@huh yunjin Minghao was growing impatient while waiting for an answer from the woman. Not only could he distinguish an alarming amount of people making their way to the bar to get their drinks but also the other bartender supposed to work with him seemed to have vanished, leaving him in his lonesome ; and with patrons like the one he was trying to engage with, it seemed like it wouldn’t be a walk in the park, tonight.
‘I usually don’t even bother asking them if they want a refill so no.
But sure, a strawberry soju cocktail coming up’ he nodded, cutting the conversation short by turning on the heel of his shoe and immediately getting executed on his task, starting by putting ice into a tall glass along with a few diced strawberries in the bottom, topping it up with strawberry soju, a dash of sprite and some calpico. Sticking in the drink a pink straw to match the colour of the cocktail, he walked back to the girl with her drink and settled it in front of her to replace the empty glass sitting there.

She had a sad expression painted over her features, like she fell into the reminiscence of something less than joyful and found herself reliving those moments while her friends were loving it up on the dance floor. Again, it’s not like her knew her and neither did he really care in all honestly. It seemed to often be quite the misconception that bartenders were there to listen to the customers problems but Minghao would genuinely pay someone for them to get out his face if that was the case.

@xu minghao There was a shadow hovering in the back of her mind, a ghost with eyes scrutinizing her. From within it, a guttural laugh that oddly felt like victory, as though it was preening off her misery, knowing full well that he was the cause of it. He was nothing more than an apparition—a haze that took its form in her mind that she could get easily get rid of with a shot or two. But she was not in the mood to scald with harsh liquor just yet, being one of the people who preferred to ease herself into the night to exemplify some sort of self control and sanity. That was, what little sanity she had left in her torn soul. But the shadow knew that she had little sanity left, for she allowed him to feed off of her, never quite letting him go. She was not Peter Pan, after all. She could not detatch a shadow at will.

For that shadow was a memory of someone she loved. Someone she loved as much as he loved to hurt her. Because even though she moved an ocean away from him, she could not escape him. How could she? She spent a great deal of her time yearning for his love. And even though her mind knew that she moved to a new country to forget him, to pull herself apart from a life of pain and sorrow, her heart was unfortunately a creature of habit. And it still beat for him, no matter how many bodies she put herself under, how much liquor she drowned herself in—all in pursuit of pleasure and forgetting. Time healed, indeed, however a month was not quite long enough to repair the damage he had done to her.

So when a bartender offered to get her something, she couldn't refuse. With eyes that barely obscured her suffering, she looked up, meeting the stranger's dark pair with a half-hearted smile and a cocked brow. "'Whatever?' Is that how you greet people? Anyway, let me get a strawberry soju cocktail. Thanks."

@huh yunjin A quick peek down at his phone was enough to get Minghao eyes rolling to the back of his skull; not only was he still stuck there for around four, if not more but he was also getting bombarded with texts from a fling he had the night before, reminding him why he had self-established a rule to never sleep with the same person twice. Blocking the sender, he shoved his phone back in his pocket, patrons demanding his attention for more liquor — or that’s what they thought. Management had made it clear that stinginess took you a long way when in business, making all their drinks diluted by haft once adding just enough ice cubes to them.
‘Next time don’t ing scream, you’ll get your gin tonics faster..’ he muttered the last part, fingers snatching the couple paper bills from the other’s hand before turning his attention towards the other end of the bar.

There she was again. Not that he knew her but Minghao has seen the girl hanging around for a couple nights now, always to get abandoned by her friends that were far off their rockers in what seemed to be more than just a couple drinks. Dragging himself over towards her, his presence first seemed to go unnoticed until he knocked a couple times against the countertop, right by her now empty drink. ‘Earth to — whatever. What can I get ya?’

@xu minghao She was seated on a stool underneath the fluorescent lights of the bar, neon and an absolute eyesore, but no less beautiful. Surrounding her was a sea of bodies—some already intoxicated, others working through their first drink that night. Some of them were drinking something a little less concentrated as an appetizer, easing their way through what they would hope would be a night to forget come morning; others were simply going straight for it, burning their throats and souls with hard liquor that would surely impair their balance and sense within the hour.

Not that she cared about any of them, even if some of her friends were part of the masses that were too inebriated to hold a proper conversation. They had gone off to dance with their significant others, leaving Yunjin alone, sitting by the bar and sipping on her drink as she lost herself in her thoughts for what felt like the hundredth time that week.
