i'm really curious of what other people think of interracial relationships.
the other days was loving day (?)  and i saw like all these mixed couples on tumblr like oh. that's cool.
surprisingly in new york, i don't see much interracial/intercultural relationships and it's weird because new york is one of the most diverse cities in the country if not even the world.

This is a pretty interesting topic I've seen on a rpr blog here, so I'll comment.

I don't mind interracial couples because hey love is love to me. I understand you on rarely seeing interracial couples since I live in LA and Hawaii. Both places are pretty diverse. I'll just give a possible few reasons why we don't see interracial couples often. I saw it on a conversation on netizenbuzz, some from other conversations, and others by observation.

I find the main reason for interracial couples not happening is due to people's comfort zones.

Usually people kinda just date within their own culture because it's easier in the relationship. When different cultures tend to mix, sometimes people have a hard time incorporating. A might not be comfortable with certain tastes/food that B loves. There's also things like holidays and celebrations because B wants to celebrate his/her culture practices, but what about A? A might not always be comfortable with doing certain things. It might take time for people to learn about new cultures and stuff, especially when dating/marrying that person it's more different.

It also depends on people's degrees of comfort. I'll put in my Asian experience and perspective. For some Asians, just dating Asian with a different culture is different or new for them.

Older generation comes into play too for some. There are still some older people who believe in the whole just date within your own culture and race thing. Some will listen because they believe in it too. Then there are those who listen because they want to respect their elders (the Asian perspective).

I hate to say it at the end of the day, cultures do take a part in a relationship. As long as both sides are willing to learn about each other's sides and accept it, things can work out I think. I've seen interracial couples with more open people involved tend to last longer. However, I'm not saying what I just said applies to everyone. Just an observation I guess?
