P.I. Jay's Office

Narsha 10 years ago
@Jay Park It seemed like forever as he messed with his office, making sure everything was in order. There was an intense urge to about being OCD or something but she was borrowing him for his company so she decided against it. When he was finally ready to go, however, she did let out an exaggerated and exasperated sigh. Of course she knew he would pick up on that and it was exactly what she wanted.

"Most of the foot traffic that comes looking for you doesn't need a tattoo as much as they need therapy and a good lawyer." she retorted, hopping down the steps like a bunny behind him until they reached her floor. "You know, you should smile more. It's actually really kind of nice when your face isn't screwing it up." Narsha stuck her tongue out at him and grabbed the front of his belt, basically dragging him out of her shop towards the little burger joint across the street.

@Narsha Jay made sure to lock his drawers and close the window and shutters. He enjoyed closing time, and methodically the PI went about putting everything where it should be when he needed it the next day. As he finished putting the last folder away and locking the cabinet, he put the ring of keys he used back in his pocket and ushered the lady out the door. Jay was about to head out before he turned to her and said "Just one second, forgot something." He walked towards his desk and grabbed his pack of cigarettes, placing them in his pocket. Back by the door he flipped the lights off, closed, and locked the entrance to his office.

"Well," Jay began to talk confidently as they walked down the stairs that would lead through Narsha's tattoo parlor and to exit, "I figure with the amount of foot traffic I bring through your place, just to get to my place, at the very least you owe me one... maybe two meals." A small smile parted his lips; Jay was hoping Narsha wouldn't notice it however. "Anywhere really, just the least you could do." He stopped walking to pull a smoke out of the pack, and looked at it for a while before deciding against it.

@Jay Park The smoke didn't really bother her that much as she spent a lot of her time around bikers and such because they were her clientele but it was kind of nice of him to consider her. Narsha wouldn't thank him though, or at least not outright because she figured it would cause some kind of problem with the whole bad boy aura he was projecting. It was probably part of why she felt so comfortable around him and never really concerned herself about the way they were together.

"It would be sad to let it go to waste." she agreed and craned her neck slightly to watch as he grabbed his jacket, admiring what little of his form she could see under his clothes. He was definitely fine but she never felt it was the right time to say so. Well, that and he was a paying customer that she didn't want to burn that bridge. It was as he said, they had to eat.

"What am I buying for this poor Mistah Jay to eat?" she asked as she headed towards the door. Her lips curled up into a teasing smile, wondering if that comment was enough just to needle his male pride. She really would pay for him, it wasn't an empty threat, but she wondered if he would let her get away with it.

@Narsha Jay looked at his ashtray. It was getting rather full, and the room did smell a bit. He assumed Narsha wasn't bothered or perhaps the girl was simply too nice to bring it up. He looked over at his empty day planner and sighed. He wouldn't be missing out on anything.

Jay spun once more to face the window and got up. He flipped the latches and opened the second story window to let the air in. As he peered out into the the outside world he could feel the slight breeze flow past him and the warmth of the spring sun strike his face. "You know Narsha, I suppose it would be dumb to let this day go to waste just sitting around."

He shuffled some papers around on his desk. "No new case in a while. You know, I should be happy no one's in trouble but still, a man's gotta eat, you know?" He gave her a genuine smile. He grabbed his jacket from the coat rack at the side of the room and threw it over his shoulder. "So how about we go eat?"

@Jay Park Something about his voice brought her normally high spirits down just a bit as she opened the door. Her head poked in first before she followed it with the rest of her body. "Just wanted to check in on my Mistah Jay." she replied with a laugh and walked towards one of the two chairs facing his desk. "Judging from your expression and the amount of ashes in your ash tray things have been pretty boring for you too. Maybe we can find a way to liven things up."

Narsha pulled the chair right up to his desk and sat down, crossing her arms over the surface as she took in his features. The window behind him gave and odd backlight that made him seem almost ethereal or angelic but she knew that was pretty far from the truth. "The only thing I have for tonight will take an hour tops. Well, that and it is just a koi fish." she grumbled and stuck out her tongue.

@Narsha As he heard the woman's voice call out his name, he knew immediately who it was. Jay had gotten a few tattoos done over the years in the parlor beneath his office, and as he always had the same artist. Narsha, the lovely little minx was as playful towards him as she was talented at her craft, and on occasion the two had shared a few drinks at the bar a couple of times now and then. They never got too personal though, just talking about work stuff mostly. While normally her antics were burdensome, he had grown accustomed to her checking up on him on occasion. It was nice to have something besides having people come to him with his problems.

"What is it Narsha?" He said, trying to sound calm and collected. Jay spun back around so he could face the door when she'd inevitably enter. "You can come in by the way, it's a slow day."

@Jay Park Manicured nails tilted her phone towards her and pushed the button so she could check the time. The numbers flashed in front of her eyes and she bit down on her lower lip in an irritated manner. Her next scheduled appointment was still a ways off and there was like nothing to do in the shop until then. Everything had been cleaned and cleaned again until it almost shone but that was pretty standard for an afternoon during the week.

Then it hit her: the secretary could watch the shop but she could go visit the guy upstairs. His name was Jay and he had come in many times over the years to get his tattoos, all of which she had done. They had become something like friends and so she thought maybe it would be a good idea to drop in on him, if he was there anyway.

"I'm heading out for a little bit, text me if you need anything." she called and slid the phone in the back pocket of her tight blue jeans. Narsha stepped out of the door and went up the stairs, her flats making no sound as she practically ran up to the second floor. She stopped in front of the door with his name on the frosted glass window and adjusted her form-fitting tank top before knocking lightly on the wooden frame. "Mistah Jay?" the woman called playfully in a high-pitched voice.

@Narsha The light of the sun was beaming through the open window behind Jay. His put his cigarette out on the ashtray on his desk and he slowly spun around in his chair to look outside. Jay put his hand over his eyes to block the bright light as he peered out the window and on to the street below. He saw people walking to and fro, going about their lives. The investigator started to think about each person out there, just a story below, were all living their own lives. He played a game with himself, one he enjoyed, where he would make up a fictitious backstory for almost each person that past. It was a way to amuse himself as the work day dragged on but Park also believed it helped keep his senses sharp. After all, a great detective can tell a lot about a person by the way they walk, what they wear, or if they even take the time to look both ways before they cross a street.

It had been three days since his last case was solved, not much to be proud of. Each day since just had Jay getting more and more wound up. He needed an outlet, and that's when it happened, that's when she walked in.
