greenfields
quite the contrary to it's name, greenfields is a rainforest located east of auryleis, where witches in training from the mother's peaks would camp and retreat to. it is also quite known for it's history of being a good hiding spot for vlatkan witches in auryleis。

@⚜ san vlatka. ᵃ the song from her lips did not waver at all, she could feel the power flowing out of her and into the ground below her. she could feel the notes land on the barren land calling the living things to bloom one more time, to summon their energy and show the world it's beauty once more. dawon spread out her hands, reaching out to the sky as she could feel the hymn sing to her.

she could feel the man resist her song, she had grabbed onto him but his heart was already darkened. he had ceased believing in hope, stopped hoping for a better future. he was cruel to the core, and dawon knew with the power she had now she could not hope to change his heart completely. but she hoped to at least plant a seed, a sliver of doubt in his impenetrable heart whispering that there could be a new way forward - that there was a world out there waiting out there that could be different than all he ever knew. dawon perhaps couldn't change such a stubborn person, but that didn't stop her from at least trying. for she could tell his feelings, his feelings of conflict and his thoughts of her death. and if she did not sing now, she would not have the chance to ever again perhaps.

ending her song, she opened her eyes and met the man's eyes. there was a smile etched on her face, for that was the type of person she was, to remain brave even in danger, but her eyes were set onto his. if she was to fight for her life, she would go down swinging. she would protect the singing ministry and her hymn book with every part of her.

however, dawon also knew that fighting was a last resort, there was something else she could try.

"the song... how did you feel about it?" levitating the hymn book in front of her, she glanced down at it "it wasn't the hymn from this book though. i am sorry if you were expecting to hear the song from this book." this was her last ditch attempt at diverting his attention to the book, to lead him into wanting to see the book up close. she knows what will happen if people who are not part of the singing ministry read the book, and she knows that she could try use that moment to retreat back deeper into auryleis borders.

all he had to do was be curious. all he had to do was ask her more about the hymns.

@✙ wooseok vlatka. ᵃ dawon dodged around the trees of greenfield expertly, eyes trained as she looked for signs of any witches around. there had been a small skirmish in the rainforest recently and dawon had been ordered to go out and heal any lingering witches from auryleis that had not been able to retreat from the fighting. she visited these forests often to help bless and heal the wildlife that grew here, so she was quite familiar with the area she was traversing.

there had been little casualties but, dawon's heart clenched all the same when she saw people limping into the medical tent, telling her and the other healers there about the sudden hostilities. even if her superior hadn't ordered her into the greenfields to check for any lingering witches, dawon would have volunteered to go herself. she cared for her countrymen and she cared for life. she needed to go see if the trees had been badly damaged, if she needed to assist in their healing through a hymn.

finally slowing down, dawon stopped beside a tree that had fallen in the fighting, a small frown on her face. placing her hands on the trunk, she knelt down and closed her eyes, focusing the song in her heart through her palms to bless it and wish the tree new life. she began to sing a song of blessing for the life around the fallen tree and that life would continue in the forest forever. she sang for peace, she sang the hymn her mother taught her, imaginal's song.

@✤ dawon auryleis. ᵉ what a brave soul, san wanted to comment. he still wasn't certain whether the lady already knew who he was or not — though he supposed that wouldn't have mattered. even if she were to call reinforcements, san would be quicker at his feet. he was one with the air, after all — what kind of air controller was he if he couldn't even embrace it? besides... her knowing who he was might make her think twice before fighting him. even with his title, the reputation that followed after him... wasn't exactly so glorified, and yet it didn't matter to him anyway. there were advantages from it, and as such, he took it. ah, san blinked in sudden realization that he didn't even know the lady's name.

eh. he supposed that didn't matter too much.

the chances that she was going to die that day were rather high, anyway.

his figure was relaxed in its poise, as though he trusted — believed that the other wouldn't attack him at this time. if it were san, that was what he would do. his days as a child had taught him that letting the enemies go alive would simply lead to his own downfall in the future, and to fix that... ah, let's say that san wasn't exactly known for leaving a single soul alive after a massacre. but when the lady sang, when the place around them seemed to have gradually begun getting brigher, san's eyes naturally narrowed, alert. the way she sang sent a wave of unfamiliarity to his body, and it was only this time that he tensed up the slightest bit.

it was the very emotion he despised — hope. it was the very thing he chased after — hope. she sang for a world that was more alive than it was, a world that was... say, clean. at peace. clear of any violence or wars. that simple message sent through with her voice, yet no matter how much it tried to touch his heart, san remained willful in his own beliefs, and he closed his eyes briefly. should he try and kill her during the singing? or would the book become some sort of a backup for her if her life were ever in danger? it was probably the latter, and his jaw clenched at the thought, regretting to ask the other to sing.

but this way, he was collecting information, and he was... quite certain he'd gotten a hang of it — well, a better understanding than others might have if there were people around them. his fists clenched at his sides, and he wanted nothing more than to clutch that neck, stop her from singing for such false peace. but he kept himself in place, merely opting to clench his jaw tightly as he waited for the song to finish.

@⚜ san vlatka. ᵃ it took all of dawon's focus to not shout out in surprise when she heard the book sing that message to her. she was truly in danger. someone from vlatka meant that he would kill her. and she couldn't die here, not now. not when the singing ministry and those who were left needed her.

how did things come to this? she was stuck with a vlatkan patron in the part of the rain forest she wanted to save. her good intentions brought her in this strange situation. she didn't want to fight, she just wanted to sing for this forest. she wanted to sing for all living things and bring hope to them. and he... he was a living thing too. she believed in that, in the fact that they were both living, so she smiled, nodded, and gathered her courage. "of course."

if she was to convey her wishes to all living things around her, she couldn't use the hymn that was in her hands now. no, she had to sing a hymn that would bend to her will, one that would be able to change and touch all living things around her. a hymn that only she could sing, truly sing. and so she opened to sing a hymn passed down to her from her mother, one that no other person in the singing ministry could sing.

she sang imaginal's song. and when she closed her eyes, she could see from the sky that was still bright and shining, droplets of light falling to the ground almost like rain. but, it wasn't rain - when it touched the group it lit up the earth beautifully, glowing and she could feel the earth under her breathe a new breath of life once again. her will was to awaken the earth again. her will was to touch the heart of the man in front of her, even if it was for naught, even after she stopped singing he would forget and kill her, she wanted him to feel the hope she had for the world right now.

so she sang.

@✤ dawon auryleis. ᵉ while listening to the lady's words, the gears inside san's brain were already starting to turn. the smallest of the other's movements weren't left unnoticed by the lad's eyes. even during his earliest years, he'd learned that being observant was another way of ensuring survival. why must the lady clutch the book hardly so? either that was an extremely important book or... san's eyes almost narrowed at his thought process — or was it the source of the song, he wondered?

his thoughts were confirmed by the auryleian's next words. so the hymn /was/ indeed from that book of hers. if it was from that book, then... were auryleians the only ones capable of wielding that book, he wondered? there were so many questions that san wanted to ask, so many answers that he sought. he was getting his answers though, from the small movements of his companion. not many were aware of this, but there were already quite a lot of things one could get simply from observing someone else's body language. san was quite lucky to have developed such skill since he was young — though even with that, he still had limited... options, answers.

"hm, i think i would remember such a book if i have seen it before," san replied, shrugging his shoulders nonchalantly. "is it a family heirloom of sorts? one that's inherited by the next generation?" because if that was the case, then it would explain why it was... what one would consider a rare ability — a book of songs, he assumed. a page for each spell, he assumed as well, though his assumptions could only take him so far. he needed to see it work, needed to see its functions — everything that he could use in the future.

"if you don't mind, would you sing for me? please, you have a lovely voice. i rarely hear that kind back in my hometown, you see."

@⚜ san vlatka. ᵃ her eyes gazed upon the stranger carefully, trying to gauge who he was. there were not many witches that would dare to cross into enemy territory so boldly without backup, nor a single person with them. even without the book singing warnings into her ear, she knew that this man was either a complete fool, or was stronger than anything she's seen before. she clutched the book tighter in an effort to quite it down, to soothe it from its fears of the man in front of her. the song was slowly intensifying and it was starting to scare her, she needed to retreat to a place with more people and hope that the man in front of her would follow.

dawon couldn't help but let out a small breath of relief when she realized that the man wasn't going to get any closer to her. the book in her hands also was starting to calm down as well. keeping the smile on her face, she shrugged "perhaps, but i would do anything for the earth. so, i'm not afraid to do the right thing." looking down at the book in her hands, she immediately could hear the fear and panic in the melody that it sang. lifting it up and placing a hand on it's cover she attempted to use the warmth of her hands to calm it down.

"it's a special book to me, i don't think many have seen a book like this before." she murmured as the expression on her face fell, the book had become completely silent now. no calling out of fear, nothing. the music in her ears was gone and that concerned her even more than the warnings that the hymn book was singing of before. rubbing the spine of the book slowly, she strained her ears carefully before the book sang once again.

he's a vlatkan patron, dawon. you will die if you stay too close.

@✤ dawon auryleis. ᵉ the shift in the air had told san's senses that this was another type of magic — something that wasn't that known yet to the vlatkan coven. if this had been an infamous type, then san would already have heard of it. there wasn't a single line of information — the necessary ones, anyway — that would go unnoticed by the vlatkan patron. it was the first thing that one needed in order to come up with a flawless plan after all — information. all of it. an endless supply of it. one lost the moment their set of information was cut off from them, though in san's case, he could make do even with little information — it was just that he preferred having complete control over something, see.

he wasn't quite certain if the lady already knew of who he was, but that didn't matter, he supposed. with knowledge or without, if her sense for danger was strong enough, she'd know when not to fight her enemies. nevertheless, he had pushed forward for information, and that he would get. keeping a rather friendly expression painting over his countenance, he stopped by where he was, maintaining a safe distance between the two of them. while he trusted his own reflexes, he figured that it would be wrong to underestimate such an unknown thing.

his gaze remained upon the lady's mien, but half of his attention was already directed at the book tucked by her side. "what a noble desire, though i'm not sure how far it'll take you in this world of ours. say, are your sings written in that book you have? i normally wouldn't comment on this, but that is a pretty book you're holding. quite unusual for a mere set of paper."

@⚜ san vlatka. ᵃ as she sung, she could hear the book's melody in her ears, whispering intently that they were not alone. to most, it would seem that her song was continuing on completely fine but, the hymn she was singing was becoming stronger, wrapping around dawon as a cloak that cannot be seen. the hymn book desired to protect dawon because it could sense the winds change, it could tell that someone much stronger than dawon currently was nearby. dawon could not see, but the book could feel. the book could feel the winds changing and moving in ways that were not natural, so the book cried out in fear. when she opened her eyes, she was completely unsurprised that someone was there speaking to her, but she was wary.

those who could manipulate the air were from vlatka, and that meant dawon was not safe.

smiling softly, dawon reached out to close up her book and tuck it firmly by her side. shy to hear a praise, dawon replied slowly, tucking her hair behind her ear carefully. "i'm glad that you think so, sir." shrugging her shoulders, she continued speaking "it is a song that was taught to me by someone who i consider family. you could say... i sing to convey my wishes to the world, in hopes that someone can hear this song and be inspired."

@✤ dawon auryleis. ᵉ others would most likely call the vlatkan patron of air stupid, if it wasn't for his reputation as the demon prodigy. yet san was rather certain that if his subordinates — or even soojung, bless that witch — heard of what he was doing right then. normally, the leaders wouldn't sneak into enemy territory so easily, especially when there was a high possibility of being trapped in it. but to san's defense, he was perfectly capable of defending himself if necessary, and escape had always been easy for him anyway.

a soft voice reached his ears, and his eyebrows moved up in curiosity. he wondered if this was a mere song, or if this was another type of magic — after all, he'd heard of... things. the wind whispered secrets that no one else would have normally known. blending himself with the wind, he floated over the earth, unseen by even a pair of trained eyes. once he reached the source of the song, his eyes immediately narrowed at the sight, and the next thing he noticed was the book in front of the lady.

hoh. he decided to move a little closer, rather confidently, before he unveiled himself, clapping his hands as he tilted his head to the side. "you sing well — i'm impressed," he commented, with a cordial grin on his face. "may i know what kind of song you're singing, milady?"

@⚜ san vlatka. ᵃ today was the day, she mused to herself. she had been wanting to visit the greenfields ever since a skirmish had happened and burned down a small portion of the rain forest. dawon wanted to - no, she needed to be here and help the forest regrow properly. it was her duty as part of the singing ministry, to protect all living things.
dawon settled the hymn book in front of her carefully, gently turning the pages to the specific part of the hymn she wanted to sing. she hadn't memorized the hymn perfectly yet and did not want to risk making a mistake while singing.

she took off her shoes carefully in order to be able to feel the earth under her properly, to ground herself fully before she sang. closing her eyes, dawon felt the sun above her head, the earth beneath her feet and smiled. she was at peace with the earth, and the earth was at peace with her. and with that, she began her song.
