Drove the seven and a half hours home to a royally ed EVERYTHING.
On our way we saw flooding still very much in motion, trees fallen through homes, cars being into the ground. It was all kidns of ing insane.
Got back home to my garage emptied out by my roommate who stayed in one of the shelters here because he couldn't make it out to any family in time. The storm surge pushed water all the way up to the lip of my front door and didn't make it past which is an entire wholeass miracle? the damage we suffered was front and back porch, yard, and garage. Which I am extremely upset about; both of us had our childhood in there, my hunting and fishing stuff, all the stuff we couldn't find storage for in the house. Like everything, just covered in disgusting moldy water damage, completely unusable.
I've spent the past two days going through that stuff, going through insurance , cleaning up multiple yards (my own, both of my parents who have new spouses and are unable to do it themselves, and three of my neighbors who are handicapped and unable to do the hard labour) and working when I'm not doing that stuff because Delta is ing incredible and decided to fly out supplies for everyone in the county.
On top of this we had no power until literally ten minutes ago-- never plugged in a dead cell phone so fast in my life. Now I need to take my first not-cold-as-ice shower in days, cook real food instead of having non-perishable canned food, and bask in the air conditioner now murdering the 90+ degree weather I have been dying in since I got back.
I'll be back to get off my hiatuses and do replies and talk to people because son I miss everyone a whole in lot.
