@『‎‏‏‎❛‎‎‏‏‎ ❖ ❜‏‏‎』 aeris noir。ᵈʳᵃᶜᵘˡᵃ peter paused to take a deep breath and clear his head. just ten minutes ago, the nurse for one of his patients called him to let him know of a change in condition: the little girl's liver was failing and needed a transplant as soon as possible. she'd been waiting for a match for a few weeks, but the healthcare team tried to expedite the process as much as they could after peter's assessment revealed that she'd be taking a turn for the worse without one. it just so happened that peter had been able to make the right connections and get a matching donor's liver to the hospital within a short time. he himself wasn't trained to perform surgery, so with a quick page sent to the surgeon on-call, he allowed that breath he'd been holding to pass his lips. he was in the middle of overseeing the nurse check his patient's vital signs when he heard someone enter the room. after looking towards the door, he hurried over to the other doctor with the patient's chart in his hand. "it's here." he said, quickly passing it to aeris. "her liver is failing... the nurse reported to me that haebin has been vomiting often, she's having pain in her abdominal area, and she's become confused just within a half hour. you can also take a look at her - her skin's rather yellow and her body is swollen." his hands slipped into the front two pockets of his labcoat. "have you ever done a liver transplant before? she needs one, stat."

He always told himself he would start packing his lunches, but the late nights, and the nearly constantly being on call made it all but impossible for him to follow through on that promise to himself. Which is how he found himself standing in the same line every day like clock work. Staring at the same menu and berating himself for not even trying to pack anything the night before. The food was always terrible, even more so to Aeris who found he never really enjoyed food much anyway. He ate because he felt like he needed to, but he'd long since gotten used to horribly bland flavor everything had. Ordering himself a salad he grabbed a bottle of water and an apple before he paid at the register and took his recipe, going to the next line to wait for his food to be ready. Hopefully he would manage to find a place to sit in the mess of staff, patients, and relatives crowded in the noisy room. If not he would just take his food back to his office, which he was sorely tempted to do anything. The only reason he didn't want to is because he knew he wouldn't eat it if he took it back to his office, he would spend his entire lunch break working.

Being on call was a familiarity for him, he found he really didn't seem to need sleep so it was just easier for him to take such unpredictable shifts. Removing his glasses he folded them and set them on top of the book on his desk, grabbing his coat and heading out of his office and down the familiar hallways of the hospital. "Peter?" He inquired when he made it to the room, he'd seen the other doctor occasionally in passing, but they'd never spoken beyond polite greeting. "What's going on? Do you have the patients file?"
