for years seung hyun worked as a security guard, his formal training covered people of a high profile and he was often entrusted with the title of "head of security". It was his job to keep everyone safe. 

During an assignment for one particular famous client seung hyun was involved in a car accident which led to the actresses death. being widely loved and adored by many (including the security guard) seung hyun vowed to uncover what had happened to her and by extension, himself. This led him to go rogue and use his training to uncover a secret plan to steal the actresses wealth. 

with every secret he uncovered seunghyun discovered a dozen more. eventually he found out the source of the plan. the actresses former husband who was set to earn everything from her will. wanting revenge for the actress seung hyun formulated a plan of his own, one to take out the boyfriend. he shot the man from across the street and disappeared into the night. 

knowing he could never go back to his former agency seung hyun spiralled into bankruptcy and finally mourned the death of the woman he had loved. little did he know he had taken revenge for the moon family and one evening was approached by a member. she explained that seung hyun had done a remarkable job as a citizen and that his skills could be useful to prevent more innocent deaths. if he was interested he would be paid for his work.

seung hyun agreed and worked his way through the ranks. at first he simply did security jobs for the family, it was like being back at his former workplace. sometimes escorting members of the family to events, working undercover as a driver, etc. it was pretty obvious to the family that he was loyal to them and proved it several times. 

he was promoted to the highest rank after taking a bullet for one of the family. this is an open background connection. He cannot tell you much about his family life, or his life before the accident. this is due to sustained head trauma that he suffered as a result of the accident. he is unaware of it for now.
