Event Room ➟ Bonfire Night! [ July 27 - July 30 ]

Miyoung walked into the vast plains as she saw a small fire. She walked to the once lively bonfire as she took a seat at an empty log. Her legs swung to side to side as she poked at the flicking flames. She sneezed after a sudden breeze ruffed her robes. She stared at the brightly lit sky with too many stars to count. She chuckled emptily at the empty place. There wasn't a single person to enjoy the fantastic view. Her eyes watered as the wind changed direction and ashes flew into her face. She stepped out of the line of smoke as she brushed tears away. Her eyes watered but not as badly as the loneliness she felt in her heart. She brushed the remaining ash off her robes as she headed for her house. She hoped for an easy question for entry.

Kyuhyun wanted to reply to what the other had said, but before he could, he was stunned when he felt Changmin's arms around him. What was the Gryffindor doing? Just a 'sorry' wasn't going erase all the pain he had felt, the loneliness and the empty feeling he had grown accustomed to when he surveyed other students surrounded by their friends. The damage done to him was probably already beyond repair. That's what Kyuhyun believes anyway. Something in him made him want to cling onto Changmin, hug him back, but was it worth it, if there was a chance that he would be thrown away again? "I... I can't forgive you.. not yet... " Kyuhyun's usually firm voice was wavering, like how he was reverting back to his old self and he hated it. Kyuhyun pushed Changmin away lightly. He wasn't exactly used to being in such close proximity with anyone anymore. Wiping the remains of his tears Kyuhyun felt a presence behind them and when he turned his head, his eyes clashed with confused warm chocolate brown ones which belonged to his new friend, Donghae.

@Cho Kyuhyun Donghae eagerly made his way over to the campfire, excitement clearly written on his face. His smile unconsciously widened as he approached and he hurried along. Kyuhyun had invited him last night after one of their usual tutoring sessions, saying that he should go and hang out with the Slytherin. It had been a casual conversation, but Donghae couldn't help the sudden flutter of butterflies in his stomach. Over the past week, the two had gotten much closer than Donghae had anticipated. Kyuhyun was... interesting, to say the least. He felt this unexplicable force that always pulled him towards the other boy. Donghae would never admit it, but he really liked Kyuhyun. Probably more that he should. With that thought, the Hufflepuff frowned slightly before brushing it off. It was probably nothing anyway. Donghae always got overly enthuastic about making new friends. He spotted Kyuhyun's form from afar and was about to call out to him when he suddenly stopped short. Was that.. Changmin beside him?

@Cho Kyuhyun Changmin let out an awkward laugh when Kyuhyun agreed to his statement. "Yeah... If only I knew then what I know now, I wouldn't have let you go. At the very least, not like that." The Gryffindor sighed and glanced over at Kyuhyun again, slightly taken back by the other's glistening eyes. Was he..? "K-Kyu." Changmin felt something tug at his heart, not knowing that he even had one anymore. He had grown so accustomed to feeling nothing that when he did, Changmin had no idea what to do. Going by instinct, he hesitantly wraps his arms around Kyuhyun and hugged him. "I'm sorry."

Hae Byeol scratched the back of her head as she finally stopped running, arriving near the bonfire. "I'm extremely late" she pouted as she catched her breathe. She took a seat next to a random person, hugging her knees close to her chest. She smiled at the warmth the fire gave for it had been a very cold night. She looked around and saw everyone chatting happily or singing campfire songs. She smiled. She loved the happy aura that surrounded her.

@Shim Changmin Kyuhyun heard his answer as it was only them with the crackling of the flames in the background. Can choices that one made really be blamed on their own stupidity? However, he couldn't deny he missed him. After 6 ing long years finally admitted missing his best friend. No matter how cold and closed off he made himself, burying his nose in the dusty books that lay on the shelf of the library he couldn't smother the feelings that lay dormant in his heart. "You.. you are really stupid." Kyuhyun could feel the tears threatening to fall, but he would not show weakness ever again. He would have thought his tears had run out by now since he swore he cried rivers back then, but it didn't seem to be the case. He quickly wiped his hand over his eyes, trying so hard to keep up his mask.

@Cho Kyuhyun Changmin had to strain to hear the Slytherin's soft voice. For a second, he was reminded of the old Kyuhyun - innocent, shy, and just a little awkward. Changmin missed him. He missed /them/. The Gryffindor bit down on his bottom lip and found no explanation for the other's question. Was it because he didn't want to get dragged down along with Kyuhyun? Had it been because of the pressure his parents gave him? Was it simply out of fear that he had let go of the one thing he had wanted to hold onto? Changmin said nothing for a while because he was too ashamed of his answers. "Because I was stupid." He finally muttered, half to himself and half to Kyuhyun.

@Shim Changmin It felt foreign to be reminded that they had once been best friends. No one would know because they've been known to be enemies ever since year one. Though Kyuhyun did feel a little better hearing it. At least he knew that he really did had a friend."You.. too." He mumbled softly, knowing his voice would crack if he spoke any louder. For some reason, Kyuhyun had always had this soft spot for the Gryffindor, even though on the outside he hated Changmin, he couldn't help but wish that they could relive the memories of his childhood that never lasted. There was one last question that haunted Kyuhyun, and he wanted to just get it out of the way. "Then what was the real reason you broke off our friendship, Changmin?"

@Cho Kyuhyun At Kyuhyun's hesistant but honest reply, Changmin let out a breath he hadn't been aware he was holding. "I know we were." The Gryffindor looked down at his hands as he fiddled with them for a moment, a sinking sense of despair settling heavy in his heart. He was almost afraid to look up because he knew Kyuhyun was on the verge of tears. Changmin always knew. It took every ounce of his willpower to stop himself from scooting over and throwing his arms around the other boy. 6 years ago, that would have been the frist thing he did whenever Kyuhyun was upset. But now things were different. He wasn't sure how the Slytherin would take it so he played it safe. "You... You were my best friend, Kyu. Really."

@Shim Changmin It took a moment for Kyuhyun to think of how to reply. It was hard to say, now that the gap between them had already been 6 years since the day they were sorted. "I... I believe we were." Doubt was evident even in his own words, but what could he do? Changmin had destroyed his trust when he threw him away. 'I want to believe you did it because your parents made you.. but, it still hurt. I had no one... not even family.' Just thinking about this made his heart clench in dispair. Why did it still hurt? Kyuhyun wanted to cry then, to let loose of everything that was keeping him sane. His life was a mess and he was suffocating in it with no one to pull him out from that black hole that was slowly eating away at his heart.

@Cho Kyuhyun Changmin blinked blankly for a moment before whirling around to face Kyuhyun. He couldn't believe that he was really asked this. 'Am I really that terrible in your eyes? That I would actually fake my friendship with you and then ditch you with the intention of hurting you since the beginning?' Changmin didn't even know how to reply. 'Yes, we were, thank you very much. You were the best friend I ever had.' He wanted to yell it all out but helf back out of fear. "What do you think?" He asked instead, wanting to hear how Kyuhyun truly saw him.

@Shim Changmin The lake grew still as the students slowly dissipated until it was only Kyuhyun and Changmin left by the blazing bonfire. The only sound in the background was the crackling of the flames that the night sky. Kyuhyun scanned the area and no one else was around but them. Perhaps this was a good time to ask what had always been bothering him. Receiving an honest answer or not mattered not. He just wanted to hear Changmin confirm it.

"Were we ever friends to begin with?" Kyuhyun's low baritone voice broke the silence between them. It was hallow as he just stared off into the fire. No one was around, so why not get things sorted out now. They weren't going to get any better chance than this.

@Cho Kyuhyun Changmin had just been asking about the other's boy headache; but judging from Kyuhyun's cryptic response, he knew he had answered to something completely different. "Oh." Changmin replied dumbly, unable to think of anything appropiate to say. What could he reply with? 'I'm sorry' didn't even begin to describe how he felt, and he had a feeling Kyuhyun would simply brush off his apology like last time. What's done is done. There was nothing he could do to fix it. So, Changmin remained silent as well, dwelling on his past mistakes and regrets.

It was getting late but neither of them seemed to notice. All the oher students had started to return to their dorms until Changmin and Kyuhyun were the only ones left.

@Shim Changmin Was he okay? Kyuhyun asked himself that question so many times before and he would just tell himself that he was, but in reality he wasn't. He held Changmin's gaze for a bit, eyes empty and hallow as he processed the words the other asked him. "As okay as I'll ever be.." Kyuhyun trailed off, as he adverted his eyes back to the fire, his heart beating steadily. What was Changmin's game this time? Why did he even care if he was okay? He hates him... for leaving him and crushing his hopes. He hates the feeling that his young innocent heart back then had been toyed and played with. Kyuhyun wanted to lash out at Changmin, but his face remained void of emotions. However, even with all that has happened.. he couldn't help but miss it. He wanted to ask Changmin if they were ever friends or was it just his wishful thinking. There was so many things going on in his mind that he had just spaced out.

@Cho Kyuhyun "I wanted a break from them." Changmin muttered, not knowing how true the statement was before he actually said it aloud. It killed him to admit it, but it was tiring hanging out with Hajoon and the rest of them. He always had an image to uphold, a role to play. Nothing he said or did with them felt real. Sure, they had fun sometimes. But it would never compare to the feeling Kyuhyun used to give him. He sighed a little and kicked at the dirt with his foot. "I'm fine, don't worry about it." A small smile tugged at the corners of Changmin's lips. Even after all this time, Kyuhyun was still the same. He felt a slight pang in his heart and turned to meet the other's eyes. "Are /you/ okay?"

@Shim Changmin Indeed, Kyuhyun had told Changmin about the event, but still it was a matter of choice for the Gryffindor to show up or not. "I did. I'm rather surprised you came alone." The fact that his goons weren't here made him a bit more comfortable around the other. This scene with them sitting in front of a fire reminded him of when they were younger. A secret camping trip.. well a secret for Changmin and Kyuhyun could pretty much do anything and his father wouldn't care. Sometimes he wished he could erase the past. How stupid was he? Any type of friendship or relationship with a pureblood was looked down upon and never lasted... he still wondered why his child self believed in those bonds to actually work, but at least it gave him a chance to know how it felt to have someone there for him... even if they turned out to be lies. Kyuhyun took a deep breath and glanced at Changmin, his cheek still slightly swollen. "Did you ice your face enough?"

@Cho Kyuhyun "I don't. This is the first time I've bothered to show up." Changmin spoke frankly, eyeing the rest of the students warily. They all looked like they were having fun, chatting amongst themselves and laughing loudly. None of them had bothered to come up to him though and Changmin knew why. He looked down, suddenly feeling a wave of loneliness. In an attempt to distract himself, he turned his head upwards and stared into the vast night sky. "You told me to come, didn't you?"

@Shim Changmin The crackling of the orange flames lit up the evening sky as Kyuhyun watched over once side of the bonfire. Being head boy, he, the head girl and the prefects had to do their jobs of making sure things were okay during the event. A lone figure on one of thelogs caught his attention and to his surprise, it was Changmin, but he was not with his friends this time. Treading quietly, he took a seat on the the other side of the bench where the Gryffindor was. "A surprise to see you here. I wouldn't have thought you'd ever come to these interhouse events." He spoke nonchalantly as Kyuhyun's eyes focused on the fire and occasionally darting around the site.

Changmin had no idea why he was here. Even as his feet had brought him closer and closer to the nearing fire, he still hadn't found a decent enough reason. Was it just because Kyuhyun had invited him? Well, to be accurate, the Slyherin hadn't even invited him. He had just said 'it'd be nice' if Changmin came. And here he was, sitting down on one of the logs like a complete fool. He stared into the fire and watched as the flames danced around in the light breeze. "You're an idiot." He whispered to himself.

@Hwang Miyoung It's been a exhausting day again for Minhyuk. He may be a prankster and loves annoying the hell out of Changmin, the arrogant Gryffindor, but was in need of a break. Perhaps this bonfire tonight could clear his mind for him. He sighed softly as he watched the crackling of the blazing fire, basking in the warmth it radiated.

Tiffany entered, amazed at the fire, it was glowing brightly in the darkness. She wondered if anyone else was here? Her friends perhaps? She wrapped her robes around her as a breeze flew by. She softly hummed as she walked towards the fire. The fire crackled loudly as she threw a branch in.
