If you'd like to view full screen on aff, click here.

Note 1: I have another AU roleplay and a profile layout to work on. I will most likely not accept any more commission requests for AU roleplays unless the theme of your roleplay really interests me and sparks muse for me. Because they take much longer to code, especially if the admin wants a pack like this and school has started for me again so it all depends on my availability and whether the theme of your roleplay interests me or not.

Note 2: Requests from other platforms will be prioritized more because rpr is lowkey a broken site ngl and some advanced coding techniques don't even work here. Just being honest with you guys! Unless nichiren matches the quality of both aff and rpr, coding on rpr is just boring for me atm < / 3

Note 3: Happy new year! I know I'm terrible at replying if you've tried to text me on discord or Instagram DSGKNDSG I pROMISE I STILL LOVE YOU. I just been busy with life and chasing the bag you feel. EXCITED FOR 2023 THOUGH, I'M GONNA START OFF THE YEAR BY SEEING NCT AGAIN FOR THE 3252354TH TIME IN THIS FIRST WEEK OF JAN. THIS TIME IN JOHNNY'S HOMETOWN WOO. SEE YAA THERE IF YOU'RE GOING! I will be helping a GO admin pass out freebies around the venue. Anywhores, stay safe and healthy < 3

Paradigm

Paradigm

dearest readers,

As the school year begins at Arcadia University in January 2023, society is once again abuzz as they await the return of their favorite celebrities: the sons and daughters of the nation's wealthiest and most respected nobles. After the riveting gossip they provided us last fall, I wonder what scandals and secrets the spring will bring forth. Whatever may come, know that I will be ready to share every little detail.

yours truly,
lady astor

A

t the beginning, the world was divided. Supernatural clans constantly warred with each other to claim the world as their own. At first, the four elemental nations kept to their own village settlements, but it was evident that they would not be able to avoid conflict much longer as other clans began to invade and ravage their lands. The elementals were terrorized by various other species and driven out of their homes.

The elementals suffered from these atrocities for a number of decades. However, as they moved around the world and their abilities were challenged, their powers began to evolve. Moreover, as they constantly traveled to escape ever looming danger posed by their enemies, the survivors of four elemental nations discovered each other.

While the individual nations didn’t stand a chance against the other supernatural clans on their own, they possessed a clear advantage together. They formed an alliance to reclaim their lands, but, eventually, they too set their eyes on the world.

The bloody campaigns forced the other supernatural species to retreat into hiding as the elementals claimed the world as theirs. The four nations divided the world among themselves and established a fifth state, Cor de Rosa, between their nations, where elementals from all the other nations could live and thrive together.

In Cor de Rosa, Arcadia University was founded nearly three hundred years ago to prepare the children of the upper class to be leaders and protectors of their great nations in case the other supernatural clans ever returned. While there are uprisings from other supernaturals every now and then, the elementals have effectively maintained their control for many centuries, allowing many to become comfortable and forget the fear that plagued their ancestors.

They turned their attention to raising their youth to maintain world peace and the utopia they had created — the paradigm of the perfect society.

However, with fear of their common enemies fading, is it only a matter of time before they all turn on each other for their own selfish reasons?

Perhaps.

But the world is different now. Civilized, as they call it. Wars are no longer fought on battlefields. Instead, they take place at parties, within study rooms, and in the dark corner of libraries. A whispered rumor is as good as any weapon and revealing certain secrets makes for the deepest wounds.

And there is one writer that keeps record of every skirmish.

. ➶ ˚ General guidelines

. ➶ ˚ rule one

Favorite the roleplay and stay subscribed for the duration of your stay.

. ➶ ˚ rule two

This is an original universe, original character, and literate AU roleplay that aims for muse development, storyline progression, and active writing. We will not accept applications that do not align with the goals we aim to promote, therefore, we reserve the right to reject applications we do not deem fit for our community.

. ➶ ˚ rule three

Both the writer and faceclaim must be 19+ in international age to be permitted into the roleplay. Your chosen faceclaim must be of Asian descent. They can not be ulzzangs, instagram models, and internet famous figures that are not in the acting or performing industry. Models represented by agencies are permitted.

Faceclaims can not be deceased, married, have criminal allegations made against them, and must not have publicly informed their wish to not be roleplayed.

. ➶ ˚ rule four

Characters can be aged up and down a maximum of eight (8) years from the faceclaim’s international age. The youngest age a character can be is 18.

. ➶ ˚ rule five

Because the roleplay takes place in an original universe, the concept of race does not exist in the world of the roleplay the same way that it does in the real world. Despite that, we ask that you remain respectful of your faceclaim’s race. For example, if your faceclaim is Korean, any characters playing their biological siblings should also be Korean.

. ➶ ˚ rule six

All orientations are permitted.

. ➶ ˚ rule seven

We operate in GMT -5 both IC and OOC. Although the roleplay takes place in an original universe, please try your best to keep this timezone in mind for your muse.

. ➶ ˚ rule eight

Body modifications are allowed but must be stated in the muse’s bio. This rule does not apply to primary ual characteristics present at birth.

. ➶ ˚ rule nine

The following will result in removal from the roleplay and get you permanently blacklisted: mixing IC & OOC, failing to apply appropriate trigger warnings to your posts, god modding, bullying others OOC, meta gaming, face/user/ship chasing, soft/hard blocking others without admin’s permission, bubble rping, plagiarism (applies to all creations from writing, ideas, graphics, etc), and member poaching.

If you experience any of these issues, we ask that you report to us directly. We will not take action if someone else speaks for you. You are welcome to raise concerns to us but we will not resolve the issue(s) with you if you are not directly involved in the situation. This is to protect the private information of the writers involved and to avoid misinformation and miscommunication.

For the safety of the community, it will be up to the admin’s discretion to remove members at any given time if you are caught engaging in the issues listed.

. ➶ ˚ rule ten

The OOC group and chat will have rules if you wish to be a participant. They will be disclosed in the featured post that you will be able to view once you’ve been added to the roleplay. You must follow all guidelines listed on the post at all times.

. ➶ ˚ rule eleven

Hiatus is given for three weeks maximum, with no exception for extensions. Please plan your hiatuses carefully as we will not accept multiple requests asked within the same period. If you’d like to request one, DM Lord Astor account on Mewe with the beginning and end date. You will be given further instructions if/once it’s been approved.

Hiatus will not be given to anyone within their first month of joining the roleplay. Additionally, you will not be allowed back into the roleplay if you request a hiatus, only to end up character-hogging. This means if you are unsure about a muse, we’d rather you leave that account and try creating a new muse rather than asking for a hiatus only to leave the roleplay once your hiatus concludes. That is not fair to other muns who may be wanting to write your faceclaim.

Furthermore, we will be hesitant to let you back into the roleplay if you are found to be going in and out of the roleplay. We aim to promote long-term writing and consistent character development. If you do not believe you can commit yourself to our roleplay, our establishment may not be suitable for you. To discourage this behavior, you must wait three weeks if you either leave the roleplay on your own accord or get removed for inactivity.

. ➶ ˚ rule twelve

Move-in couples are not allowed. Dating ban lasts for two months. Marriage, pregnancy, and children are allowed.

. ➶ ˚ rule thirteen

Three accounts are permitted per writer but the muses can not be from the same nation and the faceclaims can not be from the same entertainment group. To qualify for a second, you must have 3,000 points. To qualify for a third, you must have a total of 6,000 points between your two accounts. If you meet the requirements and would like to request a new account, you must acquire permission from the Lord Astor account on Mewe first. Only once your request is approved by Lord Astor, you may submit an application.

Suspicion of imbalance in activity throughout your accounts will result in the removal of the account you are found inactive in. It will be your job to maintain balanced activity. To avoid wrongful suspicion, we advise you to request a hiatus on one of your accounts if you are experiencing writer’s block for that particular muse. Otherwise, we will assume you’ve failed to balance both and revoke your second/third.

. ➶ ˚ rule fourteen

Character change is unlimited. To prevent abuse of this right, there must be a gap of three weeks between each character change.

. ➶ ˚ rule fifteen

You’re responsible for informing the admin if you wish to leave the roleplay. We may not view your message in our Mewe inbox immediately so if you plan to delete your Mewe account right away, we advise you to inform us of your departure on Asianfanfics/Tumblr. Otherwise, we will assume you’ve failed to inform us properly and blacklist you.

. ➶ ˚ Activity expectations

. ➶ ˚ activity rule one

Upon your acceptance, you will be given 48 hours to post your introduction. We expect the introduction to be at least two (2) full paragraphs, written in 3rd POV. Extensions will not be given if you ask at the last minute. We advise you to come prepared while you await acceptance.

. ➶ ˚ activity rule two

You have two weeks to complete your muse’s bio following your acceptance. To meet the deadline, you must post the link in the “Musing” group. It will not count if you do not post your bio in that group. Even if you post it on your own profile, we will not deem this step complete unless you post it in the provided group. Reminders to post will not be given. We encourage you to complete this step as soon as possible so you’re able to begin plotting with other writers. If you are discovered to have missed this requirement, we will check if you have any active threads in the literacy groups, in which we will provide an appropriate extension according to our discretion.

If you are found with no bio and no active threads, you will be removed without warning. If you wish to be readmitted into the roleplay after that, we will require you to submit an application with a complete bio beforehand to prevent the same situation from repeating.

In order for your bio to be considered complete, it must have sufficient information about your muse. We will not consider it a complete bio if you copy and paste basic information from your application. For it to be sufficient, another writer should be able to read your bio and gain a good understanding of your muse in order to begin brainstorming plot ideas. You will be asked to redo your bio if we find it has been made with poor effort.

. ➶ ˚ activity rule three

Activity is measured through active threads, self-paras, and gossip submissions. Anything else will not count. At the beginning of the week, a post will be made in the “Activity Check” group and it will be your responsibility to report your activity on the weekly posts. You will not be given any warnings if you fail to comment by the closing date. If you are removed due to inactivity, you will not be readmitted for a month if you wish to join again.

. ➶ ˚ activity rule four

To demonstrate consistent activity, you will need to have at least two (2) public threads by the first month of your stay. You will be removed without warning if you are found with one or no public threads by the end of your first month. Extensions will not be given under any circumstances and the same one (1) month waiting period will apply if you are removed for this reason. After your first month, we will naturally expect to see you branch out to other writing partners. If you are found restricting yourself to only the bare minimum requirement of two partners/threads, we will approach you under the suspicion of bubble rping.

. ➶ ˚ application process

. ➶ ˚ step one

In order to be considered an applicant, your Asianfanfic account must be at least 6 months old. If you are applying from Tumblr, your account must have moderate activity throughout the months to be considered an active account. Please ensure the admin can access your account’s information before submitting an application. It will not be our responsibility to inform you if we can not contact you.

If you fail to meet one or both activity requirements, we may consider your admission if you are able to provide us with a Google Document that has five (5) writing examples. Please be sure to submit your URL to our DMs if your account fails to meet our activity requirements. Otherwise, we will dismiss your application.

. ➶ ˚ step two

We don’t allow reservations. Apply once you’re ready and DM us in the format “Park Chaeyoung has applied.” once you’ve submitted your application. Failure to do so will result in the dismissal of your application. We will not contact you for any step you miss.

. ➶ ˚ step three

Create your Mewe account and begin writing your introduction post while you await acceptance. When creating your Mewe account, be sure to add “Cor de Rosa” in the city section of your profile. Only names in English with no special characters/fonts are permitted. Do not add anyone else other than the admin accounts before you are accepted. Your account must be clean of old posts if you are recycling an existing account. We are a closed roleplay; you may not add anyone else outside of our community. You will be given 48 hours to complete all instructions provided in your acceptance message. We accept applications on Mondays and Thursdays.

. ➶ ˚ step four

Your account settings must allow anyone to view your friend list and your feed preferences must be set to newest post in order to ensure everyone’s given equal exposure.

*ੈ✩‧₊˚ gossip paper feature

A major feature of the roleplay is the gossip blog that is published biweekly by an anonymous writer. For regular citizens of Cor de Rosa and the rest of the nation, the blog is a means of entertainment but for the students that attend Arcadia University, it is another tool they can use to accomplish their personal goals. Students are forbidden from using their powers to fight with each other outside of class, but that doesn’t make the halls of the school any less of a battlefield.

At Arcadia University, everyone talks about everyone. Everyone has a reputation that precedes them. There are some students that try to be above the drama. However, when you’re beautiful, rich, and powerful, it’s difficult to keep one’s name out of people's mouths.

Coming up soon after our opening. Stay tuned and join us before it starts!

While there are reputable universities in each nation that specialize in teaching its respective elements, Arcadia University is seen as the only option for many high-born individuals and is the ultimate dream for regular citizens.

For many upper-class individuals, attending Arcadia University is a tradition. As the school was established three hundred years ago, many royals and nobles have had ten generations attend the school before them. Even students from new rich families have witnessed three generations. Many wealthy families see it as important to attend Arcadia University, not only as a place to get a world-class education but as a place to form lifelong connections with future world leaders and individuals that will become innovators in their respective fields. The relationships that formed in the hallowed halls of this school have the ability to change the very trajectory of the world.

And with the school finally accepting regular citizens in recent years, it may very well change as the new students bring in a fresh set of opinions and experiences. Moreover, perhaps with the right resources and guidance, these new students might just end up being competition.

There are four types of students that are granted admission into Arcadia University.

royals

royals

There are four nations and each has its own sovereign. Each sovereign rules their own nation and serves on a council with the other rulers to make decisions for the multicultural city-state of Cor de Rosa. Royals are children of the sovereigns. Naturally, these royals are next to inherit the throne for their various realms unless someone chooses to challenge them (Please refer to question 4 under IC questions on FAQ page for more information). All royals are accepted into the school on the basis of their royal status.

There is a limit of four royals in the roleplay, one for each nation. If you would like to have siblings in the roleplay, please message the admin account.

nobles

nobles

Nobles are members of high society that have been granted noble titles by the sovereign of their respective states. They are long-established, respectable families that may even share relations with the royal family. While some noble families are very wealthy, that is not the case for all of them. Some ancient families only have their names left after various events that have left their dynasties penniless. All nobles are accepted into Arcadia University because of their noble status.

new
rich

new
rich

The new rich are members of high society that have earned their position through their wealth. They are individuals from families that recently became rich in the last few generations. Whether they have gained their wealth through respectable means or not, their affluence has made them difficult to ignore. The new rich families pay large sums of money to have their children accepted into Arcadia University. If these families gain the favor of the right people, they can be granted noble titles.

citizens

citizens

Originally, the university was only open to members of the upper class but with the lower classes demanding more equality in recent years, the school has opened its doors with some stipulations. Because regular citizens don’t have adequate funds to pay for the university’s tuition, many are only allowed to take classes part-time while the rest of their time is spent serving their elite classmates. The university disguises this system as kindness, but it’s really just a means of acquiring cheap help. It takes poor students twice as long to complete their studies. Many struggle to finish. However, those that stick it out have the opportunity to improve their magical abilities, receive a world-class education, and become as powerful as their high-born classmates.

sports

. ➶ ˚ note: If you plan to acquire the captain position for your muse, you must check on the masterlist if it is available and make sure to disclose it in your application before you join the roleplay. A muse may hold captain position for only one sport.

If you would like a sport that is not on this list, you must inform the admin first before allowing your muse to partake in it.

. ➶ ˚ Nation-specific sports: These sports are specific to their nation and only allow members from their respective nation to join the team.

  • Tag – Tag is a native fire nation sport that is known to take place in the nation’s particularly harsh environments. Fire nation players are permitted and encouraged to use electricity and fire manipulation against their opponents in an attempt to mark them as it. this is a timed game, so particularly skilled players may use precognition as a way to get ahead in the game.

  • Dodgeball – This sport is native to the air nation and takes place in open-air arenas. Two opposing teams attempt to knock out each other’s members with a ball by manipulating the air around them. The use of illusion manipulation is also particularly crucial here as a tactic to fool each other’s teammates.

  • Relay Swimming – Relay swimming is considered one of the most difficult sports out of all of the nations. Native to the water nation, this sport involves teams of four swimming through complex underwater courses in an attempt to beat the competing team. This sport requires complete mastery of aquatic respiration and water manipulation, and is known to be challenging for even the best swimmers in the water nation.

  • Tug-of-war – This sport is native to the earth nation due to the earth manipulation that must take place in the attempt. Two opposing teams combat each other to make use of the earth beneath them in an attempt to pull the other team into a ditch. On the surface, it is an apparently simple game, but it requires incredible team coordination and technique.

. ➶ ˚ Regular sports: These sports are not nation-specific and anyone can join.

  • Dueling – This sport is one of the most equal across all of the offerings. Students are matched up according to their level and ability to spar with each other in a safe arena under the eyes of fellow students and educator spectators. There are three rounds, and students can win by either knocking their opponent out of the ring or having the most points based on their technique and accuracy by the end. Deadly attempts are not permitted. Students must be at least level 10 to participate. However, there is a yearly tournament held that is open to all students regardless of level, though it is unheard of for students with lower levels to make it past the preliminary rounds.

  • Football – Football is another popular, cross-nation sport. the rules are relatively simple: don’t use your hands. All other manipulation is allowed, as long as it doesn’t cross into outright violence. The school has several non-gendered football teams that require tryouts, but the premier varsity teams are the most coveted and the hardest to get on.

powers & progression

powers & progression

At Arcadia University, there are no grades or years. Instead, students attend the university until they acquire and master all of their powers. While improving their powers, many students will work on their major. Improving one's powers usually takes more time than it does to complete most academic coursework. Because of this, if an individual completes their chosen major before they acquire all their powers, they may choose a second major/minor, continue with the first major with graduate-level courses, or simply choose to focus on courses that will help them develop their powers.

Levels one, five, ten, fifteen, and twenty indicate when a student acquires a new power. The levels in between those levels (one to four, five to nine, etc) indicate the student's proficiency with the skill that they have last acquired. The maximum level characters can reach is twenty-five.

All characters are born with their level one abilities. Parents are usually told what element their child has at birth. If there is any confusion about a child’s element, a simple blood test will reveal the baby’s element. At birth, the level one abilities are very weak. They slowly develop as a child grows up. A child’s level one powers are usually fully developed by age seven, though some children may take longer. For example, air elementals usually take longer as they must learn to walk and run before they can fly. Between ages seven and eleven, children begin to acquire their level five abilities. A child’s magical education begins at the age twelve. If a citizen adolescent is diligent in practicing their element, they will have mastered their level five abilities by the time they complete high school. On the other hand, high born children progress faster because of their access to expensive tutors and their ancient, powerful bloodlines. To acquire level ten and higher, one must pursue additional education through private lessons or attend university.

When initially joining the roleplay, there are maximum limits on the level each mun can choose based on their character type. If the character is a regular citizen, the maximum level they can have when joining the roleplay is level nine. If the character is considered new rich, the maximum level they can have is level fifteen. If the character is a royal or noble, the maximum level they can be is level twenty.

As mentioned before, high born individuals have the opportunity to begin at higher levels because they have access to expensive tutors and other resources that will help them unlock their abilities sooner than regular citizens. Noble and royal individuals also have the added advantage in that they have kept their bloodlines pure for many generations by only marrying other powerful nobles, resulting in powerful children.

Please keep in mind that it takes time to perfect each ability. Therefore if a character has a higher level, they should be an older or more experienced student.

Muns will be able to progress through the levels with points gained through completing threads, writing self-paras, and events.

earth

. ➶ ˚ level one: Self-Healing

  • The ability to heal oneself.

  • While individuals can fly great distances based on how much stamina they have, they can’t fly to great heights as there may not be enough oxygen or it may be too cold.

. ➶ ˚ level five: Air Manipulation

  • The ability to manipulate air.
  • This power is ineffective in deoxygenated zones and places with no natural airflow.

. ➶ ˚ level ten: Deoxygenation

  • The ability to remove oxygen within a given area, causing others to suffocate.
  • Because the deoxygenated area is invisible, users need to be careful that they or their allies don’t accidentally walk into the vacuum.

  • This ability is ineffective on apathetic individuals.

. ➶ ˚ level fifteen: Plant Manipulation

  • The ability to manipulate plants, using the water inside them.
  • They can dictate the movement of existing plants. For example, they can grasp at others with vines and roots. They can make plants release toxins and pheromones.

. ➶ ˚ level twenty: Memory Manipulation

  • The ability to manipulate memories.
  • Individuals have the ability to implant memories, whether they be true or false, into the minds of others. Implanting true memories can cause nostalgia while false memories may result in initial confusion. Traumatic memories may cause distress.
  • Individuals with this ability don’t have the ability to read minds, but if they have prior knowledge of existing memories they can erase them from other’s minds, causing amnesia.

fire

. ➶ ˚ level one: Thermal Resistance

  • The ability to survive in extreme temperatures, both hot and cold, without discomfort.
  • While individuals will not burn or get frostbite when they have this power, they are not resistant to other effects of temperature. For example, they can still slip on icy ground and suffer from smoke inhalation.

. ➶ ˚ level five: Fire Manipulation

  • The ability to generate, shape, and manipulate fire.
  • For this power to work, there has to be oxygen in the air and it has to be warm enough to generate a fire.

. ➶ ˚ level ten: Electric Manipulation

  • The ability to generate, shape, and manipulate electricity.
  • If the user has an understanding of electrical currents and how it functions within a piece of technology, this ability can be used to disrupt technology.
  • This power should not be used when the user is wet as it may be lethal.
  • This ability can also be disrupted by a powerful magnet, with the electrical current being drawn to the magnet as opposed to the intended target.

. ➶ ˚ level fifteen: Precognition

  • The ability to see the future.
  • Visions are not always accurate because the future may change as individuals make different choices.

. ➶ ˚ level twenty: Passion Manipulation

  • The ability to control passionate emotions (love & lust).
  • If the user perfects this ability, they will have the ability to make others loyal to them or others.
  • For this ability to work, the subject must already experience an inkling of love or lust. If they are apathetic or full of hatred, this power will not work.

Arcadia University: locations
Arcadia University: locations

Arcadia University was first established to train young royals and nobles to rule their newly unified world and defend their nations from their supernatural enemies. However, as the four nations comfortably maintained control for generations and fear for their enemies faded, the university expanded its coursework and extracurricular activities. As a result, not only has Arcadia University continued to educate all the country’s future sovereigns, but its notable alumni include renowned figures in mathematics, science, business, technology, arts, literature, and sports.

For many years, the school only admitted royalty and nobility. They only began accepting students from wealthy, non-titled families around a hundred years ago and, very recently, they have opened their gates to citizens.

Arcadia University is said to have the most beautiful campus in the world. A school for elite individuals, it’s clear that no expense was spared in designing the school. The university campus is spread across the historical center of Cor de Rosa. Winding stone paths connect the countless ornate buildings, which are crafted out of marble and crystal. The administration ensures that the most valued students have little to complain about with no shortage of resources or state-of-the-art facilities.

. ➶ ˚ Winthrop Court: Winthrop Court houses the royal, noble, and new rich students of Arcadia University. The residential hall is ideally located near the center of campus, providing easy access to all sides of the campus. Winthrop Court is fully equipped with amenities such as a gym, study rooms, a theater, and a pool. It consists of both single and double, suite-style rooms that include a sitting area, balcony, and bathrooms for each room. The hall is covered in windows that bathe the entire building in natural lighting. There are hall-specific activities commonly held here that are restricted exclusively to the residents, although they may bring a plus one from the other residential hall – however that is typically frowned upon. Winthrop Court also has a higher-end dining hall that is open to all students, though commoner students aren’t typically seen in the dining hall for unrelated reasons.

. ➶ ˚ Snell Hall: Snell Hall exclusively houses commoner students, though if other students – for whatever reason – desired to live there, they could. Snell Hall is located at the northern end of campus, closest to Lotus library where many of them work, but even that is roughly a 10-minute walk. Snell Hall is a more traditional residential hall, with double, triple, and even quadruple room arrangements. Upper-level students are prioritized for the double rooms that have a single bathroom inside, lower-level students are restricted to the remaining rooms and must use communal bathrooms. Snell hall is infamous for its living issues, including faulty ac and heat, oftentimes cold shower water, and dingy rooms. Snell hall is equipped with a very old study room that is only updated with old materials from Winthrop Court.

. ➶ ˚ Kendall Dining Hall: Kendall Dining Hall is the largest dining hall on campus, offering two stories and a wide variety of food. It is located on the east side of the campus, not all that far from Winthrop Court although Winthrop residents typically prefer to eat at their residential dining hall. Students are offered a number of buffet-style food options that shift out on a weekly basis. It is a popular place to not only meet with friends but also spend time between classes. Despite its relatively far trek from Snell Hall, it is the most popular choice for citizen students due to its freshness and dependability. It is a common location for citizen students to work part-time as well.

. ➶ ˚ Lotus Library: Lotus Library is the only library on campus, though its size renders other library options unnecessary. The library is made up of eight floors. Its towering structure nearly overshadows every other building on campus save for the student center. The library is fully equipped with both traditional and high-tech study rooms for all modes of education. Students may come here to read their textbooks or practice their skills in one of the soundproof, safe rooms. The library features a wide variety of materials, from old texts that outline the nation’s history, microfilms, and even original art pieces. It is located at the north end of campus and is a popular choice of employment for citizen students due to its proximity. The library is open 24/7.

. ➶ ˚ Mimi Café: Mimi Café is not an official campus building, though it is so close that students often see it as one. The quaint café is the spot of choice for many students to spend their free time. The café is open until 1 am and is a popular place for students to grab a late-night coffee for a study session. It offers a variety of professionally baked sweet treats, coffees, and teas. The café is located at the southern end of campus. Typically citizen students do not work there for extra money because their schedules are already tight enough, but particularly financially unstable students may choose to pick up a couple of shifts a week.

. ➶ ˚ Cicely Hall: Cicely Hall is the campus student union and takes the prize as the largest building on campus. Cicely Hall is located at the center of the campus, directly beside Winthrop Court. The student union is home to numerous additional dining options for pay, study spots, outside training areas, and the campus bookstore. It is the meeting area for most of the school’s extracurricular activities and clubs due to the spaces that can be reserved on a weekly basis.

. ➶ ˚ Rosemary Plaza: Rosemary Plaza is the campus quad, an outdoor space where students can gather when the weather is favorable. Students often gather to study, hang out, and host events on the plaza. This is also a popular battleground for students to test their powers out – sometimes on each other even though school rules officially don’t allow for that outside of class. Listen closely enough to passing conversations and you may overhear the rumors of a late-night tournament set to take place.

. ➶ ˚ Aurora Botanical Gardens: The Aurora Botanical Gardens sit on the west side of campus, not far from the observatory. The large gardens are full of flowers, bushes, and trees. Due to its distance from the rest of campus, it isn’t a very popular area, but for students seeking solitude and serenity, the gardens are a good choice. The gardens are cared for by school staff, although citizen students have the opportunity to work here if they would like. Located on the garden grounds is the Flora greenhouse, which features a wide range of climate-specific landscapes that are meant to represent each nation. For new students feeling particularly homesick, this may be a good place to visit for a taste of home.

. ➶ ˚ Dereen Observatory: Dereen Observatory is located on the west side of campus and holds a large astronomical telescope that is open to students to observe terrestrial, marine, or celestial events. The observatory is one of the more underused parts of campus, with most students either not knowing how to utilize the telescope or simply finding it uninteresting. However, the observatory is a quiet, calm, and dark space, and offers a good escape for students willing to make the trek.

Cor de Rosa: capital city locations
Cor de Rosa: capital city locations

Cor de Rosa is an island nation located north of Nanami and south of Sirius.

The city-state was founded by the coalition of nations to be a place where multicultural families could reside together, but it eventually became a place for all individuals wishing to live in a more diverse society – a place to experience the best of every nation: food, fashion, beauty, technology, entertainment, and more. Cor de Rosa is governed by the United Council.

Cor de Rosa has elements of all nations. Much like the earth nation, the buildings that are considered the most important, such as the university and United Council, dominate the center of the city. There, the buildings mimic those seen in Sora and Nanami, featuring decorative stone facades, double doors, large windows, light colors, and iridescent accents. Sakura-lined cobblestones roads connect the city. The historical center is split from the rest of the city by a river, which serves as a natural barrier between where the upper class and the regular citizens live.

Crossing the river by train, car, or ferry will allow one to cross into the modern areas of the city. The wealthy still dominate the area closest to the water, living and working in high-rise buildings that overlook the historical center. At sunset and sunrise, the dreamy hues of the sky reflect off the glass towers, casting soft colors over the city below. Though beautiful, the rose tint doesn’t make life in the rougher parts of the city any easier.

. ➶ ˚ Orchid Oasis Spa: Orchid Oasis Spa is a high-end residential spa and resort. The spa features saunas, cool and hot pools, yoga, spin classes, and meditation rooms, but has no shortage of other relaxing services and options. On the oversized rooftop, there are vegetable, herb, and flower gardens that clients are encouraged to visit for quiet time to clear their minds. The spa is a popular choice for the royals, nobles, and new rich, as well as students who occasionally venture from campus on the weekends for a local, relaxing getaway.

. ➶ ˚ Adonis: Adonis is a partially subterranean nightclub located on the edge of the city in what most consider to be a more shady part. Despite its location, Adonis has no shortage of visitors every night. The large space features high ceilings adorned with disco balls and strobe lights, made even more exciting by strong drinks and loud, bass-heavy music. On paper, Adonis follows a very strict drinking age minimum, however, it is the club of choice for many students due to the fact that all it takes is a small bribe to the bouncer or a fake ID to get in.

. ➶ ˚ Pinnacle Gallery of Art & History: The Pinnacle Gallery of Art & History is a premier art and history museum located in the city’s capital. It features thousands of years of art and history pieces from every nation. The gallery has previously received skepticism for holding onto pieces that critics say should be in their home nations, but they have continued to present these items in the capital in the name of education. Nevertheless, the gallery is one of the most popular places to visit for tourists. The gallery offers a discount to students.

. ➶ ˚ Eternizone: Eternizone is a large recreation and amusement complex located in the capital. It is made up of two hotels, an indoor amusement park, three outdoor theme parks, and a waterpark. Eternizone is known for its exciting rides, roller coasters, adventures, comfort food, and seasonal exhibits. It is a popular location for students to go for outings with friends and on dates.

. ➶ ˚ Phoenix Park: Phoenix Park is by far the largest public park in the capital, consisting of several hundred acres. It is a popular place for leisurely walks, working out, meeting up, and simply sitting outside to enjoy the slice of peace even within the large city. It has a number of fountains, pet parks, a zoo, and even a pavilion where public concerts and events are often held there when the weather is nice. However, when the sun goes down, Phoenix Park can also be home to suspicious characters and criminal activities.

. ➶ ˚ Novis Plaza: Novis Plaza is a stretch of land in the capital that makes up the city’s premier commercial district. The area is home to a number of both high and lower-end stores that offer a wide range of fashion, jewelry, technology, and more. It is known as the go-to spot for shopping, recreation, and entertainment. Many of the wealthier students may spend their weekends here, engaging in retail therapy.

secret society: pentagon

secret society: pentagon

backstory

. ➶ ˚ note: This is the lore of the secret society. even if you are not interested in creating a muse that is a part of this society, it would be beneficial to know its purpose as this feature may be utilized in future roleplay events.

Over three hundred years, the four nations conquered the world and established the city-state of Cor de Rosa, where individuals from various nations could reside together. At the time, the nations agreed to cooperate with each other for the mutual prosperity of their nations. While many believe that the united effort has benefitted them, there have also been dissenters from the very beginning. Initially, there was a large collection of individuals that warned against unification because it would stall progress. They believed that continued conflict between the nations would create an air of competition and mold every nation to be its very best.

The founder established the Pentagon Society for individuals that shared his opinion. For a time, they were a vocal minority with many members throughout the nobility and supporters among the regular citizens. While others may not have agreed, they respected the opinions of the organization. However, all that changed roughly 150 years ago, when the organization attempted to stage a coup to create the world in its ideology.

Unsuccessful in their attempt, the founder and many of the high-ranking members of the Pentagon Society were imprisoned or killed. Public opinion changed and records of the organization were locked away in royal archives so no one could come across the dangerous ideology. However, the ideas continued to live on with supporters who once again established the organization, only in secret. At first, organizations only accepted individuals that shared their ideals, but as the unified nations prospered together over time membership dwindled. As a result, the organization began recruiting individuals that opposed the government for other reasons to bolster their numbers.

reasons to join

. ➶ ˚ note: Individuals join the organization for various reasons that include the following but are not limited to the following list.

  • Original Ideology: The current system prevents nations from being their best and believes that conflict in the nations would force them to reach their full potential.

  • Nationalism: They believe their nation is best and is being hindered by the current system. They want to disrupt the current government so their nation has a chance to show its true strength.

  • Classism: With the school opening its doors to regular citizens and the increasing number of interclass relationships in society, these individuals worry about soiling powerful bloodlines and supporting class separation.

  • Protecting Other Supernaturals: Some join because they don’t agree with the government’s treatment and exile of other supernatural creatures. They believe that relationships with these species would result in powerful, hybrid lineages.

available positions

. ➶ ˚ note: We may allow more positions as the roleplay grows but as of now, the secret society is capped at six (6) members and they must all hold different positions.

  • President: Because everyone in the organization may have different motives for joining, the president is responsible for maintaining peace and unity within the organization. They are responsible for supervising all meetings. As a senior and knowledgeable member of the organization, they are a point of contact for all other members if they need advice while making certain decisions.

  • Vice president: Because of the taboo nature of the Pentagon Society, there are situations where members may need to lie low to evade suspicion. When other members are unable to freely complete their duties for any reason, the vice president assumes their role until the member is able to return or the organization is able to find a replacement. The vice president is responsible for being informed about everything occurring in the organization so they can easily take over any role. The vice president also serves as an advisor to the president.

  • Treasurer: The treasurer is responsible for acquiring funds for the organization. While many of the members are wealthy, it’s not wise to have one’s funds directly connected to the Pentagon Society. Therefore, the treasurer is responsible for setting up untraceable revenue streams.

  • Informant: While many may not approve of the Pentagon Society, that doesn’t mean they won’t do what is asked of them, especially when the organization knows their secrets. The informant is responsible for keeping their eyes and ears open for valuable information that the organization can use to its advantage. The informant works closely with the treasurer, who may utilize the information to find some benefactors.

  • Recruiter: People aren’t always forthcoming with their critique of the government and it’s the recruiter's job to coax out dissenters. Much like the informant, the recruiter’s job is to remain observant of individuals that may be valuable allies. Individuals can only join the organization if they gain the trust of the recruiter and are extended an invitation. The recruiter serves as the organization’s social chair, planning events for members.

  • Public Relations: In the Pentagon Society, everyone is sworn to secrecy, but mistakes happen and occasionally the wrong people happen to uncover the organization. The public relations chair is responsible for ensuring these individuals and ex-members keep quiet by whatever means necessary.

important note: If you are interested, you must follow all these guidelines at all times.

. ➶ ˚ The Pentagon Society is a secret organization. The members are sworn to secrecy and breaking the oath can lead to serious repercussions. The organization is looked down upon by much of society. If one is discovered to be associated with the group, they are often viewed as a traitor and a criminal. Being discovered as a member can severely damage one’s reputation, lead to social ostracization, and legal action.

. ➶ ˚ Not all individuals with questionable motives are part of the secret society. As stated, members have to be invited. If characters are discreet, the existing members might not uncover their true intentions while other characters may not choose to join because they don’t want to be bound to an organization. Everyone has their own reasons.

. ➶ ˚ The organization is an important plot element for the roleplay and may be utilized in some events to cause conflict. While we will communicate our plans for the organization with the muns who are writing the members so they can help the admin team create a more immersive experience when needed, the admin team reserves the right to make the final decisions about the organization.

. ➶ ˚ While there are NPCs in the secret society, we currently only allow six (6) characters to be part of the society. Because positions are limited, one must have a completed bio before applying for a position in the secret society. If you are interested, you will need to wait for approval from the admin for your application to process. We may ask you to make necessary changes if we see elements that do not align with the secret society’s lore in your bio. In addition, we reserve these slots to muns that are certain they can dedicate sufficient time and effort into properly executing their storylines. We may ask you about your availability and commitment during the approval process.

. ➶ ˚ Because of the government’s efforts, information about the founder has been buried to prevent newer generations from discovering their ideas and becoming inspired. However, that doesn’t stop individuals from spreading their own theories about who they may have been.

. ➶ ˚ Headquarters: The Pentagon Society’s meeting spot is located in Winthrop Court’s base. Look at the old, antique mirror hanging in the corner that rarely draws attention. Press upon the right-hand side of the panel and reveal the surprisingly large, well-lit meeting space within. The meeting room has a circular design, with one large round table sitting at the center where the society holds meetings at. The President sits at the head of the table, and whilst the other leading members sit on either side of him accordingly. On the sides of the room are a few leather couches and side tables. At the back of the room is a door that leads to the President’s office, where he holds one-on-one meetings with other members as needed.

frequently asked questions

frequently asked questions

IC questions

. ➶ ˚ Question one: Can individuals of different elements be together?

Yes, most individuals of different elements are allowed to be together. If people of different elements have a child, there is an equal chance of the child acquiring either element. For example, if a fire elemental were to have a child with a water elemental, there is an equal chance of the child acquiring water or fire.

Most multicultural families reside in Cor de Rosa because it's the easiest option and has adequate resources, but they are not forbidden from residing in any of the other nations. The biggest struggles for parents raising a child outside of their respective nation are finding adequate education to improve their powers and their children feeling out of place. This is more of an issue for lower-income families as the wealthy can afford to hire private tutors or send their children to school in other nations.

Marriage between royals of two different nations is frowned upon. Two sovereigns can not be married to each other, meaning that if two royals wish to be married one of them has to give up their throne.

Marriage between royals and individuals of different elements can also lead to other issues, such as a phenomenon known as the leftover children.

To be considered the heir to a nation's throne, one must be gifted the nation's respective element. Children from multicultural families that inherit an elemental gift that is different from their royal parent can not be the heir. They are considered nobles and the throne is passed to their siblings. These children often struggle with their self-identity because they don't feel completely accepted by either nation. When deciding to do this dynamic, please be sure to speak and plot with the official royal muse before adding this to your storyline.

. ➶ ˚ Question two: Can individuals of different classes be together?

While relationships between different classes are not forbidden by law, they are frowned upon for various reasons. One major reason is only wealthy, noble, and royal families are able to afford the amount of education that it takes to attain higher power levels. Many upper-class individuals believe that marrying commoners can taint their bloodlines and lead to weaker lineages. Interclass children are looked down upon, bullied, and not seen as acceptable heirs. Regular people that do marry up are also not respected, viewed as gold diggers, social climbers, and outsiders; they are often treated poorly and must work twice as hard to understand the unspoken rules of high society if they hope to be accepted.

. ➶ ˚ Question three: What are society's views on LGBTQ+ community?

The majority of society is accepting of different ualities and genders. Most relationships are accepted as long as individuals are of similar classes. Individuals of the upper-class, regardless of gender and uality, are still expected to produce heirs and will often use surrogacy to fulfill their families’ wishes.

. ➶ ˚ Question four: What is the order of succession within the roleplay?

There are certain requirements each potential heir must meet. First, they must be gifted with their nation's element; for example, if they wish to be the future ruler of Sora, then they must be an air elemental. Second, they must have lived in the country they wish to rule for at least fifteen years to ensure they fully understand the county and its people. Third, they must have mastered all their abilities. The throne is usually passed down along bloodlines from parent to child. However, during the month of the official succession, anyone can challenge the official heir for the throne as long as they meet the three requirements listed above regardless of class. The challenge is split up into two portions: a test and a battle. The test covers topics of the nation's economy, history, geography, and culture. The battle to show the proficiency of one's abilities. The challenger must excel in both portions over the potential heir to take the throne. Usually, only nobility and the wealthy are powerful and educated enough to contest for the throne, however with Arcadia University opening its gates to regular citizens, perhaps one will try to ascend to the throne for the first time.

ooc quesitons

. ➶ ˚ Question one: Is it necessary to read everything?

We understand that there is quite a bit of information and that can be intimidating. When initially creating a character, we suggest beginning with the main page, student life, powers, and the page of the nation you would like your character to be from. Eventually, you should read everything else as it will help you understand the world and lore on a deeper level, along with giving you ideas for plots and connections. Members of the forum will be expected to know what is written on all the pages. If you ask the admin team something that has already been addressed, you will be directed to the appropriate page. This is a literate roleplay and being able to read is a basic requirement.

. ➶ ˚ Question two: Will other supernaturals, aside from elementals, be allowed into the roleplay?

As of now, while other supernaturals do exist in the world of the roleplay, they will not be playable characters and will only make appearances in certain events.

. ➶ ˚ Question three: Why are other supernatural species not allowed?

While all the characters in Paradigm are students of Arcadia University and will experience superficial problems all students do, the deeper themes of the roleplay revolve around issues of socioeconomic status, political struggles between the nations, the never-ending desire for power, and more within a supposedly perfect and peaceful society. Within the world of the roleplay, other supernatural species have been persecuted and forced to live in hiding for centuries, meaning they are not an active part of society. Because of this, other supernatural species would not be able to fully partake in the roleplay and would not be able to write deep connections and plots, which is what we strive for as a literate forum.

. ➶ ˚ Question four: Do multiple languages exist in the world?

No, while the other supernatural species may speak different languages, all the elementals speak the same language. The nations have closely worked together as they defeated the other species and built up their nations; this proximity has allowed them to repeatedly share their linguistic traditions with each other until they all developed into one central language. Eventually, all the nations adopted the central language as their official language to help prevent misunderstandings, support unification efforts, and promote world peace.
