Huzzah, hurray, I have yet again,
the adventurer's heart from the clutches of men.
I'll protect and I'll guard with sword in hand,
heed to her call and every demand

Description

› jin bomi (neé hwa) — 화봄이 / 火普美 (lee naeun).
› 29th of september, 1844.
› marchioness; florist, deliverywoman, errand girl.
› observant, diligent, hard working, naturally caring, kind-hearted, generous, naive, often too forgiving.
› isfp 6w5, neutral good.
› quality time, giving gifts.
› hangul, chinese (conversational).
› married to marquess jin jaekyung of house of haetae.
› head florist; designs all the arrangements and manages their flower shop. also makes small deliveries for her family so she's very often out and about in the upper class districts.

bomi grew up heavily doted on by older siblings and cousins. she was born during the autumn season but was named after spring both because of family traditions as well as in hopes that she'd exhibit warmth and childlike joy.

even when she was a little girl, she'd always had a certain charm when it came to flowers. growing them, pressing them, drying them, turning them into arrangements so glorious that their beauty grows exponentially has always come natural to the girl, like second nature (perhaps thanks to her name). in general, bomi seemed to be skilled at making pretty things even prettier. when she was 7, she was gifted an old piri by her aunt on her birthday — she polished the piri relentlessly, day in and day out, until it you could not tell it apart from one brand new. her aunt taught her the basics; in fact, nearly everything she knows had been taught by her family: basic knowledge on how to read and write, how to sew, how to plant, how to make music. she had grown up in the farmlands all her life; she was happy, content, and exceedingly happy in her own little world.

when she was eleven, her family took in a boy two years older than she was and he was the first stranger she's ever met. to say that she was smitten would be a grave understatement. it was the first time she's ever experienced being shy and anything less than chatty. three years pass and the boy leaves, forgetting his coat that he lent her.

two years after, her family receives big news: they had been granted a spot in the markets of the capital. bomi and her siblings are given the opportunity to stay there and become the other end of the family business. at fifteen, bomi started working for her family as kkulppoppo's head florist and deliverywoman.

however, she had no idea that life in the capital would be so convoluted. it had taken her quite some time to get used to the many rules, spoken and unspoken. especially once she started making deliveries to upper class families, she learned that there was one rule and one rule only: and that is, to never say no. being an already meek girl to begin with, bomi was soon taken advantage of people in power who would rather impose on an unpaid young girl because she could not refuse. she earned herself the reputation of an "errand girl," doing and agreeing to all sorts of requests and favours from other noble houses. she keeps to herself and remains quiet, taking only her little bits and pieces of information she gathers from observation to turn them into stories to amuse herself in private.

years later, she meets another boy by happenstance, not knowing that he'd change her life forever. the two quickly become best friends; he knows her like the back of his hand, and she knows him better than her own self. against bomi's best wishes, she found herself falling deeper and deeper in love with the gentleman. however it was never meant to work out, because of their statuses and his heart belonging to another. soon enough, they start seeing each other less and less, leaving bomi in mourning over her closest friendship.

then, she was soon brought out of her gloom by a proposal: business partners in china wish to affiliate with the family for the upcoming trade season, and young bomi, now 22, was chosen to go to shanghai and represent the family. with the greatest joy of her life also came her greatest heartbreak, as on the day of her 23rd birthday, the one man she had loved more than any other left her with the most painful memory of all.

she left hanseong as a girl and came back a year and some months after as a woman, with a learned poise and an air of wisdom by her. hwa bomi is now a flower in the heat of spring, in full bloom and in full color.

favourites!
- food: sundubujjigae.
- drink: mindeulle-cha.
- color: yellow, green, and purple.
- flowers: sunflowers and plum blossoms.

appearance!
- when working, her hair is more often than not in a simple plait, occasionally decorated with a daenggi, dwikkoji, or braided with flowers. otherwise, when in private or in the fields with family, it is kept loose.
- despite the popular trend of long chimas, her hanboks are usually shorter in length and made with cotton instead of silk, especially when at her family's farm. aside from silk being more expensive, cotton is also more breathable for the working girl. despite her status, bomi likes to make sure that her clothes are well taken care of, especially those that have been passed down by her older relatives. she prefers lighter, muted colours like yellows, blues, and pinks.

headcannons!
- she's initially very shy and timid, but chatty and bubbly after warming up.
- great singer, but no one aside from her family has ever heard her sing.
- her reading and writing is limited but she loves to read as much as she can, she's very diligent with studying by herself.
- writes little blurbs of fanfiction about the upper classes based on observations to practice her language skills.
- hopeless romantic amd a daydreamer, may very well fall in love with every dashing gentleman within a 30 foot radius.
- surprisingly frequents quite a few gisaeng houses, as she appreciates their company.
- also surprisingly quite strong for her stature, as she is used to manual labour.
- all in all content with her life and is both happy and honored to be working for her family's legacy. deeply grateful for the life she has been given, does not wish for anything more than to honor her family.

★ dedication, teamwork, diligence, and prosperity. the house sigil of the hwa family, the honeybee, is a symbol of their many centuries of hard work as land cultivating gardeners and farmers. this is also in reference to the abundance of said insect in the county, and how this abundance is the reason why they have survived and thrived for as long as they have. the honeybees pollinate the flowers in their fields, as well as produce honey for 벌꿀 술 (mead), the best selling and most frequently produced alcoholic product by the family. their sigil depicts a honeybee on a haebaragi or sunflower, both of which are yellow and black in color.

the hwa (火) family are based in yeongdong county, gyeongsang-do, operating in a self-owned farmland since the early days of the joseon era (late 1400s). they have joined forces with the kang clan of tamna (modern day jeju) when they came to the province just before the start of the 19th century. the kangs brought their liquor to the farmlands of the honeybee house and the two productions have co-existed ever since. in 1859, they were given the opportunity to set up a stall in the markets of the capital, thus giving birth to the brand "kkulppoppo" (꿀뽀뽀, "kiss of honey"), a joint distillery and flower shop. the hwas are on the more affluent side in terms of their standing as a sangmin clan, but are still considered working class nonetheless.

the hwas are mostly buddhist, but some women in the family choose to continue and uphold the shamanistic roots of tamna women, so they practice pantheism. particularly, they worship jacheongbi (the goddess of agriculture and love), paritaegi (the goddess of the boundary of worlds and guide to the underworld), jowangshin (the goddess of the home and hearth), and samgong or gameunjang-agi (the goddess of luck and destiny).

the members of the family are father hwa gunoh (59, npc — sung dongil), mother kang yera (55 — npc, kim seohyung), hwa gyeoul (35), hwa gaeul (32-28, open), hwa yeoreum (27-25, open), and hwa bomi.
