Rut: Every few months Alphas go through a period called Rut. During this time an Alpha can be very hot headed and is easy to provoke. They also have a difficult time controlling themselves in the presence of a potential mate.
Knotting: This occurs during an Alpha's rut cycle or when they are mating with a partner who is also on their cycle. During mating, their partner's pheromones interact with the Alpha's and when the Alpha s the base of his swells and prevents him from pulling out. This ensures that the receptive partner stays filled with the copious amount of seed and increases the likelihood of pregnancy. This is called “knotting” and lasts for thirty minutes at the most, but usually only lasts a few minutes. Knotting does not occur unless the partner they are sleeping with is on their cycle (heat, rut, or the itch) or the Alpha is in Rut via pills.
Omegas
Heat: This is a very exhausting occurrence for the Omega and everyone around them. The person in heat gives off a very alluring scent during this time which attracts a mate. It usually drives men into a frenzy. Fighting over an Omega is common. Not only does it drive the potential mates crazy, but the person in heat deliriously craves to be mated. This is especially frustrating for a non-bonded Omega in heat and in order to prevent themselves from getting pregnant by a random male, they often take “sick days” for the duration of their cycle and go off to secluded dens. If they have a mate, the couple rarely leaves the bedroom. However, the dominant mate is expected to care for their Omega in every way: including fetching his meals, pampering him, and ing him up.
betas
The Itch: Despite their natural inability to reproduce, Betas also go through an uncomfortable period during mating season where their hormones flare up. It is less severe than Rut or Heat, but it is frustrating nonetheless. They become sensitive to touch and feel overheated. They can self lubricate like Omegas, but they do not Knot. Betas are infertile, but they can buy pills to procreate..
