"don't stay out at night, jaemin," his parents would tell him. before he was turned, jaemin was a child of the sun. he had his fellow scholars to tease and mock as they run around in the field, handlettering hanguls in trained calligraphy, and moving coal to warm his hands in the winter. and one night of childish adventures in the forest has cost him his life. when a distinguished scholar thought to be dead comes back to the palace acting like a feral beast, it ought not to end well for that scholar. jaemin was junked out of his position and sent home. back home, his family threw salt on him and begged him to leave them alone.
with a family, once so loving and protective, now shunning him, jaemin picked the pieces of his broken heart off the floor of his home, and slipped off into the streets. despite struggling with his elevated strength, speed and senses, jaemin soon got the hang of it and began lifting unpaid items off of poor unknowing vendors.

the russian, the japanese, the americans; jaemin has witnessed and suffered through all of the ups and downs. he's seen drawings come to live and turn into what we call a flat led tv screen now and a bulky box-sized phone get reduced into a small, fancy block of metal. but what he also did was watch his own family grow old, birth new generations, die off and repeat until they all became sacrificial lamb of the wars.
he has been through multiple heartbreaks and grievances that emotions almost seemed like a joke to him. his beliefs and views took a turning point and he decided that he wouldn't let his emotions get the best of him. unless someone manages to get rid of him for good, he will have to continue to grief and be in sorrow. and he didn't want that for himself.

a century of thieving had turned jaemin on the gray path of the borrowing and never returning. thieving was second nature to him at this point. he befriended a bunch of homeless thieves who he stole alongside with and when they decided to join a gang, he did too. decades after, his friends either died off or disappeared while he continued to work his way up. he now finds himself second in command in hermes, his gang now like family too him, and a tuned taste for the finer things in life.

jaemin stands at 181 cm and has pale, porcelain skin. his eyes are a dark, deep brown, but can be changed into amber at will or at a wiff of blood. he has naturally dark and straight hair, but occasionally likes to resort to dyeing it just for fun. his build is average, leaning towards the thin side. his boyish looks are easy to put you off the trail of his real age.
personality-wise, jaemin puts on a show. he is carefree and lighthearted, a joker to all but himself. he still carries a faint hint of his old self from before he was turned, but centuries of grueling lifestyle has shaped him into someone so distant from what he was. he is confident, suave and sometimes a little lackluster, but on the inside, he's broken and devastated. when triggered against his will, he loses half of his usual composed demeanor and acts without much accord. he usually comes back to his senses over time or with the comforting touch of a familiar presence.
