@▹ jung yein。 Stones and broken glass crushed against his feet while he wandered around the area of the building. It looked worn out based on the appearance it gave due to the situation that was given to them. Every inch of South Korea was either worn down and filthy. Hardly anything could be scavenged about unless you're lucky enough to find something under the piles of debris and shelves underneath. Jun was considered to be one of those lucky people to ever search for food for himself during these dreadful days of starvation against many people who had the same goal as he did. Now he was not just feeding himself but also a little grey cat.

"Where are you Puff?"

He questioned his intentions of visiting the library. Why would a cat wander into the library anyway? It's not like there was food present inside the interior of a structure built for books and novels to keep readers daydreaming for days to come on end. Maybe the little thing just wanted to stretch its paws and walk around the neighborhood besides his residence that kept it safe even just for a short while before he may as well get found at one point of the day.

By then he would gain a new artwork if he did and take it inside to tame his sanity. He hoped nothing would come to it at some point. He needed the exact essentials of taking flesh and blood for his own but considered that if he wanted to survive longer he'll need to avoid such trivial things that could lead to his death. Just a while more longer is what he could ask for. Every day he hoped that someone would find a cure to stop this madness. Was it stupid to hope for something that almost seemed to be impossible to have?

Taking in the sound of a distant meow nearby Jun decided to shuffle into the same location he thought the feline would be. Taking small but gentle strides he was met by his pet feline who eventually found another companion of its own. Strange, could it be that his cat found him his new–. No, he must not think of such desires right now. Jun approached the female with a smile that decorated his lips. He walked towards the both of them cautiously, not to scare any of them with his presence.

"Ah, Puff there you are and you must be?"

@▸ wen junhui。 The scent of rusted pages and dusty shelves is but a figment of Yein’s imagination now, for the library has been ransacked like all other establishments. Bronze shelves have toppled to the ground and tattered books have met their demise against parquet. Here and there, even the remnants of rusted blood decorate the building. But such doesn’t faze the girl. In fact, nothing much ever does. But it was amidst a rare conversation on the radio she has that reeled her attention. It was one of boredom and finding solutions to entertainment. A girl had mentioned painting and scavenging art stores, but the library was the only similar place Yein could find.

To her surprise, despite the ruin the establishment has faced, many of the bookshelves rightfully contain objects still. Dust lines their tarnished covers but still, the girl is bound to find something she can at least comprehend, right?

Yein’s attention is quick to divert to the entrance of the library at the disturbance of her surroundings. The light pitter patter of what sounds like feet catch her attention. She isn’t one to welcome company and the likes, and thus she’s on her feet and ready for combat or a quarrel. But her vision only meets the thinness of musty air as she approaches the entrance, away from the cluttered shelves. That can’t be right. She definitely heard something.

“Meow.” …A cat?

Orbs of bistre shift to the source of the sound, and immediately does the expression on Yein’s face soften at the sight. A little puffball of joy. A tiny feline that has caught her attention and feelings that aren’t just disdain for mankind.

“Aren’t you an adorable thing?” For once, she wears a smile upon her visage, bending down to pat the creature. It purrs, rubbing up against her hand. Surprisingly, the little thing reciprocates interest in her, and she can’t help but forget of her situation and pick up the cat into her arms. Maybe this world isn’t so bad after all.

@▹ jung yein。 [] tw: mentions of blood, body horror, mutilation

Staying vigilant is one of the main priorities that must be taken into consideration when one decides to leave the premises of their home. Occasionally, the artist had to escape the little apartment that held him captive against all the odds that wanted him dead. Unless, he sets fire on them first. It was the need that he had the least to worry about from himself.

Moving past areas that seem all too familiar to him. The walls that tainted random profanities using the color red had proved as a helpful guide for him to get back to his haven. Finally, he can relax with the new food supply that he had scavenged in his arms with his loyal companion.

The feline served as a delightful aid in the boredom and loneliness that the artist had once felt ever since the pandemic grew worst upon the days that passed among them. The radio is a good resort to talk to the survivors that were present but he found a little creature a little more endearing to talk to.

Everyone was friendly but somehow he just can't help but develop the desire of making someone his new canvas. How beautiful it was to extract one of the most beautiful features used to stare at someone. That's right, it was their eyes. The strong creativity of using someone's line of sight and the blood pumping in their veins was something that the artist desired to do next. He'd love to venture his creativity into something as taking away their sight making it as his new novelties stowed away inside his mini gallery.

After taking a few rounds of popping his head in each room inside his apartment a frown formed on his lips. Setting the food that he found moments ago on the table in his small dining area, he was welcomed by the cold crisp of air biting against the exposed skin he had from his tattered jacket.

"Puff, where are you?"

He scurried off towards different places that he deemed to believe the feline was present. Hopefully, whoever took his companion away from him didn't have to die right?

( open; random starter )

It shocked Taekwoon to see just how much damage had accrued within the walls of the library. By acceptable definition, a library is a safe, sacred space; a place for those to go to expand their capacity, to learn and to grow; a place of peace and tranquility and boundless knowledge. It seemed that when hit the fan, everyone forgot how to be decent. There were scorch marks everywhere that the eye could see. There were books scattered and torn to shreds all over the floor and shelves toppled. What disturbed Taekwoon the very most is that the tiny koi pond at the center of this marvelous library was overgrown with moss and algae, and the fishes were putrefying in the stew of stagnant water. Luckily he could hardly smell it for the scent of burned paper was the most prevalent.

He was moving slowly, reverently through the halls, trying to cling to every last memory of what this used to look like. He believed firmly that someday everything would go back to normal. It would. It had to. He knew exactly the section he needed to find and his feet carried him toward it unconsciously. Biology. There were so many facets to the field of epidemiology- let alone the all-encompassing term of 'science.' He was an expect, however. Sixteen years specializing in virology? diseases? illness of all sorts? transmission? biology? chemistry? He had to retain at least something from all of that study.

What he intended to do now was find the books that would give him more of a scope into the broad that painted this epidemic. He had settled down with an armful of books in the farthest corner of the second-story when he heard a voice. He instantly crouched low and pulled out his blood-encrusted knife, and watched. waited. listened for any sign of an approaching struggle.
