º coffee shop

@jungkook j ⁴ while gasping for air, chaeyoung sprints down the alley that she takes everyday to skip lunch at the local café by herself. however, this time, she had scheduled to meet a newly met student there. well, not new to her. the person she was to meet was a barista at the coffee shop and as a frequent customer, she had most definitely noticed him and had only recently mustered up the courage to talk to him. to her dismay he had not known of her but what upperclassmen would notice a mere sophomore anyways. she was still grateful that he had taken up her offer to have lunch together but to her luck she had almost gotten caught sneaking off campus which had run her late. wiping off the beads of sweat from her forehead and frantically brushing her hair out of her face right outside the café, chae tried her best to calm herself down before pushing past the door. with each step she took further into the semi-busy coffeeshop, she took in another breath to try to slow her heart rate. not only was her bpm up from her sprint, but she was a nervous wreck from the thought of getting to hang out with a senior that she had just met. stopping by the counter she desperately asked for a water cup and the sandwich of the day. while taking out her wallet to pay, chaeyoung noticed the curious look that the employee was giving off so she decided to explain her disheveled look. "you see, i'm here to meet a friend from school, but I thought I was going to be late so I sprinted here for four minutes straight and let me tell you. I am NOT a runner." at the end of her explanation she takes out a few bills to pay but then hesitantly puts them away when the employee says "already been paid for." her eyebrows furrow in confusion until she came to an explanation and her head turns back out to the café. a quick scan of the floor allowed her to allocate jungkook sitting faced away from her pretty quickly. fixing her hair one last time and even receiving a thumbs up from the cashier, chaeyoung took her water and plate of sandwiches over to his table. with a hop and a skip the sophomore slid herself into the vacant seat across from jungkook and placed her food on the surface in front of her. with a bright smile she greeted the senior and opened with an inquiry. "hey! um odd question...did you pay for me in advance?"

@chaeyoung p ² "'sup dude, the usual?" it's the same question the male hears every time he's entering the glass doors of the coffee shop - which is also his job. it takes him a moment to realize which co-worker was speaking to him, but considering he's the /only/ one with an afro, he's not hard to pluck out of a crowd. "yeah, the usual. keep this with you, yeah? i've got a friend meeting me with lunch, i'll pay for her lunch too." the smug simper is apparent upon his co-workers face as he takes the twenty being handed to him, and jungkook can't help but roll his eyes. "/just/ a friend. you're impossible." seokhyun - the coworker - shakes his head with a quiet snicker, extending his change out to the male with his soda cup. "i may be impossible, but you say the same every time. don't you think it's time to switch things up? aren't you /needy/?" the male perks a brow upwards, reaching out to take the cup and his change. "correction, i've never met a friend here before. i think i'm switching things up enough, don't you think?" he's beginning to walk away, yet he halts with one step taken ahead. "i'll have you know, also, i wouldn't ever let you know about my needs. ever." and he's sauntering towards the soda fountain. it's not that seokhyun is a bad kid, but that's what he is. a kid. and jungkook doesn't surround himself with the best group of friends, but they're all he knows. literally. the rim of the plastic cup is pressed beneath each soda flavor offered, and it's heavy within the expanse of his palm because of the /extra/ amounts of shaven ice occupying the space before the liquid is inserted. the male begins to regret this decision the moment he's facing the tables, ones that are filled with unfamiliar faces, and he's attempting to not stare too long at each female occupying different spaces around the room before settling with the fact that she just hadn't arrived yet. if she did, maybe she'd just come and join him at his table. so he steps forward, sipping from his drink whilst taking a seat at the nearest vacant table.
