BACKGROUND
! WARNING !  mentions of (tamed) assassination and death

A red trail of blood trickled down from the first consort torso to the bedsheets But that was not the only thing that fell. So did Minkyung's expression and teardrops.
A blood-stained sword pierced directly through her mother's heart, cutting off oxygen supply from the aorta. The pale corpse laid flat, her body covered by the silk duvet, and her body temperature began to decline until it was in unison with the surrounding air. As chilly as a winter night.
At the age of nine, Minkyung was heading to her mother's bedroom, eager to listen to her bedtime story before being in her arms and coaxed into deep slumber. The sight that welcomed her, however, was not her pleasant mother awaiting for her arrival, but her weak mother coughing blood out, to whisper her last words to Minkyung.
 ' Darling, I love you but y-your f..f ather...'
And just like that, her mother's breath, the time, came to a halt. A standstill.
Witnessing the passing of her mother was heartwrenching, and nothing comparable to the bloodshed at the battleground Minkyung had grown accustomed watching. The princess, once unfazed by the gruesome death of soldiers who fought hard, crumpled apart realising her mother was assassinated by someone. What did her last words mean? Minkyung was left hanging, body trembling as she noticed the contrast of the maroon pool of blood against the silk bedsheets. It took her awhile to remember... it was red... blood and she wasn't colourblind or seeing it wrongly. A horrified shriek soon reverbated against the four alabstrine walls of the royal chamber. And she was escorted away, calmed down by her mother's palace maids while your father was devising what excuse to give to justify her mother's death.

``
Born in a dynasty where the Guri Kingdom was the juggernaut amongst all, princess Minkyung was well aware that being taught to fight was one of the basics as a royal child. Arrows, bows, spears and swords, there wasn't a weapon she was unfamiliar with. In 1995, a baby's wailing was heard in the palace and the Kingdom had successfully won against the others. Elated at the news of the birth of first consort princess, and taking her as the lucky charm that brought about a war victory, she was named MinKyung, which meant bright, and honourable. Undoubtedly, the king adored the consort princess, putting in lots of effort to groom the princess into a fighter -- despite living in the days where the patriachy system still existed. Often assessed and trained by royal trainers,  Minkyung had the reputation of being talented in the field of fighting, and would be like her father. Agility and precision was Minkyung's forte, and there was almost nothing Minkyung did not excel at. By the mere age of eight, Minkyung was granted the opportunity to tag along the king to the royal military centre, where she watched with keen eyes how palace guards were trained, and once, was able to watch the actual conflict. To the little naive girl, Minkyung thought Guri was undefeatable with their military might, and there was nothing to be afraid of. Her father painstakingly build Guri Kingdom to where it is today, and she was full of admiration for him until one event.

All it took was that one winter night, that one death, to alter her perception for her father. The night where her heart went numb, colder than the snow falling from the sky, than her mother's cold body. Minkyung lost her mother, who had accompanied her to trainings, arranged flowers with her, massage her bruises to speed up recovery, often being the one who was there for her when she felt lonely. That night, her bedtime story was not a fairytale, but a nightmare.

Recalling her mother's last words at her deathbed, the assassination was a little too odd and suspicious for Minkyung. Within a short span of time, Minkyung seemingly got over her mother's death, carrying out her daily routine of fighting, and more fighting. Yet deep inside, disdain grew overnight for the king. The deliberate concealation of her mother's death by the royalties, claiming that her mother died excruciatingly from an illness instead, had her confused. Hushed whispers exchanged between the palace maids that the king was quarrelling with the first consort in the morning, and he may had something to do. But then again, who would dare to defy the king and call him out for his misdeeds?

From then onwards, all admiration for her father faded into ashes and vanished. Indignance and resentment resided in Minkyung's heart, and growing up, living inside the intracacies of the palace walls was beyond suffocating. Feigning pretense that she still loved and relied on her father (more), and holding onto that persona for years in order to dig out how was her father associated with her mother's death. Full of willpower, Minkyung was set out to avenge for her mother's death by repaying back, put an end to her father's reign by assassinating him.
Yet, as she digged deeper, she fell deeper into a viscious cycle of resenting and finding out more that did her no good. One fine day, speaking to her father casually after a suspenseful sword fight, she would never expect to hear her father's confession of guilt.

'You know, I really loved your mother but I had no choice but to lie about her death. I thought she loved me too, but she was a manipulative woman, selling political secrets to her brother so that her brother could takeover guri. We quarrelled over it. I did not want the people to look down on your mother, or you. I'm sorry, Minkyung.'

An unanticipated admission left Minkyung speechless. Did her life revolved around her mother's unspoken words, and subsequent lies after speaking to her soul (through haerim)? The persona that stemmed from hatred for her father shattered into pieces. Minkyung was no longer sure how to continue, or or to abandon her plot.

Who could she believe, when in the royal palace, where she grew up learning to trust no one, not even your beloved ones?

` `

Rivulets of water droplets crystallised into snow, reminding Minkyung of that winter night. Instead of resentment, Minkyung was conflicted, whether anyone ever loved her, or her mother was only pushing Minkyung to fulfil her agenda that she failed to do so personally. Exhausted would be an understatement, as Minkyung seeks solace at the temporary refuge at the island. By now, the kingdom of Guri was not the mightiest of all, and if she coud be born again, Minkyung would wish to be not born as a royal consort princess.
 pERSONALITY
To plainly sum it up, Minkyung is a woman of little words. Her tragic experience witnessing her mother's death, though she did not manage to see the culprit who assassinated the first consort had left Minkyung traumatised. Minkyung has the habit to suppress her emotions, putting up a strong front and using either fighting or escaping the palace as a form of coping mechanism. She enjoys the thrill of horse-riding, fighting, and beneath her cold exterior, she was once a soft-hearted child, which explains her occasional hesitation to carry out her plan of assassination. She's a woman who shows gratitude towards others, and thus is able to easily befriend people and repay those who have helped her. Yet, not all of these people are privileged to see her vulnerable side.

In order to get close to Minkyung, you must either, be a close affilate to her mother, to her childhood through fighting (she's closer to the palace guards and trainer) or be someone new- yet bring a sense of security to her. Minkyung may hold her guard up at first, but overtime, ultimately she desires to indulge in an escapade away from her life as a royal consort princess. You could be a non-royal, and Minkyung would still befriend you, regardless of socio-status.
