how do new accounts survive?

feels like every role play has an asinine 'account age' requirement that is severely off putting for new members who can't even use the site to role play because they happen to be new.  how are new role players to the site supposed to be welcomed into communities that barr them from even joining in the first place?  i've only been able to find a small handful that aren't discriminatory.

late, but i wholeheartedly agree with this sentiment. if this was any other site, any of this would not fly. it's the fact it's still not even sure to many of the users commenting that the "minor" was even a minor or an adult posing as a minor. and for those problematic users who keep trying to come back- there's nothing anyone can do about that. but the fact the first thought is to, as a whole, barr new accounts or questionable accounts or even ask people to unprivate their accounts to join a rp goes against site user privacy. it's lazy when it comes to actually doing admin work(confrontation
and resolution) when it comes to their own rp's, so that's just my thought.

Everyone already explain pretty well
Although I will add, I'm sure most would allow an account like yours since you have an actual description/don't appear suspicious.

I'm more of a they need to be a few days old at least (having a photo/some kind of profile set up) if they can't figure out their profile setup yet, they won't be able to do the same with the character profiles (which are usually required in some rps.)

like everyone else said ealier, issues with a minor causing drama in rps as well as the toxic players making new accounts has made people weary. most admins will gladly accept new accounts if they have proof of rp experience/activity from another platform (which can always been pm'ed to an admin for privacy). while the age account does seem really strict, it's one of the few ways admins can weed out problematic accounts.

in addition to what everyone else is saying, i would say it doesn't hurt to take a chance and ask the roleplay administration if you could still join anyways. if you have any kind of proof that you've been writing for a while, they may accept it. i know a few rps are very flexible; they just want to ensure they are letting good people into the community they've built and prevent further harm. good luck!

In short: people ruin things for people.

make blogs, seek out private roleplays with plots you want to write, join smaller, slower, newer rps, and you can always make your own rp in spite of places that won't let you in lmaooooo the trick is exposing yourself so people don't think you're secretly someone else

Yeah recently a "minor" supposedly made everyone kind of life keep watch or become suspicious of new users. But pushing that aside because this issue isn't actually new at all. Because make accounts on this site is so easy many problematic people who have been like banished and site wide blocked from the website have made new accounts to hide under. These people usually get found out because they can't seem to act different or realize their mistakes. One problematic person can ruin an rp very very quickly on this site so it's best just weed out the opportunity.

in addition to the below, a lot of new accounts would join rps and then be deleted as well which annoys a lot of admins. basically, a lot of people ruined it for actual newbies and made it harder for them to be trusted and accepted in new spaces, but i know some admins still let in newbies anyway or have a part of their rule that states they will accept genuinely new people to the site. i did that in the past when i had rules about account age limits.

welcome to the site! i share a similar sentiment that account ages will turn away a bunch of new members, especially since this site has growth issues, but has potential. however, i think recently the account age rule is a result of this particular minor trying to join places, then engage in inappropriate behaviour and incite drama. also in the past, problematic users tend to make new accounts and continue to cause trouble with these new identities. because of this, i understand that the account age rule can weed out certain troublesome users. for now, my best advice is that if you have proof that you've been writing/roleplaying for awhile, you could show it to the admins. this is based on what the admins did in this roleplay i'm in. hopefully this can help. welcome again and have fun!

So this is prior to you, but we had some idiot, who is strongly believed to have been a minor made like eight accounts at once was joining everywhere with multiple accounts, not role-playing correctly being passive, aggressive, mentioning things like self harm openly in chats it was just the most cringe awful thing you could witness. It was so bad they were actually causing communities to crumble because some administrators didn’t know how to handle the confrontation that was happening. It was just a mess. It’s finally all died down now, but it put such a bad, sour taste, and so many peoples mouths. That is why that account age is there. The person of whom I’m speaking, who was believed to be a minor, did not articulate themselves as well as you do. So I would think by engaging with you, this would become clear.

The only other issue that tends to be a problem as far as account age is because it’s incredibly easy to make a new account. Some people will character hog by making multiple accounts to be on the same role-play. This doesn’t make sense to me because some people wanna hide behind a new account for whatever reason. But that is also another issue that tends to be a problem. I’m sorry you have to face discrimination. As a fellow role-player from Tumblr, I sympathize with you.
