The youngest daughter of history professor John Grey and his wife Elaine, Samantha Jean Grey was 10 years old when her mutant telepathic powers first manifested after experiencing the emotions of a dying friend. Shortly after she got her letter to attend Mystiq Academy for the Gifted. Believing it to be a prestigious school for their genius daughter, Samantha's parents quickly agreed and dropped her off. She hasn't seen them since. At the age of 13, she developed telekinesis. Being connected to her emotions, and having stronger than average empathy, caused her powers to spiral out of control. When she was 15, on a class trip Samantha was kidnapped by a secret organization that trained her to be an assassin. By the time she was 17, she discovered her pyrokinesis, a result of her using her telekinetic powers to contain an explosion.

When she was 20 Sam was saved by a different organization, Sam continues to occasionally work for them, in addition to a group of elite students from the school which helps protect humans. Now back in school, her powers growing stronger every day, Sam tries to keep to herself as much as possible despite having a few friends. For the last couple of months, Sam has also been having dreams of fire and a Phoenix but has no idea what it means. She has a few crushes but refuses to reveal who they are to anyone.
