Really, it was a of dumb luck, or that's what Jun told himself as he stood mutely, somewhat shell-shocked, watching as the taller aimed a blunt and slight tree branch at him, having picked it up from the ground just moments before. He had come to the lighthouse, hoping to gather usable materials dropped from naive students that have come before him and dropped dead by the hands of their classmates, and instead had walked in on Katsuo overturning furniture, possibly due to the same reasons he had for coming. His eyes wide, he barely had time to open his mouth before the other sharply snapped his head in his way, backing up and shifting into a defensive position with cold eyes.

The two used to be friends. Of course, friends on this island meant nothing to the students motivated to kill one another, to the principal who took pleasure in seeing the young men and women beat each other down and tear gashes into each other's faces for a glimpse at survival. In fact, the last Jun saw the other, it was when he was in the middle of telling a (slightly) offensive joke, and ever since then, the two had drifted apart. He was stupid enough to not apologize to the other, so now it seemed as if Katsuo was dead set on not identifying him whatsoever, the cold sheen still in his eyes as he faced the younger.

"You..." Jun began, eyes dropping to the makeshift weapon briefly before flitting back up to the other's face. Getting into a fight was the least worrisome thing on his mind right now. "Katsuo... it's been a while, hasn't it?"

He wondered if the other would stab him and be over with it.
