i take breaks. i'm often away for a month or two, sometimes longer. ofc you might lose some of your interactions and others might lose momentum, but there is no point in forcing yourself, it's a hobby and it's supposed to be fun

i've stopped actually rp'ing because of that very reason, no matter how much i LOVE writing. i only write threads that accidentally start from chats and get out of hand, because i usually do have muse and energy for those, but stop replying as soon as i feel like i'm pushing myself. never push yourself, because you're only digging yourself deeper (speaking out of experience). I've taken big breaks before, but those also only help temporarily, sadly enough (for me at least)

I take long breaks if not I listen to music that inspires me to write :3

I do PM rps. I tend to let my partners know I'm low on muse and need a break, then I stop replying. Sometime's I'll pop back in to do a reply to the ones I'm really interested in or can muster a reply for. But don't force yourself. Just communicate with your partners. The ones worth keeping will understand and wait. If you think you'll be gone too long, pop back in and say so. Don't leave them hanging thinking you'll be back within a month if it goes on longer than that.

If you're in a group rp, Ik some places will give you a time limit for hiatuses. It could be just as stressful to keep up with that or to feel like you're holding someone up or wasting someone's time in those spaces. I say, leave the rp of you're gone longer than 2 weeks. You can join back later on.

Typically, if I’m experiencing burn out, it means it’s time to take a break from role-play and approach one of my other outlets. This, however, can be complicated if you don’t have any other outlets. But typically burnout means to take a break. Step away and step it down. People forget that role-playing is a mental, stimulating hobby and if you’re mentally spent you have to recharge.

hello! if i feel too burned out, i usually never push myself to do more when i feel like a mess, nor i write until i feel slightly better. listening to music helps (and can guarantee classical music does wonders). surround yourself with coffee or things that you like; take breaks in between and read something for inspiration. c:
