towards them too. They were all strong words, but Yena tried to heed no attention to them - because she was sure it wasn't her fault. It’s not like she doesn’t have a bit of resentment towards her parents left in her, so why does she need to suddenly get all nice about it and read these comments about her as if she was part of planning this?

So, Yena tries to smoothly move on - until she’s dropped from her company at the time. They say it’s because Yena’s name was too controversial to want to put her into the debut line -- and gosh, she knows that that sort of scandal is a big deal, but why does it have to come up in her face so much? She has a hard time finding a new agency to train with after that, to the point that she’s about to give up when she finally finds STR Entertainment. After about another year of diligent training under them, she debuts in the girl group Oasis.

Because she’s already experienced years of sadness, and toxicity being thrown at her - right now, Yena’s main objective is just to perform as much as possible for the people who really /do/ love her.

Before You Approach Me

•.*★ important。 Try to have something in mind and read my profile before actually talking to me about roleplaying. If you'd like, send me a random starter! I actually love 'em! And the more unique or out of the box, the better.

Writing & Plotting Style

•.*★ writing style。 I do script and para to novella. Script is generally done in 3rd pov, while para is done in 1st or 3rd pov. Lengthwise, I try to mirror, but I can get carried away fairly easy, so it's not guaranteed.

•.*★ plotting style。 I prefer winging over plotting most times, but I can plot. Because of this, I'll often do vague-ish plots that provide enough detail for you, but also give me enough room to play with our ideas. I also don't typically approach people unless I have a plot or idea in mind, and I really like when people do the same. Saves a lot of time.

To be honest, I also like writing starters and will most times if I know what I'm doing and if it makes sense for me to do it, but don't shove them on me. I get burned out doing so at times.

•.*★ overall。 I'm very flexible about how we actually rp and will work at your pace if possible. Like, I can do one lining script all the way to novella, in both 1st and 3rd pov. I'm really chill with whatever you wanna do!

Activity & Reply Speed

•.*★ important。 I will never poke you. Never poke me or I will ragequit/ignore you. You also don't need to remind me about me owing you a reply. I usually remember who I'm roleplaying with. Also refrain from using my activity or lack of it as an excuse to pester me about a reply. Doing like that will just annoy me and make me prolong sending something if I send something at all.

I'm usually very slow with my replies, sometimes because of the length, but sometimes because I'm just slow to do them. We can always drop/pick up our thread(s), but make sure you communicate with me. Also know that I might be active in the chat infrequently or a lot. I'm not a very consistent person when it comes to this.

Location Preferences

Honestly, I'll roleplay anywhere I can. I like rooms, walls when I'm busy, and I'm okay with PMs. Most plots I do are public friendly too, and when they aren't, I take them to PMs.
