[RANT] Face chasing

Am I the only one who is not okay with it?

I know people do it all the time whenever it may be doing it subconciously or entirely on purpose. I have done it a couple of times in the past. I have wished for specific characters join a roleplay too but never have I limited my muse's romantic/ual attraction to them.

I loathe face/otp chasing because it encourages exclusion and its so upsetting, embarassing and disgusting to witness some of it. I even got disgusted at myself who encouraged face chasing 4 years ago.

Just because the face chaser talks to everyone doesn't mean its fine. I understand that roleplaying is not about romantic relationships but what if it were a roleplay? What if it was master/slave, hybrid au, omegaverse? Themes of roleplays were you were meant to partner up? Those who roleplay with faceclaims that are not in demand are left in the dust.

There are people who take great initiative to resquest roleplaying from other roleplayer but they don't receive much because of their faceclaim. They are not offered the equal chance because the face is more important than their roleplaying alone.

Why do face chasers join roleplays in hope they'll have their otps granted or hook up a plan to join a rp to make an otp happen? Mind as well do it a pm rp, no difference right there.

Why else do I not roleplay my usual male characters in straight rps? Its because majority of those females are thirsting for specific male idols and ignore the rest. (You stupid fangirls only looking for your bias) Its also no different in same- roleplays too. This site is cluttered with roleplays with an advertising title "____ wants ____" And its usually the same kind of facelciams being requested.

I know I may be wrong, I know I might not be making any sense. But this is meant to get off my chest. If anyone ever reads this you are free to agree or disagree.

I wouldn't call it 'disgusting' but it's annoying as heck. You see this even in anime roleplays sometimes where people will only go after a popular character and ignore one that's not as well known in the series. Face chasing has not happened with me too much but when it does happen I can understand why many are fed up with it. I'm not going to lie I'd like my OTP's to happen as well or someone to fall in love with my character but you just have to be patient with stuff such as romance.

Don't ignore someone if they're trying to talk to your character (not you but to the ones who do this): There's more to roleplaying than relationships and . Whatever happened to character development and having fun with everyone you meet?

Reason why I kind of stick to my own rps or a good friends. Some of the others are just....kind of the same you know? And drama. Don't get me started on drama.

This is why people should just stop bothering with RP's on this site and either go to PM RP's full time, or go somewhere else. This site has gone down the drain when it comes to plots, characters, the whole works. Nowadays it's just people trying to while making their OTP's a reality, and everything else is left to the wayside.

I too admit to having these inclinations but after getting into rping lesser known idols, it was astonishing to me that you are nearly ignored, even when taking the initiative to be super active in rooms and walls. Another reason why I cannot rp characters that are a part of a major otp is because as soon as I get there, someone is always on my even though I clearly don't want to associate myself with them yet. It get's super frustrating when I want to join an rp and rp with literate characters, but all they want to do is crush on a character who just arrived; ignoring me and many other literate, nice, and detailed rpers along the way. I've only managed to break through like two rps here, and only one of which is still active and kicking....and now they are my family basically. Everywhere else I get a routine "hi" and are quickly passed over because I rp Hyerin instead of Hani, or Hotshot instead of EXO. And I AM NOT EVEN A WALLFLOWER. Which gets to me the most. Sorry for the rant btw.

I totally agree with you..
This has happened so so long ago, I might add since I started roleplaying. I kept getting ignored even when I asked people to rp with me. Then I knew that was because the characters I played weren't in any special otp..
So once I tried to be one of those really pupolar characters and oh how I got thousands of requests to rp with people..

(/rolls by cos i am blog hopping) i agree with you esp when i play a
character that isn't so popular people don't really come and say like
a hi to my character that's why i've been hesitant on joining rps now cos
i know i'll be ignored or looked over okay i shall roll away now (/rolls away
slowly)
