Windvane Meadow

South of Hyrule Garrison Ruins.

@Seon Yein (Gerudo) Chansik had felt like he was living with a dark shadow hanging over his shoulders ever since the Great Calamity had happened. Maybe it was his father's spirit hanging over him, cursing him for fleeing when he should have died for the sake of the country. Maybe it was the weight of all the soldiers who had lost their lives to the war when Chansik fled for safety. He couldn't do anything to escape the ominous and depressing aura that seemed to constantly surround him ever since the war ended and the demon king took over the kingdom, so he dedicated himself to protecting what was left. He hoped that, only then, the everlasting feeling of guilt and regret would leave him long enough so that he might be able to smile again.
Chansik patrolled around Hyrule a lot, mostly on the back of his most loyal and faithful horse, Bloodmoon. He'd travel from one side of the kingdom to the other, helping helpless travelers getting attacked by monsters. Most of the time it was small monsters, easy to kill. Bokoblins and moblins, and the occasional lizalfos or skulltula, but it was never anything serious. It wasn't hard to save people from the small fries, so it never really helped Chansik feel like he was doing any sort of duty for the greater good. Rather that he was stuck in an endless cycle of stopping petty crimes rather than being a real and true hero.
When he heard the beeping from the guardian's targeting gaze, Chansik knew that all of that was about to change. He noticed that the guardian hadn't been targeting him, but rather a gerudo male traveling in Windvane Meadow. It was foolish of him to travel around so casually in Central Hyrule like this, but there was no time to focus on such things. Chansik jumped off of a rushing Bloodmoon, and he rushed between the traveler and the guardian, quickly pulling his shield up to parry the guardian beam when it shot out. The beam reflected and went right back in the guardian's direction, taking a direct hit in the guardian's eye. "You should be more careful," Chansik scolded the gerudo as he pulled out his ancient sword. When it was removed from it's sheath on Chansik's back, the sword beamed with a blue light and glowed as the blade charged and appeared on the hilt. Chansik ran forward and sliced at the guardian's leg, chopping it off with a loud metallic sound. The hit and loss of a limb knocked the guardian off of its feel, and Chansik took that to his advantage as he began slashing and thrashing at the main body of the guardian. He attacked quickly and consistently until the guardian was defeated. He jumped back just before the beast exploded, leaving behind its ancient parts for scraps.
Chansik turned to the gerudo who was just about to lose his life to that thing. For the first time, Chansik felt like he did something good. He didn't prevent a monster from beating this gerudo up. He didn't save the gerudo from getting his goods stolen from him. He saved this gerudo's /life/. It was the first time he had saved someone's life. "You shouldn't travel around so carelessly," Chansik instructed. "You easily could have died just then."

Yein considered the Gerudo luck for the most part. Not only was the desert a separate part of Hyrule, it almost seemed like it was a whole new world. If it wasn't for the calamity taking control of Divine Beast Vah Naboris, the Gerudo would have never been any in sort of trouble. Unlike the rest of Hyrule, there weren't guardians roaming around attacking villages and unsuspecting travelers. Traveling around the rest of Hyrule was scary, especially for someone who was used to the peace and quiet that was obtainable in the desert. Sure, monsters roamed around the desert sands just as they did anywhere else, but a little lizalfos here and there was nothing compared to huge scary might of the guardians. One hit from their beam was enough to destroy whole buildings or take a person's life. Yein hated that part of traveling, especially around Central Hyrule where the guardians were the most populous. It didn't help that Yein preferred traveling by foot, as he never could gain the skill of training wild horses.
Knowing everything he knew, Yein foolishly hoped for an easy travel back to the desert. Once he heard the humming of a guardian that had honed in on him and those calculating ticks, he knew that he was done for. Within seconds, a powerful beam would fire at him, taking his life in an instant. He just closed his eyes and prayed that someone would show up to save him.
