biography.

chapter one

Ok Jangmi was born and raised in a poor neighborhood of Seoul, her parents both hardworking people and extremely devout Catholics. As a yong girl she was taught to obey her elders, maintain good grades, help out her community whenever possible, and earn her keep by working jobs as soon as she was of legal age to do so — Not to mention remain a pious worshipper of God.

Although she respected her parents for doing everything in their power to keep the family afloat, grinding away at multiple jobs so they could pay the bills, Jangmi often struggled with conflicting values. She had a curiosity to explore, a spice for life outside the tiny little box she had been put in. There had to be more out there for her besides Jesus and a couch for a bed.

Her passions were first discovered when she was hosting a fundraiser for her family's church and met a lovely group of strangers. They immediately dazzled her with their happy energy, beautiful voices singing the gospel, and ecstastic dance as they rejoiced in their faith. Such liveliness was unheard of within her own church as her parents often discouraged the young girl from engaging in any such "inappropriate" behavior. Yet when her parents weren't there to see, she joined those newfound friends in their performance and soon after confessing her frustrations was invited to visit their church instead for a single sermon.

Luckily they were scheduled on a Saturday morning rather than Sunday, allowing Jangmi to tell a little white lie to her parents that she was going to study at the library that day. Instead she rushed over to the English–based church in Itaewon. Immediately it felt as though she stepped into a whole new world surrounded by a diverse congregation of races and identities, adoring the passionate sermon their pastor shared and the loud electric songs the churchgoers would sing along with the choir. For once she felt free to be herself, smiling from ear to ear and dancing with the music.

From thereon out, she knew she had a purpose. A real place where she sensed she was accepted, supported, truly belonged. If only her parents would ever accept it . . .

chapter two

Throughout highschool she continued to secretly attend the friendlier Itaewon church behind her family's backs, knowing that they wouldn't understand nor approve of their beliefs. It was through those Saturday mornings that she learned to love and accept everyone for who they are; no matter their size, shape, color, preference, anything at all. If they were good people then that was all that mattered, right?

With much encouragement from her friends at school as well as her secret church counselor, Jangmi saved enough money from her many jobs to pay for dance classes. The gospel was fine and swell, but modern music brought another rush of adrenaline into her heart. She wanted to move just like the dancers and singers she'd seen on stage, to express herself with each and every fluid movement of her body to the beats. At age 15 she joined a small dance crew who began entering battles, competitions, and performing in the streets. Slowly but surely they garnered more attention from their successes until finally two years later they were offered a chance to perform alongside a major 2nd generation Kpop group for their comeback music video.

Jangmi was beyond the moon with excitement that God, the Universe, or whatever strange figure above was dropping such a life changing gift upon her lap. There were just a few problems; She'd been keeping endless secrets from her parents for years, leading a complete double life to avoid their disapprovals.

chapter three

trigger warning: homophobia, conversion therapy camps.

The cat was out of the bag. Or, well, it was about to be. Jangmi knew she could no longer continue to hide so much from her family. She loved them despite their differences, yet struggled to reveal the fact she had even taken up modern dance let alone was about to start a potential career in the industry and had spent all her teen years thus far blossoming into a passionate progressive which would surely worry her much more traditional conservative parents.

She planned to reveal it all to them that upcoming Sunday after attending Mass together. However, the truth came crashing down much sooner than ever expected. That morning her fellow dance crew groupmate, who also so happened to be her lesbian girlfriend ever since their freshman year of highschool, had shown up at the Ok family's front door without invitation. Jangmi had made the terrible mistake of telling her girlfriend that her parents were totally happy to see them perform with idols and that everything would be okay. The poor clueless girl arrived that morning to meet the parents and have Jangmi tag along for a practice session in preparation of the video shoot.

Mr. and Mrs. Ok were completely stunned, aggressively shooing her girlfriend away as they slammed the door in her face and told her to never contact their daughter again. Jangmi was heartbroken, attempting to quickly explain the truth to them in hopes they would calm down enough to understand just how important this opportunity truly was. Yet none of that mattered. She lied, hid her relationships, and had been seduced by "sinful bad influences".

Convinced that their daughter was in desperate need of help to come to her senses and purge the sickness from her soul, they shipped her off to none other than a conversion therapy boot camp on some country ranch all the way across the Pacific Ocean in the midwest United States.

chapter four

trigger warning: homophobia, conversion therapy camps, child abuse, ual assault.

Suddenly life turned upside down as she was all alone in the middle of nowhere with only the camp counselors and other fellow teens stuck there to keep her company. The kids were forced into rough backbreaking manual labor all day every day as they cared for farm animals, cleaned the ranch, tended to crops, and suffered abuse by the very adults who were supposed to "help" them.

One counselor in particular made it his misison to "cure" her of lesbianism, forcing her to undergo psychological and physical torture as a form of socalled treatment. After four months at the camp keeping her head down and trying not to cause trouble, she finally had her breaking point after the counselor cornered the teen all alone one evening to take advantage of her. Fellow teens realized what happened after they found her sobbing and injured in the barn, cleaning her up in the aftermath. Apparently she hadn't been the first victim as they shared their own stories, leaving Jangmi's sadness to turn into outrage on behalf of her friends.

Soon Jangmi and a group of brave teens hatched a plan to escape, slowly and sneakily preparing themselves however possible to get out of that hellhole. Finally they had their chance after the eldest created a distraction for the adults to flock out of sight, giving the rest a clear opening so they could steal car keys from the counselor's office, hop over the tall prison-like fences, and steal a car so they could drive far far away. Those who escaped were reported to police as missing persons and authorities were hot on their trail, yet they managed to ditch the car and go their separate ways.

With no money and no way to reveal her identity without getting returned back to the custody of the camp, Jangmi took on the name Rose and did whatever she could to find work. She became a stripper once she turned 18 for quick cash and little questions asked, even taking on her own services with anyone wealthy enough to pay well. Once she had enough funds, she flew back home to Seoul and had an emotional reunion with the real friends she'd left behind.

chapter five

Once she was back safely at home, she picked up the pieces of the life she used to know and rebuilt them into the life she always dreamt of instead. Jangmi was an adult and able to continue working as Rose behind the scenes, making enough money to pay her own bills and push herself further into an actual professional dance career. Sugar daddies and stripping got her through paying college tuition, making connections in the entertainment industry, and creating a name for herself as a dancer.

By the time she turned 25, Jangmi was able to quit her tumultuous side hustles and focus full time on dancing. She was hired as a backup dancer for videos, stages, concerts, and events. Now with 18 years of experience under her belt she has created a much happier life of freedom. She loves her job working under a highly praised dance crew, openly expressing her identity, and having long lost contact with the people who could never accept her.

  • ooc alias: rosetea, rosie, cyber (derived from an old username). feel free to call me whatever you want !
  • ooc age: 24 years.
  • pronouns: she / they.
  • timezone: gmt–8 / pst.

writing style

i prefer detailed 1st pov (aka script) for casual threads and 3rd pov (aka para) for plot–heavy or emotional threads. i'm not picky though and will happily use whichever pov is your preference !

my reply lengths can range from semi–para to novella. i will try my best to mirror your replies, but sometimes i might give less or more. lengths will simply fluctuate and depend on my muse.

plotting

please read my profile thoroughly and have a basic plot or connection idea in mind before approaching me. i enjoy plotting, but am equally happy to "wing it" with impromptu or unplotted threads if things flow right ! i'm up for any genre and have few triggers, so the sky is the limit.

triggers

my triggers include ia or any nsfw content that involves minors under the age 18, or ual assault (cnc and dubcon is an exception), , es involving bodily fluids or bodily waste (blood is an exception), and foot es.

if your character has a triggering background or experience (for example, your character was assaulted) then i can handle discussing such topics in detail for the sake of plotting or ic conversations. please just put a trigger warning when needed. if you fail to put a trigger warning, i will give you a personal warning; if you don't put a trigger warning next time, i will drop all of our plots without hesitation.

please tell me if you have any triggers of your own before we begin plotting or roleplaying. i will always do my best to respect and be considerate of your triggers.

nsfw

i will only do nsfw threads with those who are 18+ ooc and ic. i am willing to write if there is a certain chemistry between muses, but i hate mindless that has no plot or significance to character development.

activity

i sometimes might be slow with replies. usually because the reply lengths are very long and unfortunately it requires a lot of brainpower for me to write multiple paragraphs. i could also simply be too busy ooc to get replies done quickly.

feel free to poke me for our thread(s) if i haven't given you any replies for longer than a week. even with my tracker, sometimes i may get busy and forget.

we can always drop or pick up threads for any reason. just be sure to communicate honestly with me so we are both on the same page, i promise there will be no hard feelings.

locations

i will only roleplay in public rooms. if for some reason we cannot find a public room to use for our thread, then we can roleplay in group pm as a very last resort. i usually will refuse to roleplay on walls, but i might make exceptions depending.

tracker.
