Hyunju watches the whiteboard with lidded eyes, a pencil between her fingers and another tucked behind one ear. The atmosphere today is laced with sleep and boredom, but somehow she's surviving despite the student beside her who's snoring obnoxiously loud. Mathematical equations are written on the shiny surface and she copies them down diligently. Although her attitude in class screams 'nerd' or 'geek', it's simply because Hyunju doesn't have a choice - her career of rapping may be able to support her financially, but everyone knows that things don't last forever and all of it could go down the drain in an instant. And when that happens, how would Hyunju cope? If she were to find a job, she'd certainly need some sort of qualification, and what better qualification is there than education? - So here she is, writing down numbers and letters in her notebook like the diligent student she isn't. However, the young rapper doesn't hate education - she finds it fun, actually, except the fact that she has to take subjects that she's barely interested in in order to get where she wants to be, and although balancing academics and music is a load on her shoulders, she knows she should be thankful instead. It seems funny that a lot of the students around her don't seem to share her enthusiasm for learning, except for the tan boy that sits directly in front of her - he seems to be caught in his own world almost all of the time as far as Hyunju had observed. The boy is her main anchor for when she doesn't understand what was being revised in class, you know, because he doesn't sleep and actually pays attention, and today she taps him on the shoulder with an outstretched arm and a pen to ask him a small, "What's the relationship between ln x and exponential graphs? Aren't they the same with log x?"

After ten more minutes the class comes to an end, Hyunju packs her things and almost shakes hands with the teacher - again - /how long will it take for her to get used to their culture, damnit?/ - and bows instead before leaving for her evening listening sessions with a producer she met a few days ago.

@N웃☥ Black-Jack Thinking about it now, Koichi wondered why he had even accepted to substitute for someone on such a short notice. And not only that, but at a place he didn’t know and originally had no intention of knowing. He was doing it for the small amount of money, he kept telling himself, or because it gave him a chance to make music with others. He’d never minded genres much, though metal would definitely be a favourite. But providing smooth background noise in form of jazz was not a problem at all. The other guys were good, all he had to do was keep up and feel the bass.

When Koichi arrived earlier, just one step into the whole ensemble, he felt out of place. Given that he hadn’t been told much about the location (only about the music), no dress code or anything had been mentioned. Which led him to dress rather casually; black pants and loose print shirt, pink hair curled and put in a messy ponytail. Now he was used to getting odd looks just for his ridiculous hair color and makeup. But this was on a whole new level. The inside of what revealed itself to be a casino was huge and classy, all the employees dressed to match the look. Black, gold and dark wood were prominent, gambling tables scattered all over. He remembered having trouble weaving his way through, and the place hadn’t even been that busy yet.

It was way more crowded now. Even though they stood on a tiny platform, he could barely overlook the whole room, and had long given up trying to do so. That was good, since looking around /and/ concentrating on his playing was difficult. Maybe he was a little rusty after all. Then again, this wasn’t what he played often in his free time. Still nice. Perhaps, had he been paying more attention to his surroundings, he would’ve seen the man trying to shove past the crowd dangerously close to him. As things were, he didn't.
