(TRIGGER WARNING: ABANDONMENT)

I. the beginning

there was once a daring man who thought he would use his powers to aid those in need. there was once a woman whose values betrayed those of her superiors and kept his identity a secret, enabling him to live life as a police officer with superpowers, unimaginable to those similar to him. they fell in love naturally and had a son who inherited his father's ability: telescopic vision.

it was easy to detect: he would sometimes stare at the toy aisle at the other end of the store when they went shopping, only to cry after exactly two minutes because the world had suddenly turned dark around him for the next hour. they noticed that their son's power was basically a carbon copy of his father's. all he needed was training and a lesson about how the world despised people like them and how they should learn how to live with it. simple as that, right?

wrong.

shortly after his 3rd birthday, his father abandoned the police force after years of having to bear with their intolerance against superhumans and concealing his true identity. he found strength in a group of people who were similarly shunned by society for being different: villains and of course, ex-heroes who were mistreated by the same people they had tried to protect. they had one and one mission only: to eradicate normal humans who had trampled on them like insects.

the news soon reached the police force. both mother and son were in danger. fortunately, she found an orphanage willing to take her child in. she requested that they give him a brand new identity to protect him. the child was therefore known as jeon wonwoo.

II. the little rebel

wonwoo did not take his new home well at first. he did not understand why eomma and appa did not come back to pick him up. he did not know why they left him in a strange place with unfamiliar faces around him. he did not know why they started calling him 'wonwoo' instead of his real name. he hated it there. he just wanted to go home.

but they gave him time to adjust to his new home. his new home. his new life. soon enough he found himself a new family, his old one buried somewhere deep inside his memories. he thinks of them from time to time, but the older he becomes, the less he remembers. the only thing that lingers was fear and the feeling of being abandoned, but he'd like to think that he has gotten over it already.

his guardians at the orphanage did not treat him differently, but they did impose a special rule for him. "there are people out there who would abuse your talent if they knew you have it," they warned him, "never let anyone know about it. no one. not even your closest friends."

while he obeyed and never explicitly told anyone about his power, his curiosity led him to secretly experimenting on it. he learned about his ultimate weakness the hard way by accidentally spending too much time staring at the paper across the room during an exam at school. having to pretend that he was normal had turned wonwoo into a decent liar, so he pretended that he had passed out due to exhaustion to mask the fact that he can't see anything even with his eyes opened. through a few trial and error sessions, he learned what he can and cannot do, thus giving him a fair amount of control over his power.

III. THE OTHER SIDE

he would then use it to cheat his way through school and eventually college. however, it was not until his last year that rumours about a band of people with supernatural abilities started emerging. while those around him had dismissed it, thinking that all those so-called superheroes and villains are safely locked behind bars, wonwoo had a feeling that there were definitely more people like him out there. he grew obsessed with the idea to the point of dropping out and scraping his future plans altogether, dedicating his time to research while taking up part-time jobs to pay his bills.

to say that it was tough would be an understatement. most believed that it was just a myth or a conspiracy meant to scare people. there were times where wonwoo himself began to think that chasing after the group was futile, and maybe he was the only one who wasn't behind bars somehow. but he had questions. memories of his parents started to resurface the deeper he was into his research. how exactly did he get his power? did his parents abandon him because he was different? how many people are living under radar like him?

and most importantly, how powerful could he actually be?

wonwoo's intense fear of abandonment has led him to being wary around new people. he prefers to listen and observe compared to active socializing. he may come off as aloof and reserved at first, but he becomes clingy and slightly possessive once he opens up. he particularly enjoys late night talks as a way to forge and strengthen bonds with people, and has a tendency to be more talkative past midnight.

his greed for power resemble that of his father's. he is fortunate enough to find himself a new home that promotes a healthy environment for him to develop his power and encourages it for good deeds. while he generally complies to orders, he would try to find flaws in rules and regulations given to him and use them to his own advantage without being obvious about it.

he also has a knack for experimenting and would go through extreme lengths to prove or disprove a theory. he learns best by doing, and would rather work at his own pace compared to working under deadlines as he does not perform well under pressure.

I. i write in 3rd pov only. i can write either para or novella, but i will generally mirror your length.

II. i'm open to any genres except for now. f2b is okay as long as it's consented by all parties.

III. i will always try my best to familiarize myself with your character before plotting, and i expect you to do the same for mine.

IV. ic =/= ooc. anything my character says/does is not a reflection of my views, though if i ever did anything to upset you, please be aware that it is purely unintentional and that my pms are open for discussion.

V. i prefer plotting even if it's just a little bit to give myself an idea on where our thread is going, but i don't really mind winging as well.

VI. my replying speed varies depending on my muse/ooc schedule. i try to reply in order, but exceptions can always be made for threads i have more muse with and/or shorter ones. please do not poke me for a reply if our thread is still on the tracker.

VII. please inform me if you would like to drop our thread.

it's 3am in the morning // taken by eric.

at some point eric and wonwoo bonded over being chronic night owls and late night talks, which can range anywhere between deep conversations and weird realizations. sometimes wonwoo might come up with the most bizarre theories as well, and of course, he would want eric to indulge in his ramblings and occasional experiments (nothing too dangerous, of course).

too dense for love // taken by jeonghan.

It all started with wonwoo spotting a pair of horns peeking out from the rooftop's railings. fearing that whoever is up there might fall to their demise, he rushes up and finds jeonghan, a hero he had always admired. his admiration soon took a turn when wonwoo found himself falling for him, and while the other man was a great hero, wonwoo was starting to think that he wasn't the best at picking up hints and emotions.

spider's thread // taken by shuhua.

the library assistant in the campus library doesn't seem to like wonwoo and neither does he, but one day when he was trying to find a book without getting himself kicked out for staying way past opening hours, he overheard her singing along to the tune of his favourite song by his favourite indie band.
