Located in a space between muggle Seoul and magic Seoul, the exclusive East Asian university of magic has existed for centuries. Myeongkwae, derived from the Korean word for "clarity and clearness," was founded long before many other universities for young witches and wizards, leading to various Asian ethnicities intertwining to influence the school's current curriculum and expansion.

Established around the same year as Hogwarts in England, Myeongkwae is unique to the magical culture of Asian ancient traditions and dubbed 'myths' by muggle Koreans. Although, after years of Asian children from across the continent attending, Myeongkwae has become a cultural blend of Asian magic.

Despite the central location in the capital city of South Korea, Myeongkwae exists on a robust island connected by the Seoul Transit system. Having been built initially as a lone village haven for magic users, Myeongkwae has since expanded and developed into a vast ocean-side school grounds made up of traditional architecture and newer additions of giant castles, temples, and other breathtakingly magical architecture.

Along with the connection to the sea, a vast forest and mountainside plains line the other side of the grounds creating a diverse geological atmosphere.

In current-day 2023, Myeongkwae is not the only magic university in Korea, or East Asia, although it is one of the most elite. Once accepted as a Myeongkwae student, you then begin one of the biggest adventures of your life, and just getting there is the first step.

you can have up to four characters per user. your first is free,  second character requires an upvote to the rp. though a third requires at least 300 points on both your first and second characters. to get a fourth, you should have a minimum of 500 points on all three characters and post a blog advertising the rp. you may have two or more fcs from the same group as long as the group has more than seven members.

profiles: after joining the rp you will be given the default profile to fill out and customize as you see fit. you must use this profile format for every character, and have up to 14 days to fill out every section with the basics. more detailed areas can be filled out over time. within the first 48 hours of joining, make sure to add a dp for every character. 

dorms/houses the dorms are divided up by four main houses: imoogi, haechi, dokkaebi, and gumiho. as long as you have two or more traits that align with the house values, you can be sorted in said dorm. each dorm has it's own theme, and specific architecture. after selecting a dorm, your character(s) will have the house-emoji added to their name regardless of their year. your character MUST live on campus in their chosen dorm throughout their time at myeongkwae. each year you will receive a new roommate(s), though the quarters stay the same. to request a specific roommate, you must tag the headmistress in the request room. roommates MUST be from the same house. Each house has their own 'secret' special spells that students can learn if they're a member of said house.

faceclaims: fcs and characters need to be 18+ ONLY. you can age up or down your character only up to 2 years older or younger, although this does not apply to 18 year old fcs. we're looking only for university-aged characters to fit the theme of the rp. no problematic fcs, married, deceased, or those who wished not to be rped. though the school location is in korea, internationals are welcome.

muse/fc hogging: none of this is allowed here. if you are suspected of hogging a fc, such as reserving the character and posting once then going inactive, bubble rping, posting only to avoid inactivity, etc, your character will get one warning before removing.  

majors: can be anything magical related or even muggle-centric. myeongkwae is like any other elite university, just with the addition of magical focus, so other 'mundane' majors are also offered here. you can change your major at anytime without alerting the admins. 

before reserving, please favorite the rp. an upvote is required only for a second character. 

godmodding is NOT allowed. you may only control your own characters, not others. please report any godmodding to the admins.

dating & marriage: despite this being an au, there isn't a dating ban here, though if you're a move-in couple please state so in your app. dating, marriage, etc is all welcome and allowed.

harry potter universe: yes myeongkwae takes place in the harry potter universe, though this is an entirely different time period and country, than the original characters. that being said, i do not want to see connections to the original characters in your apps. treat this as a separate entity. 

mature/rated content: rated content is allowed only in the specified rooms. cannon themes of violence are also allowed within reason (if it would be allowed in Harry Potter verse then it’s most likely okay here), make sure to trigger warning!  ting or sending explicit photos in rooms is not allowed, you may only in walls, dms, or requested private rooms if you are 21+. Under 21 should not be ting. 

Ooc drama is NOT allowed in any shape or form. bullying ooc is also not tolerated. ic character drama is only allowed if both parties have decided on such. please get permission from all involved before starting/creating a storyline with another character(s). 

try to be as inclusive as possible. no bubble rping, or outright ignoring other people. just be nice to every user here. your characters can have drama if you've both decided on such, but keep everything consensual. 

always review the masterlist for taken fcs before requesting, and follow the faceclaim guidelines above. character names should be your fc's name to make this easier to keep up with who is taken.
