@Kim Ahyoung Jongdae’s features lit up. He’d be lying if he said he wasn’t surprised at the girl’s offer. It was the last thing he expected, considering how timid she had been up to this point. “Hey, that’s not a bad idea! Having someone around would probably make things a whole lot easier,” he answered thoughtfully. “Do you have any experience in the kitchen?” Honestly, he didn’t know the first thing about this girl; aside from the fact that she had an aversion to strangers and a penchant for art. It was then that he realized he had forgotten to ask the most important question of all. “Wait, what am I saying?” Jongdae laughed sheepishly, his hand flying up to tweak the rim of his cap. “You don’t even know my name! Kim Jongdae, nice to meet you, but call me Chen if you’d like. It’s easy to remember. And what’s your name?”

The silence he received at first was a bit unsettling. He was well aware that the pencil meant a lot to her. In spite of her words of reassurance, Jongdae was certain that the artist wasn’t going to be very keen on continuing the conversation had he actually broken it. Once she spoke, a wave of relief washed over him. “Ahaha! I think I failed somewhere along the way if you’re more impressed by my sneeze than the trick!” Jongdae laughed widely. “But hey, if it makes for a good show, I guess it works just as well.” He mirrored her smile, glad that he was finally able to draw it out. “Not to worry, miss! There’s more where that came from!”

He reached into his shorts pocket and pulled out a deck of cards. It wasn’t unusual for him to be carrying around some sort of prop. Cards were actually pretty subtle compared to what he normally had up his sleeves, and they were a must for any party. “Here, go ahead and pick one,” he fanned the deck out with the flick of his wrist. “Then I’ll need you to write something on the front. It can be anything you like.” Jongdae held a hand over his eyes as he continued. “After that, put it back in the deck and give it a good shuffle!”
