A familiar, is basically an animal spirit guide for magic-users.
There's this huge spiel in books about what they do and how to get in contact with them but
hERE'S HOW IT WORKS FOR SHAZAM:
When you come into the rp, you'll have the choice of 1 of 7 different eggs.
The egg you choose will determine the type of soul your familiar will have and what items it'll bring you---
but we'll get to that in a minute.
For instance...

There are 6 other eggs to choose from, so remember to pick wisely!
After 200 (subject to change) points/posts, your little soul egg will hatch and you'll officially have your own familiar!
A familiar is YOUR spirit guide, so you can choose what animal you'd like it to represent!
For the roleplay's opening, you can only choose real, existing animals.We're saving the mythical ones for events. #koffs #koffs e u e
From then on, your familiar will be with you every step of the way.
You'll understand it and it'll understand you.
When you get close enough, you'll even be able to take on its form!
It's like an exchange of sorts...
"I trust you with my magic. You trust me with yours."
C o o l, yeah?
A familiar isn't NEEDED, but having one around is handy af.
They teach you lots of grade A stuff, especially for beginner magic users.
They also gather all sorts of items for you.
If you've ever played any of the latest Pokemon installments, it's like that. ♡♡♡
Hatch an egg.
Take care of the familiar.
The familiar picks up magical items you can use for your spells.
On that note, checking your boxes as often as possible will help a ton!
A familiar isn't just a cool magic pet to have around.
It's a friend! A companion! It feeds off of your energy and the bond you share!
