"oh my god, moto, it's your 38024342nd blog in like, two weeks!" - well, yes! but for good reason, my friends.

i'm fixing to start writing a new character, jang ilseong. he's a noble during the joseon era of korea, he's a charming young man, and hiding the fact he's gay (doing a piss poor job of it). to use some blurbs from his profile:

"ilseong was born late into the night, a starry sky draped over the roof of the jang estate to welcome the firstborn of the then duke and duchess. however, he was not the firstborn of the family... for the jang house was one that bred cruelty, lies, and manipulation. and how does a child learn to love in such an environment?

the duchess was poising her firstborn to claim the title of duke, once his father would pass. being taught by some of the best teachers one could buy, given extensive ettiquite lessons, and rigorous military training. the young boy was sharp, elegant, and effortlessly charming.

it was during his time in the military that helped to give him another sense of self. he was already respected from his family's history and rose through the ranks...not only did the young man thrive in the military, he also began to understand his own feelings much better. his first love, another young man he had grown close to. many nights they shared, staring up at the night sky, talking about their families and plans for the future. no formal declarations of love were expressed, but it was evident their bond was something much deeper than friendship or camraderie."

now, if you're interested in plotting and making a connection with this angst magnet, i got a few connections i'm looking to fill!

soldier - 0/1 (past love, angst, drama)
ilseong and muse b were two young, lost, men that found themselves, and one another, while away from their homes. ilseong was seemingly excellent in every way; from his charming smile, his lighthearted demeanor, and he was well liked by most everyone you served with. so when the two began to deepen their connection, it was in subtle ways. lingering stares, sneaking off alone, long conversations into the night. and yet, neither ilseong or muse b were willing to label what it was. both had their own lives to return to. which made parting all the harder.

just me and you - 0/1 (fake marriage, drama)
muse b is a longtime friend of ilseong's. the two had practically grown up together and she saw firsthand how complicated the situation was with the jang house. and she was one of the first people ilseong came out to. "it's complicated," he said. with ever mounting pressure from both families for the two to get married, ilseong suggests a crazy stunt. just to get everyone off their backs.

be your enemy - 0/1 (rivals)
as if ilseong couldn't get more animosity from his own family, he's somehow managed to annoy muse b. was it how everyone else seems to like him? was it how easily he climbed the military ranks because of nepotism? maybe it's how careless ilseong seems. everything about him gets under muse b's skin and there's nothing ilseong hates more than being hated for no reason.

if you're interested in filling any of these connections, or winging something with him, i encourage you to join ilhwa! ilhwa is a historical based, bridgerton inspired alternate universe roleplay, based in joseon era korea. the community is very active, very friendly and there's several helpful guides to get you started! from my own experience, i was intimidated at first because i felt so overwhelmed! "can i write at the same level as everyone else?" "i missed so much of the roleplay's plot, how will i keep up?" but i can assure you, those worries melted away! on my first character there, cho miyoung, she has flourishing connections and plots in development (and i'm always open to more with her too)!

i look forward to writing with y'all on miyoung or ilseong! see you at ilhwa
