@Hwang Bogum This time four years ago he went to work for the first time, enthusiastic and naive. Now every morning was spent doing the necessary preparation on autopilot while his brain prepared for every possible scenario it could, finding solutions to problems that didn't yet exist - just in case. It happened to be more a function of anxiety than anything else. Under the artificial glow of the elevator shaft's light, sallow and dull, Taekwoon leaned against the silver railing, a monotonous stare settled on the sliding doors whilst he waited for it stop on his floor.

Hands shifting into the pockets of his pressed olive trousers after eyeing the time on his watch '7:05 am', the voice of a dark haired male caught his attention, eyebrows slightly creasing at the familiar tone before he turned a head in his direction. Wondering where it is he'd seen him before until realization dawned on him and the name rang in his thoughts, 'Hwang Bogum', a distinct underclassmen he'd met toes with quite a few times; brother of his soon to be wife. 'Hwang Miyoung'.

Giving that the male seemed to have wanted to start a conversation, knowing it their bond was inevitable, he spoke in return " We've still yet to book the rehearsal and rehearsal dinner venues, aside from that my father recommended an excellent tailor flying in from Paris next week, I suppose you could stop by and look at a few samples yourself." He offered, once the elevator doors slid open, he stepped out of the lift moments later.

Now on his way to his office for a change of clothes and the quaint review of scheduled appointments.

@Jung Taekwoon Despite the fact that they had attended the same university, Dr. Hwang Bogum could count the number of times that they had met on one hand. So it wasn't very surprising that the air between the two soon-to-be brother-in-laws was awkward. The 30 second elevator ride felt like an eternity as Bogum felt a droplet of sweat run down his back.

"So," he coughed, "how're you doing? I mean, are the preparations going well? You know, the wedding...vest. Um, have you picked it out?" His inability to make small conversation was so obvious that it was painful. Honestly, Hwang Bogum wasn't that socially inept of a person, but Jung Taekwoon was the fiancee of his sister...who he hadn't really had a good relationship with for the past five years. Not to mention, the heir to the hospital that they both worked at (and if the rumors were correct, Dr. Jung would be his boss soon enough). It was inhumane for whatever God was out there to have placed them both in this situation.

Well, that deity must've been merciful, or have pitied him, because the elevator bell finally dinged as those blessed doors spread open. But as cruel fate would have it, they were headed the same way - and the awkwardness continued. Bogum gave another sorrowful hack.

[of course i won't]

Joongki was relieved when he finally arrived and luckily the leader of psychiatrist doctors did not arrived yet. He settled down his items on his desk and start to signaling the nurse to call his first patient of the day. “I hope things will be better after this”

Jackson Wang [A] 8 years ago
@Jang Yeeun Under no circumstance was a phone call from the hospital ever a good sign. Especially when it was late into the night, and it just casually happened to ruin all of the night's planned events. Jackson had been in the middle of driving downtown to meet up with some various acquaintances when the notice first came in. God damn, when he told that new trainee at the gym to go get busted up somewhere else (Jackson was never the nicest or most encouraging of mentor figures), he didn't expect for his whimsical desire to become reality. Funny how it was only at times like this when the universe decided to listen to his commands.

Turning his route towards the hospital now, he arrived at the premises in a reluctant, but timely manner. How he hated hospitals. Nothing but bad memories -- injuries, operations, accidents; a fair share of them his own, and then another good number related to others. He hated the artificially squeaky cleanliness and the gleaming white floors. He hated waking up in them unconscious, though he assured himself that those days of his were far in the past. Frankly, he should have been in the grave for all the ridiculous rendezvous and physical exertion that he'd faced in his lifetime. Curse those doctors; they never knew when to quit. He could count a number of occasions when he had preferred that they leave him to perish from the earth.

Like that fateful night of his first and last professional lost match. He remembered going down, crowd wailing, camera flashes blinding, senses impaired by white noise and whitening blindness -- well , he still woke up in cold sweat in the middle of the night from the mental trauma -- but didn't remember how the hell he ended up with pulse still running. He had opened his eyes to a room full of 'friends' and 'loved ones,' or rather those who were afraid he wouldn't be making any more money after the catastrophe. They all expressed their oh-so-genuine enthusiasm that his recovery would be relatively positive. But really, it was too late. His fighting spirit had long died, and nobody in the entire hospital could fix that.

He asked for directions to the patient's room at the front desk of the hospital wing and traversed through the endless hallway. The place already drained him of his energy. Knocking obnoxiously on the door, he abruptly swung open the door to enter without waiting for any sort of response from the inside. "Good going, kid," he blurted with a slight scoff. For every ounce of sympathy he had for the younger athlete, he had ten more gallons of disgust. The stupid kid probably took a drunken stumble off of a staircase or something similar. "Thought I told you the difference between being reckless and downright idiotic."

He could tell the younger trainee was attempting to make an excuse for himself, but nothing emerged from his mouth except a sequence of pitiful muffled sounds. Jackson would have shut him up for good too, if he wasn't interrupted by another figure entering the room. A young woman, maybe a nurse. She was in uniform, but there was way too many position titles in the medical field for him to ever keep up with. To his slight amusement, she proceeded to check up on the patient, hardly yielding Jackson any notice for a quite significant amount of time.

Realizing that she acknowledged finally acknowledged him, Jackson raised a slight eyebrow. He'd just gotten his first good look at her face, and it triggered some sort of familiarity. He swore to god he'd seen it somewhere before, but bless his soul -- he'd seen and forgotten so many faces in the recent few years that he couldn't even trust his own memory anymore. He mused over her comments though. That voice... definitely familiar. Also her enthusiasm... how in the world was she so positive in a place like this? Perhaps she had been here at the hospital when he had stayed? Well in that case, he would have been drugged and nowhere close to highly functioning. "None of the above," he replied casually, still eyeing her with some doubt.

@Jung Taekwoon bringing his car to a halt right outside the main entrance of the hospital, dongwoo hurriedly walked up to the receptionist, well aware that he is extremely late in delivering the documents. he doesn't like being late, neither is he ever late when he is assigned an important meeting; being late just puts him on the edge. he called for the receptionist, placing the document onto the counter before asking,"where's the blond doctor's office? i've got something to drop off for him-".

as if the receptionist already knew, he was given a phone number instead, and a quiet reply saying something along the lines that the doctor left a few moments ago. sighing at his own rotten luck, dongwoo thanked the receptionist before leaving, with the document in hand. he ran a free hand through his brown hair, messing it up a little in frustration. he wished that he would be done with that man as soon as possible, but things seems to be dragging on longer than he wanted it to.

seated in his vehicle, dongwoo sent a quick text to the other male, before driving back home- where he could finally change out of the coffee stained shirt he had on, and possibly have some time thinking about the case on his hands, without any distractions. he worked better at home, where he is comfortable and there isn't his chief yelping at everything he does.

[ this is the detective from earlier today. i have the documents; do i pass it to you tomorrow? ]

@Jang Dongwoo Disposing of the now useless outerwear after a shower in the hospitals resident staff area; Taekwoon was then approached by an nurse with clipboard at hand. Recounting three scheduled lumbar decompressive laminectomy procedures due for the remainder of the day.

Four beds, even patients, he greeted their loved ones with special care and informed them of what was to happen in the next few hours.

Already his mind drifted back to his uncluttered home, everything pale with clean lines, elegant and calming. Home, where he could draw the blinds and pour his favourite whiskey, listen to soft Jazz and browse the recordings he has't yet seen.

In the operation room his movements were unhurried, choreographed and deliberate. He courted the opinions of the nurses and listened to what they had to say.and not long after, Taekwoon found himself removing his surgical gloves before disposing of them in a trash bin. Sanitizing his hands to rid them of the latex scent before he excused himself and checked out of his shift.

Changing into casual wear he wasn’t a male model but he should have been. The lush, mother lode-gold hair he groomed so carefully had a rippling quality, a sign of his rude health.agains the low light in the changing room. Slinging a coat over his shoulder before he turned the lights off, Taekwoon remembered the male he'd met earlier and to his dismay he'd remembered the deal so he waited for the latter but an hour or two passed and he was nowhere to be seen so he'd taken off but not before leaving his number with the receptionist.

@Jung Taekwoon oh lord, those papers /are/ important. dongwoo sighs, his eyes closed, as he tries to figure a way out of this. as much as he feels sorry towards the victim of his actions, this man standing in front of him is quite a prick. dongwoo was about to retaliate, but he fell silent. the way his own words were mimicked by the other didn't feel that great at all.

".. 'task'? my ," he muttered to himself after the taller male was gone, rolling his eyes. he shot the receptionist a glare before snatching the drenched document off the counter, making his way over to the office to retrieve his reports.

The rest of the day was pretty bad for him, and those around him, considering that he snapped at some juniors who came to his team's office to take a look. not to mention, his mood affected his work, and he could barely concentrate on anything at all. By the time that he knocked off, it was pretty late into the night– and he had completely forgotten that he had to pass the document back to that doctor.

he didn't exactly restore the all pages back to normal, but he did try his best, despite having a heck of a day at work. still smelling a little like musky coffee, dongwoo makes his way over to the hospital, energy drained and his heart dreading to see that prick again.

@Jang Dongwoo Indeed he'd seen him before, retrieving said files. The hospitals effort to support the police department but yet again; His profession unphased the blond as he observed with the gaze of a stranger, that aloof judgement with no strings. Carefully spoken, without drama, his words had an air of finality to them and no matter how hard the male railed against them, nothing would change his mind. " I believe time is something I lack as well but the state of the file hinders my progress, work wise."

" My work ethic is precise and I will file this analysis by tonight with your help- i believe I don't have to go into detail." He mused in slight mockery through word play as he flicked the drying droplets of scalding coffee off his slowly reddening fingers, a dull pain rising with an unpleasant warmth to it.

His expression otherwise nonchalant. "The receptionist can guide you to my office once you're done with your task." Placing the moist document on the front desk, his hands disappeared into the pockets of his scrubs before he his heels with a dismissive glance.

@Jung Taekwoon staring down at the unnaturally white tiles that are stained with brown coffee stains, dongwoo could feel guilt and perhaps, embarrassment, crawling onto his cheeks. he isn't one that is easily flustered, but the whole situation calls for it. his face flushed even a deeper shade of red when he took a full view of the mess he had made. the taller male's white coat was stained with ugly blotch of brown, and the papers in the other's hands were drenched in the liquid.

dongwoo hoped that those papers were nothing important; he knows how it feels to have something important soaked in liquid other than plain water (even so, water is bad enough). considering how fierce the other looks, dongwoo surely wouldn't want to get on the bad side of the other, although he's pretty sure that he already did and that he's doomed.

"ugh.." he grunts at the way the other looked at him, completely ignoring the tissue he offered. that's fine, he could use some for himself anyway. dongwoo proceeds to mindlessly wipe the dripping coffee off himself, while he answered the other's question,"i'm a detective from seoul's police department; here to retrieve a few reports regarding a case– i believe i don't have to go into details." he stuffed the remaining tissue back into the pocket of his jeans, taking a step away from the man.

"look, you can probably tell by now, but i'm really short on time. i'm sorry about all these–," he gestured lifelessly to the mess before continuing,"but i've got to run. i'm going my way, and you can go yours," he shrugged, straightening the shirt he had on. luckily for him, his shirt is navy coloured, and the stain didn't look too bad, he's still presentable. on the other hand, the taller male probably needs to change a coat and wash up a little, but otherwise, not that bad.

@Jang Dongwoo Insomnia haunted his nights; fatigue ruled his days. When he needed to be lucid and clear his brain begged for unconsciousness, for sleep at any price. But came the hours of darkness in the comfort of his bed, his mind would light up with new possibilities, new sources of disaster and danger.

Skimming past the diagnosis he'd prepared the previous morning for a patient; Taekwoon heaved a sigh, resigned and weary. It signalled the end of deliberate effort and the beginning of passive deterioration. It was a sigh so quiet that it went unnoticed, it's sound and it's movement dissapated out into the vastness of the world and made no effect at all. 'At least the deceased are put to rest.' Taekwoon thought to himself given the fact that he had to console yet again another widowed to be wife due to her husband's reckless actions.

Headed to the receptionist a floor below for a favor, he wanted a copy to file said document in his office for future referrence but the latter was short lived, the freshly ironed white linen he wore over his scrubs was now stained by a steaming murky substance and an imprint in the shape of printed paper kept the rest of his clothing from suffering the same fate. The frigid drink now dripped from his fingers after colliding into a shorter male.

Eyes the color of rich soil flecked with black flashed with indignance and anger, much like lightning on a pitch black night.

After such an apology, without casting a look at the offered tissue, he spoke."I don't suppose you work here, nor are you a patient so may I ask why you're in such a hurry?"

@Jung Taekwoon dongwoo leaned against the vending machine as it whirred to life, brewing an instant cup of coffee for him. dealing with new cases had always landed him sleepless at night; his mind too busy making connections and thinking about the culprit. not to mention, he's as impatient as anyone can get, and insists on going to the hospital to retrieve the reports on some evidences that he had sent to go through tests.

as soon as he received news on the reports coming out, dongwoo rushed his over to the hospital - only to find that there's a slight mistake in one of them and he had to wait just a little longer before he could take them. holding onto the small cup of drink, he hurriedly makes his way down to the office where he could watch and possibly /pressurize/ them to work faster.

not exactly watching the way he is walking, dongwoo's eyes were focused on his mobile phone, where new texts from his chief are streaming in. sighing as he read the content - which mainly consists of cuss words and more evidences that lead to dead ends. he typed a quickl reply, and was about to raise his drink to take a sip when he walked right into another being, spilling his coffee all over the place.

"... i," he looked up at the other, freezing in place. the taller adult seemed intimidating - way more intimidating that dongwoo thought that he himself was (he's pretty much the most intimidating in his team). "i'm sorry," he sighed, pulling out a pack of tissue from his pocket,"here, take it."
