about fables
guide
Fables are what we call beings from fairy tales and legends and the like that have been brought out of something called the "Storybook"—a collection of stories that these characters, the fables, exist in. Once brought out of the storybook, a fable is transported to a magically hidden neighborhood in modern day Manhattan, where they will live and exist as a regular human being.
HOW FABLES LIVE:
When a fable is first brought out of their storybook (this happens according to your own timeline), they are to assume a new identity so as to not earn suspicion from any locals and possibly put themselves in danger. In addition to this, they must never speak of their true identity to any humans or they run the risk of being "written off" (killed).
All fables, regardless of how long they've been out of their storybook, do not technically age. They will live for as long as their stories are still told. It is also hard to kill a fable for this very reason. The more your story is talked about and the more "well-known" you are essentially, the harder it'll be to kill you. In cases where a well known fable gets in trouble, they will be banished and/or imprisoned.
Outside of this, fables are able to work and do as they wish, just like any human would.
FABLE APPEARANCES:
For fables that have an animal or monsterous appearance, they are to use something called a glamour—a magical item that will give them the appearance of a human. It can be something like a necklace, ring, earrings, a bracelet, etc. but they must always have one if they want to live and exist in human society. They must also never take this item off.
