@Park Sunyoung "Oh!" she said, suddenly remembering Luna's original question. "Snacks, as you can tell! A bunch of artsy stuff, pencils and watercolor and all that, some adorable stuffed animals," - she fished out her favorite; a tiny squirtle, and tossed it to the other girl - "a pillow, clothes, some posters, a bunch of empty notebooks, Cards Against Humanity!" - she also offered Luna to take a peek at the translated card game, including Yeri's favorite white card 'five angry ahjummas' - "my laptop, of course, some of my fave movies, and.... scary videogames! Nothing super interesting either."
Kim Yerim 8 years ago
@Park Sunyoung Something swelled in Yeri when Luna said that - something akin to butterflies, but not quite; a nervous excitement that would only burst were she to actually hear the other sing with that soft, beautiful voice. A volcano waiting to burst, except the burst would be nowhere near as deadly. Deadly to Yeri's expectations, maybe, considering she yet had no clue of what the other's singing actually sounded like. If Luna were to continue that humble air about her, the arrogant music majors could never impress her again, as she'd expect something thrice as amazing, and Luna's voice was already near the top. Ah, what a surprise she was in for~
The hugs were especially nice, Yeri noted, and surprisingly plentiful. If every day was like this, Yeri might not actually mind going to school that much (a truly shocking notion in and of itself). A bold move and unexpected, but by no means unwelcome! Honestly, Yeri would be grinning about this for days if she were less forgetful - and even so, she felt like she couldn't forget these hugs if she tried. A weird thought, but whatever. She'd analyze that strange train of thought another time, when she could afford to worry about her own feelings and what others thought of them. "N'awwww~!" Yeri exclaimed finally, tilting her head with eyes that were practically sparkling. "You're so cute! And pretty. And--" Hey, that's not what she meant to say. "No - I mean, you are!! Super pretty - I meant you and your sister, hugging. *That*'s cute." Her smile faded slightly as she subconsciously leaned in a little, aware this could be a very serious question. As much as she hated being serious with all of her not-so-tall being, some subjects deserved seriousness. Some people. "Why would you be upset after practice? Why'd your sister go to some fancy art school without you?"
Yeri heard Luna sigh but knew she didn't mean it - people liked to be complimented, though the older girl was especially shy about it. It made no sense to Yeri. If she had known someone like Luna her entire life she'd shower her with compliments daily. How could anyone not? She flushed when Luna called her cute, which was almost as dumb as the fact that no-one showered the other girl with constant compliments. Yeri was definitely no stranger to receiving flattery, so why did it matter to her now? Stupid. Biology is weird, anyway, no reason to dwell. Yet she could feel her cheeks still tinted red. "You just are! We've known each other for what, a day? And you're already acting like an unnie without looking down on me, so you care. So much. You probably give what little money you make away to charities or homeless or people you care about, you're super smart, and super talented." Yeri held up a hand. "Nope, shh, I have not heard it with my ears yet, but I heard it with my heart. Geez, that's cheesy. It's true though!" The younger girl grinned, proud of her explanation. Ha! No way to counter what she'd just said.

A giggle-turned-cackle escaped from Yeri's lips, who tried to calm herself down by hiding her laughter with a hand, folding over, then breathing in and out. "I'm sure the boys' dorm wouldn't," she managed between huffs of laughter, not expecting that kind of humor from the older girl at all. She just got better and better. "They say quitters never win," Yeri began, entirely serious as she echoed some advice she'd been given when she entered high school, "but quitting sometimes means walking the plank on a sinking ship. Sometimes... it's the better choice." A grin broke out on her face again. "Don't give up on your dream, unnie! But think of yourself, too. Eat some chocolate at the end of a bad week! I always have some with me!" she said, whipping bunny-shaped chocolate treats out of her bag. (Yeri didn't really gain weight - something she felt grateful for, hearing whispers of diets and starvation exchanged between classmates. Grateful for a lack of pressure in a place almost every girl was 'supposed' to feel.)

She pouted slightly at the notion of 'no distractions', as she knew herself to be all distractions - both being constantly distracted herself and, in doing so, distracting others. Not that that was good, but Luna seemed a bit extreme in having no distractions at all. "Well," she begun, souning slightly defensive before smiling again, "Lucky you have me! I won't hesitate kidnapping you just for distracting, fun things. People need that, you know? You can only concentrate for thirty minutes at most!" Yeri studied by studying in five to ten minute sessions, and though she wasn't top of her class, she was wayyy above average. Doing better in school than people who went to eight cram schools would just make her feel bad, though never as bad as she felt for those poor things. Another reason why she tried to make school as fun for everyone else without getting expelled. She was well-liked for a reason.

@Kim Yerim Luna's mind began working when the girl encouraged her about her singing. It felt good, she couldn't deny it, to be told she was good. Her family dynamic has always been very competitive, the reason being because they were all in the same industry, all defending the same name. Only the best of the best could come from the Park family..and Luna was the youngest, always the one who had to improve . What difference it caused to be told to improve with a scowl decorating their features other than a sweet smile.
AT the shy request to sing, Sunyoung instantly knew she couldn't deny Yeri that - with her cuteness and obvious but genuine curiosity. "Neh, of course I'll sing for you sometime. Just ask me to sing whenever you wish, cutie" She answered her while letting herself reach over with a gentle hand, petting Yeri's hair kindly.
At the notion her hug-less life being called dumb, Sunyoung bursted out in a laugh. She had to shield the sound with the back of her hand before boldly taking the initiative to hug Yeri herself. "Why thank you~ I always thought it was dumb for no one, not even my family, to hug each other. My twin sister and I would hug each other when we were upset after practice, but that's about it..she's also in a prestigious school, only for performing arts students, and I don't get to see her as often as before. I'm glad I found my hugger here." She said with a little knowing smirk and let go of Yeri to let her finish.
Luna sighed out playfully when being called the best once more. This girl really did like complimenting her. It was cute, but Luna still had no idea how to respond to it adequately, especially after being told for years that she was the exactly opposite - with the competition of her older siblings, and own father, that is. "You are cute Yeri, the cutest of everyone I've met here. But I'm still not understanding how you see me as the best." A gentle smile framed her lips as she took Yeri's hand once everything was finished, leading them back to the room. Only an hour or two together and Luna was already feeling protective of the girl like a younger sister - the younger sister she never had the chance to have nor take care of.
Back on the bed, Sunyoung began to unpack her things as she sat on the floor for better access to her belongings. The bombarding of questions were beginning to make her smile, it was beginning to feel normal, sweet. "I brought the usual things. Dance clothes, throat medicine for those rough singing days. Ah, of course clothes, society would shoot me if I didn't present myself to them in clothes." She glanced over with her joking eyes and smirk, already feeling comfortable enough to let go of her earlier worries. She knew Yeri was genuine and kind - someone she immediately wanted to keep as a friend. "I brought a few photos of my family..they're my motivation to keep going. Even if I want to quit because of the pressure, I have to be like them. I have to make them proud. So I look at the pictures to slap myself into reality again and keep trying hard. I didn't bring food..dancers aren't really suppose to eat anything bad, despite how much I love chocolate. My father would die if he knew." She muttered with a soft chuckle, already invisioning the scene. "I'm kind of a boring person, Yeri...I didn't bring anything fun so I wouldn't be tempted to not go to practice.." She said said with a little smile towards her, the disappointment in her eyes, mixed with a tinge of sadness, tiredness of this kind of life, a little bit of everything. "What kind of things did you bring??"
Kim Yerim 8 years ago
@Park Sunyoung After they'd mixed the ingredients together, they poured them into the shape, put it in the fridge and let it sit.

Back to square one, back to mindlessly sitting on her own bed as she stared at the one opposite hers. Oh! Luna said she could ask questions. Of course, being told you can always wipes every single possible question from mind. Jinxed. Maybe... "What'd you bring? Anything special? Special pillows, food, manghwa, DVDs?" She quickly added, "You can ask me stuff too! Give and take, yeah?"

@Park Sunyoung "It's okay," Yeri said, not minding nearly enough to warrant the little stutter there. "You didn't know!" As cute was it was, she found it strange when others stuttered around her. She was comfortable most of the time, so she often had a hard time figuring out why others weren't. Sometimes it was obvious - older boys with heated cheeks, skin too pale, sometimes with strong features, sometimes with oversized glasses muttering something about going out later that week and, um, m-maybe you'd l-like to uh, c-come w-with me? just us and yes, I'd love to, silly, and it rarely working out, because her cheeks weren't heated and she didn't stutter. Other times it was because of something she said, but she was never certain which part of the sentence was responsible.
Asking so many questions would make anyone feel obnoxious, but Luna's kind and patient answers dimmed those self-deprecating feelings in no time. "I'm sure you're absolutely amazing," she told the older girl in earnest. "But you can always improve! That's what charms the public, too - someone they can grow with. There's no end base, you just... keep improving." Yeri's mind wandered to the idea of catching Luna in practice, singing softly to herself in the sweet, gentle voice that the younger girl was growing more and more fond of every time the older one spoke. "Uh, unnie? Would you mind, ah," - she giggled, almost catching herself stuttering; why was she giving herself a hard time over this? - "Unnie, will you sing for me? Not now, but. Would you?" She blamed it on barely knowing the other, sudden shyness like her sudden moods. Teenagers, right? Moody and mindless and messy. Her head reared immediately at Luna's genuine laughter; she felt her own eyes crinkle at the corners. That settles that. No way her singing could be more beautiful or endearing than that. Anything being more uplifting than that would be a feat in and of itself, and should be declared a world wonder, eternally preserved for all to see and enjoy. Yeri was slightly embarrassed by both this train of thought and being pointed out as curious, but aside from rosy cheeks, she was determined to not let that show all too much. "I am," she chirped, head tilting, "And I'm glad you don't mind." She had no clue what she would ask, but was always grateful to have even hypothetical curiosity sated.
"Really?" she asked, seeming completely flabbergasted by the idea of Luna not having been hugged in a while. Was that just another allusion to her shyness or were the people she had around her just not huggers? Either way, it was a definite tragedy Yeri felt more than honored to lessen the impact of. If it were up to her, she'd hug the older girl constantly. "That's dumb." Sometimes she found it a shame she was aware of social conventions, especially as she mulled over the idea of hugging her again and subconsciously pouted. People created such a distance between themselves and others for no reason. Why should it be weird? "I'll make up for the whole time you haven't been hugged," she offered with a grin, half-joking so it could be taken either way, though she was pretty sure she'd made it all too obvious she really enjoyed the older girl's company. "Promise!~"
Yeri squatted down to see the mixing cups from a more equal angle instead of the almost straight-on view she would have of it standing up as if she were on constant tactical mode - which, though necessary for planning and having a good general overlook, was not always the best tactic in and of itself. Gah, semantics. The younger girl found she could say enough to fill encyclopedias if she were to explain herself, her thoughts and actions time and time again. Well. She could talk a novel's length without explaining anything, so maybe that wasn't really the best analogy. Hearing Luna's compliments awakened her from her string of thoughts. She was done pouring exactly the right amount of milk into the measuring cup either way, so she stood back up and stuck her tongue out at the other girl. "What ins and outs," she asks in earnest as she scrunches up her nose, "and who says I'm not giving myself enough credit?" She offers Luna another quick grin before glancing at her reflection in the microwave glass. "I'm pretty cute, right?" Blinking innocently at the older girl and putting some of those practiced cute expressions she'd used to use on boys when she needed their help to use, Yeri found she had to hold back giggles from looking at her expression. Ah, teasing was fun. As long as people understood it was a joke, anyway. Those who didn't deserved to think she was self-obsessed. Or could use some explanation, if they were genuinely oblivious. But that didn't mean that there wasn't anything she was fully honest about. "You're still the best, though. Sorry," - a casual and considerably not-sorry shrug - "I don't make the rules."

@Kim Yerim Sunyoung actually felt her cheeks go a little pink at the correction, reprimanding herself lightly for already messing up not even five minutes into the conversation with someone who might possible be her very first friend here. "A-Ah, I'm sorry Yeri..I understand the difference, that's the reason why I like Luna more than Sunyoung." She mentioned with a soft smile before chuckling the awkwardness away briefly.
Sunyoung tried to keep up with the excited girl's questions and concerns, nodding or shaking her head whenever the question was asked and trying to verbally explain as much as she could fit in. "Neh, I like to play the piano as I sing, but a lot of talented singers here are able to do that. I'm not very unique in that aspect. I do like to act, it's one of my passions along with music. I'm just not as good in acting as I wish to be, or my family wishes me to be..." She was explaining as she saw Yeri's eyes drift off towards her personal belongings. Lifting her gaze a couple times to make sure this was what the younger sweet girl was looking at, Sunyoung couldn't help but cover her lips with the back of her hand as she threw her head back in laughter. "Yah, you're a curious one, aren't you? What about after we bake the cake and we let it cool, we can come back here and you can help me unpack. We're all girls here, and I'll answer whatever questions or curiosity you might have."
She assured her with a smile before the air in her lungs stopped functioning for a second. She felt the tight arms around her waist, the weight on her shoulder, and Sunyoung could only stand there awkwardly not knowing what to do. Was it alright to hug her back? Would she get reprimanded for hugging back? Or for not hugging back? Luna tried to get rid of her uneasiness coming from her own awkward lack of communication with people. She was able to, a bit stiffly but still able to nonetheless, pass her hand in soft down the girl's back. "Yeri, you...surprise me in every shape and form, you know that? Omo, I can't remember the last time I was hugged by anyone.." She confessed with a gentle laugh, getting more used to the feeling before the girl moved away once again, only to drag her towards the kitchen.
The continuous compliments and sweet, kind words thrown at her had Sunyoung's ear hot. "Yah, how am I the best?? You're the one who is showing me around and teaching me all the ins and outs. Give yourself some credit too, you're the best." Sunyoung threw back with a genuine eyesmile, helping Yeri mix the ingredients together after washing her hands
Kim Yerim 8 years ago
@Park Sunyoung Yeri pouted at being called 'Yerim' and was about to throw a cutesy tantrum before she remembered that the older girl had literally just introduced herself, so how could she know anything about Yeri's preferences? To her own shock, the younger girl realized she didn't even mind being called by her old name. There was something about Luna's kind aura, or perhaps it was her soft, gentle voice, that guided Yeri to be more understanding than she usually was. "Unnie," she began, smile still apparent as she nudged the older girl with her shoulder, "Call me Yeri, okay? Yerim is for serious conversations~"

Drama and music? "That's so cool, unnie!" she couldn't help but explain, stars in her eyes. Though she never cared for actual drama, some plays and musicals were actually really funny, and music majors were mostly singers, weren't they? "Do you play instruments? Sing?" Oh, what Yeri wouldn't give to hear her roommate sing.. "Do you act?" She wondered if that was a point of shyness or insecurity for the older girl as well, or if that was the one place where the other girl suddenly gained all her confidence - one thing she was sure of, however: Luna was absolutely amazing at whatever she did. There was no doubt in Yeri's mind about this.
Pursing her lips, the younger girl looked at Luna's 'area' of the room, the urge to know what was in every nook and cranny stronger than ever. She knew her manners and morals, so she never would, but she'd want to look. So bad. She's more than happy to settle for eyeing all of it curiously, wondering if maybe they will one day be familiar enough for her to know what was there without looking. The thought made her almost-constant smile reach her eyes with a bit more ease. After eyeing the outstretched hand, Yeri decided it wouldn't do. Handshakes were great and all, for business meetings - and apparently students, yuck, she was not looking forward to having to tone herself down under the guise of being an adult, but taking into account how well Luna seemed to have taken her excitement so far, she took her chances using the older girl's more open demeanor to go in for a quick hug after throwing the mix back onto her bed, leaning her head against the other's and wrapping her arms around her waist. It was short-lived, sure, but Yeri's satisfied smile was sure to provide the entire boarding house its warmth and light for the remainder of the month. (She did feel slightly guilty for doing something Luna might've felt uncomfortable with. Just a bit.)

"Sounds good!" Yeri exclaimed, clasping her hands together and flashing yet another grin before picking the mix back up from her bed. She promptly went to the excuse for a kitchen each room was equipped with, assuming Luna would follow. It wasn't great by any means, but it was more than enough, especially for cake. She began unpacking the mix and grabbing whatever bowls and extra ingredients she thought she needed. "Yah, Luna-sshi? You're the best," she added for good measure as she put the basic mix in a large bowl and looked around to remember where she put the eggs.
Park Sunyoung 8 years ago
@Kim Yerim Sunyoung was not expecting the overly excited girl, what was her name again? Ah Yerim..it was a sweet name, and she could see the sweetness, innocence even, underneath the excitement the younger girl was throwing at her. Though it was unusual and and a bit overwhelming upon first meeting, it was also heartwarming to Luna - she would much rather have this kind of introduction than a rude or cold one. "I really like your name as well Yerim-ah. I did come back from class, but our homework isn't usually pen and paper if you know what I mean...I'm a drama and music major." She responded with a smile, laying her things down on a nearby bed labeled as hers. If she was being honest, Sunyoung was planning on just arriving and beginning to unpack her things quietly. But she could tell Yerim was making an effort to be nice to her, to know her better. Earlier she even caught the soft, controlled smile and though Sunyoung had just met her, she could tell the younger was trying to be approachable. "Aish...I can do this later. Let's go make that strawberry cake then, what do you think Yerim-ah?" Sunyoung asked with the kindest smile she could, even braving herself to stretch out her hand towards the younger. There was something nagging at her heart that just screamed how much she wanted to be friends with her - almost like an instant desire to take the girl under her wing and be a good unnie towards her
Kim Yerim 8 years ago
@Park Sunyoung Wow! The girl was so cute! Shy, obviously, and possibly someone not very used to company even half as excitable as Yeri considered herself to be – though, again, who was? She'd claim it to be her youth, but most fellow teenagers weren't enthusiastic about anything at all. Maybe that's what it was; a way to be different. Yeri could only hope her complete and utter delight was visible in her eyesmile, beaming as she opened the door further and stepped aside for Luna to come in. Ahh, even her name was pretty! "I like your name, Luna-unnie!" Realizing she was being a bit much, she looked down at her fiddling hands for a second to regain some of the calm she lost so very easily, looking back up with a softer but no less fond smile. It was a bit silly, but Yeri had always thought 'out of sight, out of mind' rang true for everyone, so being alone meant something entirely different to her. It was nerve-wracking, actually, which is why she insisted on sharing a room. And because she liked meeting and getting to know new people! "How are you?" she asked the older girl, head tilted and eyes genuinely interest. "Did you just come back from class?" Yeri plopped back onto her bed, sitting on her hands and looking up at Luna. There still seemed to be some hesitance on the older girl's part, so the younger ransacked her brain to think of a way to seem more approachable and make the situation a bit more comfortable. "If you don't have too much homework, I packed my fave strawberry cake mix!" She lunges for her bag, then pulls out the mix with a wide grin, jokingly holding it against her face and fake-posing with it.

@Kim Yerim Luna had finally decided in her career as a college student that it was time to make an effort in /making friends/. The girl had enclosed herself in her studies and practices for so long that not only did her classmates lightly berate her, but she herself began feeling lonely. That was the reason as for why she decided the first step would be to live among other people. The girl wasn't expecting the action of just knocking on the door to be so...exciting and scary at the same time. Her heart jumped right as her hand come in contact with the wood for the first time, immediately worrying about who would open the door. Would it be someone kind? Or maybe someone who ended up not really liking her? She hadn't even met the girl and was already thinking of ways in which they would disagree on things. Shaking her head and braving herself for the second knock, Sunyoung jumped and smiled softly at the dazzling smile she received seconds later. "A-Annyeong..I'm Sunyoung, please call me Luna. I think we're living together this semester..." The lack of reaching out towards new people was quite evident already.

Knocking on the door, Hayoung felt like backing up from bringing her pre-ordered cookies to her neighbors. Thus, the longer it took them to open the door, the more she feels nervous about it. Suddenly, she started talking to herself about being okay and that she's doing it to gain friends. "Fighting, Oh Hayoung." She said to herself while pumping her fist in the air.

Yeri once again came home to an empty dorm room, not bothering to hold back a sigh before she threw herself onto her bed. The very reason she opted for a sharing room was so she could be around other people more, considering how much she enjoyed company and detested loneliness. She had arrived and unpacked only yesterday, so maybe it was her timing that was wrong and she was totally overreacting, but it was a bummer.

At first she thought she heard it wrong, but the second time she heard it, she instantly jumped up. A knock on the door! Yeri took her pillow with her, just in case it was a prank, and opened the door with a dazzling smile. "Hi! I'm Yeri~ What's up?"
