John Locke, born 1632, coined the term Tabula Rasa, or the blank slate. The concept derived from the idea that the human mind was born a blank image, and the more one experiences in life, the more that is written upon said slate. Yoo Shiahs was anything but blank, transparent, left untainted. No, her's was quite the opposite, as cruel as life was.

With a father figure as a police officer, it's peculiar to others about how Shiah's knack for philosophy came about. Having the personification of the law warranting her every step, overlooking every friend she brought home, involving himself in every school event for her 'protection' - it was rather suffocating. She discovered her outlet was unfinished theories and anomalous superstitions from folklore or old, brilliant white men. And just as innate it can be, it happened to be a fitting interest for her.

If there was one thing Yoo Shiah was capable of, it was school studies. Not that she tried hard, but it came naturally to her. Even when she showed up for her exam hungover, she received the highest points. She was quite marvelous, spectacular.

But there's a reason why people say philosophy majors are absolute crazy. Their minds paint an already painted, all rounded, beautiful canvas, and wreak the most havoc they can with an endless abyss of what ifs. They take in the habit of analyzing others before their actions even register to their heads, thinking they can get inside. Concluding how others feel without validation and harbor strong opinions hardheadedly. If those were the expectations for philosophy majors, well, Yoo Shiah fit right in.
