The Beom clan were jungins known for interpreters. a house that focused on being well educated, each child was expected to learn multiple languages and go on to official government duties. By the time Beom Daesung was born, his father, Beom Wonsik, had been translating for foreign diplomats, official government correspondence, and more. daesung was bright and did well in his academic studies, but it wasn't what he felt called to do. he spent his free time learning martial arts and sparring with his older brother, daeil. the feeling of a sword as an extension of his body came easily to him. 

while their father did not understand the young boys love for swordplay, he did not hold them back either. self defense would come in handy when they would move on to working in government. there was always a risk that one could upset the wrong person, or the wrong group, and have a target on their back. 

when daesung was 18, he was coming home from a night out after enjoying some live performances. What he saw in the courtyard of his family's home sent chills down his spine. his father was lying in a pool of blood, with the young man's sword lying next to him. in his panic, daesung rushed over to his father's body, rolling it over to see the large gash across his abdomen. he knew he had to call for help. as he stood up, covered in blood, he picked up his sword. in that moment, his older brother came home. 

The two men argued, daeil accusing daesung of murdering their father. eventually, the argument reached a fever pitch and daeil challenged daesung to a duel to prove his innocence. daesung did not wish to fight his brother, he pleaded in between the clashing of their swords, hoping his brother would see reason. but he did not. daeil was not holding back on daesung and in order to protect himself, he killed his older brother. the two corpses lying next to each other, blood surrounding daesung. 

he couldn't call the guards that night. he had to escape. 

on that night, the beom clan died and beom daesung was no more. he buried his father and his brother alone, said prayers over them. then he took all the money the family had and fled to nihon. using his family's political ties, he was able to find work for noble families during his time there. he spent years training with some of the best ronin he could find - and if they were willing to teach him. 

During his almost 9 years in nihon, he went by the name shimura daisuke. in addition to training with the best swordsmen he could find, he was taking jobs from numerous wealthy officials. an guard, an assassin, a spy - whatever kept him busy and put his skills to good use. but he knew he couldn't stay away from joseon forever. someday he would have to return and right the wrongs of the past. 

in the early months of 1870, the man returned to his home, under a new name - lee jeonghui. With the money he had saved from nihon, he exchanged his currency and began to drift from village to village, until he returned to the capital. His only goal - to find his father's killer and balance the scales.

ONE. You can call me Rei, Moto, Mami, Motormother, or just by my character's name. i use she/her pronouns. I'm in my mid 20s. threads are a-ok with me but for this character, i prefer if they were discussed beforehand. LONG AS WE KEEP THEM IN APPROPRIATE SPACES (DMS, MATURE ROOMS WHERE IT'S ALLOWED), IS FINE WITH ME! ALSO LONG TERM ROMANTIC/ENDGAME CONNECTIONS AREN'T REQUIRED TO WRITE A MATURE THREAD WITH jeonghui.

TWO. My timezone is GMT -4 (EST in the US) and I work a full time job with an inconsistent schedule, often consisting of nights and weekends. Because of that, my replies may be sporadic and sometimes, I do lose muse. As for reminders, do feel free to remind me if I haven't replied after 2 weeks!

THREE. I will generally tend to mirror the writing of whoever my partner is. So if you prefer semi-para, I'll do my best to match that. If you prefer full paragraphs/novella, I can mirror that too.

FOUR. I'm more than okay with more detailed plots, with more spur of the moment meetings, and love deep long term connections. Just DM me if you're interested in any of my connections + plots, or if you want to pitch one!

FIVE. Given the roleplay's format, I would generally prefer to write in rooms. However, if we have a plot that involves  and you aren't comfortable with in a rated room, we can make a group pm. Nothing on walls.

SIX. Always plot out angst, drama, or things with potential triggers just in case I'm not in the right headspace for it.

SEVEN. here's my list of do nots: Assuming rei = the character. Being petty or shady. Multiple reminders about replying within a short span of time. Doing something ed up midplot without talking to me first. I can, and will, straight up avoid interacting with you if you do these things. Do not mistake my kindness and easygoingness for being a doormat! If there's any concerns, I prefer trying to talk one on one to work things out so that both parties can come to an understanding. I don't bite! I'm human, you're human.
