people look at them and assume one of them is just doing it for money
the younger doesn't want the older's money for school because it seems like they are using the older for money (even though they're struggling)
the older wants kids, marriage, but the younger isn't even out of college and can't commit to that
(on the flip side) the older already has one kid and a divorced spouse and doesn't want more kids but the younger really wants to start a family
people think they're brother and sister (if they're the same race, look kinda alike)
they have a lot of fights about money because younger doesn't want to use older's money and older doesn't see a problem with giving them money
the younger has only one or two exes but the older is divorced - the younger thinks that their previous spouse is better for older
the family doesn't approve of this relationship at all
everyone in the older's family shames the younger and calls them a "twinkie" or some other derogatory term
woah, age shock, the older knows something that the younger doesn't from way back in the 80s, 70s, etc. or vice versa
the older keeps thinking that the younger has commitment issues, but forgets that they're just young and can't commit to anything but schoolwork and such

i've lowkey had enough of y, ty age gap plots because that's really not how age gaps work
