@sana [] short replies again for all plots, hope that’s alright!

“— And that’s all?”

“Yes, sir, we’ve already sent the footage to your precinct, it should be there by the time you get back”

“Ok, thanks” Jeongguk shoved his hands in his pockets, watching the CSI crew head off to continue doing their work. It seemed that maybe their luck had turned around for today— he’d just been informed that there was a lead to go off of. It wasn’t a very good lead, but it was something. It was one more thing than what they’d gotten since the start of these serial murders. He’d have to tell Sana but first—

Jeongguk touched his forward lightly, wincing at a particularly painful stab behind his left eye, why wouldn’t this headache just go away? It was almost creeping onto migraine territory when looking up at the fluorescent store lighting made his vision swim and throb.

Massaging his temples as he walked, JK walked over to Sana as soon as she looked like she was done doing a sweep of the convenience floor; wincing as he stepped in the mushed remains of a bloody entail by accident (why hadn’t this been cleaned up yet?) “So good news is, apparently our guy wasn’t so careful this time. The camera behind the register managed to get something before it was destroyed” He told Sana, looking at her through his fingers.

“You find anything useful or no luck this time?”

@big dave (magnum dong) Sana stuck her tongue out playfully "Sure thing BunBun" she teased once more. If Jeongguk got to call her Banana then she should be able to call him Bunbun.
"Do you have someone that you trust enough about this? We need to be careful or we may end up being the next victims" she sighed and played with the ends of her hair, nervously.

Sana was silent on the ride over since her partner had dosed off after she'd started driving. She was worried that Jeongguk wasn't sleeping at all, he looked exhausted and it made her heart ache. When they arrived to the scene of the crime she hesitated waking him up and decided to get out of the car and let him wake up on his own, unfortunately the car door closing must have woken him up much to Sana's dismay. "I'm not if you'll keep the coffee down after seeing the crime scene" she said as she pulled on her gloves and a case full of supplies.

Sana glanced over at the reporters and civilians trying to push past the officers and find out what happened. She had no sympathy for reporters since they were greedy for any story they could get, just like when super hero's started showing up. There was a lot of backlash that came with it but a good majority of it was because reporters had twisted the super hero's words and made it sound like the super hero was better than everyone else, which wasn't true.

As soon as Sana made her way into the convenience store and saw what was left of the girl, she had to look away and cover to stop herself from getting sick. Just because she worked in this field didn't mean she was used to the horrific crime scenes she'd seen lately.

"I feel the same way at times" she replied back solemnly "Yeah, let's get this over with. I'll start looking around to see if there might be any traces of DNA from the suspect but I don't have high hopes" she admitted and began to use her powers to search around the store, her heightened vision scanning every single drop of blood to find something, anything.

@sana [] length doesn’t bother me as long as you’re happy with what you’ve given! I will probably start shortening my replies anyways because I can’t be spending so much time writing novella anymore, it takes too much out of me atm afejk

Jeongguk laughed for a moment before falling silent, looking at Sana with a cut throat glare that held absolutely no animosity to it “Don’t call me that.” he deadpanned, hopping into the car “Never hurts to be sure, we can get one of the other detectives to look into it for us. We should just focus on the main investigation right now.”

Jeongguk hoped, he prayed, he bribed, to whatever God or Goddess that was out there that they’d find something, anything, that could lead them to who or what was committing these murders. He was so ing sick of things in his life going wrong. Jeongguk desperately needed a break from life continually kicking him down. He hadn’t realised he’d started nodding off until the car was put into park and Sana was hopping out. Jeongguk rubbed his eyes, slapping his cheeks lightly to wake himself up. “God, I need a coffee.. Let’s stop by a cafe if there’s one nearby” Ignoring the fact that he’d had 3 cups that morning already. He opened up the trunk of the car to get their supplies, passing Sana a set of gloves and tools for gathering evidence.

The crime scene was buzzing, with police officers forming a barrier around the convenience store to stop both reporters and citizens alike from looking into the scene. From here, there were minor splatters of blood but nothing too graphic.

Inside the convenience store, however, was another story. Jeongguk felt sick to his stomach, suddenly regretting wanting to get a coffee, at the violent scene before them. It was no less graphic than every other crime; the girl had literally been ripped apart to the extent that her blood splatters reached the other end of the store. “ing hell..” He breathed, only Sana being close enough to hear him.

“I ing hate this job sometimes” Jeongguk muttered, clenching his fists. “Do you wanna go start doing our sweep? I’ll go talk to CSI and see what they have”

@big dave (magnum dong) Sana placed her hand on Jeongguk's shoulder and then placed a coffee in front of him along with the file "You're going to need the caffeine, I have a feeling we're going to be here all night again" she grimaced as her partner opened the file again, poor girl, she didn't deserve what had happened to her, none of the victims did.

She glanced around the room to make sure no one was listening to their conversation before she spoke again "If they knew officers in other jurisdictions then they could easily get those blueprints, or they paid someone to get the blueprints for them. It's just too calculated and meticulous to be a normal civilian, this person has skills only people on the force have. So for now we just have to keep our suspect list wide open until we can narrow it down" she let out a sigh and then got up, walking over to her desk to grab her jacket.

She playfully hit Jeongguk's arm when he called her by her nickname " Hurry up bunbun" she giggled softly and slipped on her jacket and took out the car keys unlocking the patrol car, she slipped in the passengers side and put the key into the ignition "We also can't rule out the people who work at the CCTV companies, they could also be suspects but maybe that's a little much. They would definitely leave a trail but our suspect didn't so we'll cross them out on our list"

@sana [] what powers does Sana have? Did we ever talk about that?

“Ha, ha” Jeongguk replied sarcastically, making a face at Sana that was definitely out of the goodness of his heart. He liked Sana a lot. Even if he had a mediocre attitude towards supers compared to the rest of the department, Sana was somebody whom he held a soft spot for; he had a nasty habit of getting too in his head sometimes and she always seemed to be able to bring him out of it. It didn’t hurt that she had a wonderful laugh. He honestly wished that it wasn’t followed up by.. well, by the news of another death.

“Christ..” Jeongguk sunk into his chair, rubbing his forehead. The frustration was already building. They’d go to the crime scene and find no evidence again, no progress would be made, again. “Pass me the file?” He asked her, holding his hand out.

Jeongguk flicked through the pages, skimming the necessary information. She wasn’t a super. Some would find that a relief but he did not, neither would Sana. His face twisted into a grimace as he came across the first photo of the crime scene; he couldn’t tell where she ended and the blood began. He glanced over at his partner, setting the file on the desk as she spoke, humming thoughtfully.

“You’re not overthinking things, Sana. It could be, somebody on the force would be able to gain access to the buildings blue print without much suspicion.” Jeongguk grunted, folding his hands across his chest. “But how would somebody on the force think to know the layout of a convenience store right on the edge of our jurisdiction?” You could put it down to intelligence, picking out the most unlikely place but he wasn’t sure.. He didn’t want to doubt Sana though, she had a rather good sense of intuition.

“I think it’s safe to assume that this isn’t a normal civilian causing these murders.”

It had been wishful thinking, Jeongguk knew, that it might be some ed up psychopath doing this but deep down, he’d already known that this was not the work of a civilian. Sana had been the first to vocalise the thought on their team and he’d, well, not shot her down, but he had admittedly been reluctant to agree out of fear.

There was nothing they could do until they actually visited the crime scene, possibly his least favourite thing about being a detective. At the start, he’d been able to compartmentalise his job from his personal life but the past couple months, it’d start to become harder and harder; it wasn’t uncommon for him to end up hunched over the toilet bowl when getting home.

“Come on, Banana, let’s go check it out. Get it over and done with.” Jeongguk gave Sana a tired smile, placing his hand on her shoulder. “If you have any other theories, tell me in the car ride over. Unless— were you planning on going ahead or coming with me?” He asked his partner as they made their way down to the garage.

@big dave (magnum dong) [Oh yeah, it's totally fine don't worry about it!]

Sana had all the case files for the recent string of murders laid out on her desk. She took a sip from her coffee and scanned over the files trying to find something, anything that would connect these victims to each other but there was nothing. These murders were completely random, the victims were just at the wrong place at the wrong time.

She was startled as another file landed on top of the ones she already had, her eyes darted up and looked at the newcomer "No, don't tell me there's been another victim" Sana clenched her fists and looked down, another innocent life was taken and there was still no evidence to incriminate the murderer. No, she shouldn't be acting this way right now, she needed to work harder and find the evidence so the victims family could finally have the closure they deserve by seeing the sick son of a behind bars for the rest of their miserable life.

Sana unclenched her fists and looked at the other officer "Tell me about the victim"

"Sooyeon Kim, female, 19 years old, she was found in an alley near a seven-eleven, she was an employee working there that evening" knowing the answer

Let me guess, no witnesses and no security footage?" Sana asked in an aggravated voice already knowing the answer.

"No m'am. No one claims to have seen or heard anything"

"Of course, no leads as usual. Thank you Officer Choi. I'll let Jeon know"

Sana gave a nod to the officer and then carried the new file over to her partner and long time friend, Jeon Jeongguk. "Jeongguk" she called out, no answer. He must be lost in his thoughts again, fantastic. "Jeongguk!" she shouted loudly this time. He was so startled that the pencil in his hand went flying, she looked at him with concern. He must not be sleeping well. The dark circles were proof of those restless nights.

"I wasn't going to ask. I figured you hadn't anyways" she laughed but then turned serious, he was going to have even more restless nights now. Great.

"Yeah, there's been another one, a 19 year old female working at a convenience store, her name was Sooyeon Kim, she was found the same way as the other victims, there were able to identify by her dental records along with her uniform. There was no evidence left behind by the suspect I'm worried Guk. I think it's someone in the force. This person knows all the blindspots for the cameras and knows how to not leave any evidence behind. I may just be overthinking things, sorry" she sighed and then sat in the chair next to her partner.

@sana [] I hope u don’t mind, I kinda insinuated that it was Sana that said JK’s name so let me know if you’re uncomfortable with me having done that! Should be a one time thing, only for the starter purposes :D also ignore my BNHA reference fghjk

Sometimes.. Sometimes Jeongguk wished that he could shut down on some days.

Migraines were an affliction that many people dealt with and yet, despite all the ‘reassurances’ that it was simply in his head, Jeongguk was positive that he suffered from no ordinary migraine. For what migraine caused legible auditory hallucinations. In what world would a rather nasty headache cause JK to hear this vile whispering, the barely understandable hell spawn wrought monologues, day and night until he border line overdosed on sleeping pills.

It’d been like this for days and the headache was only getting worse. Every single one of his senses heightened to almost painful levels; the ticking of the clock on the far side of his bullpen like bombs in his ears(but he could still hear the whispering-), the smell of sweat stained clothing and disgusting acrid coffee breath from his coworkers sent his stomach heaving, the fluorescent light blinding him with its incessant flickering(burn it, burn it all—), it was sickening. He could barely focus on the files in front of him, his pen burring a hole into his paper as menacing shadows danced in the corners of his vision.

His breathing laboured, the rotten taste of bile on the back of his tongue and the voices(burn it all, hurt them, hurt yourself, kill yourse—), the voices, just wouldn’t stop. He was going to be sick, it was too much, too much—

Stop it. Stop it. Stop I— “Jeongguk!”

JK started, pencil flying out of his hand as he jerked in his seat, his heart beat pounding so, so loudly in his ears. He met the concerned gaze of his of a one Sana Minatozaki, a superhero and.. His partner on the force, gazing at him with concerned eyes.

He sighed, leaning back in his chair and casting a weary glance over to his super-powered partner. “If you’re going to ask, no, I haven’t made any breakthrough’s yet.” Jeongguk deadpanned, a crease forming in his brow. This case was driving him ing nuts. Nine deaths. A mix of both human and superhuman. All of them without a single link to connect them together, all ripped apart in a way that would make Jigsaw squirm, all of them clean of any incriminating dna.

The first murder had been an old woman in downtown Seoul, a b-list hero who mainly fought robbers and petty criminals back in the 70s and 80s, it had happened about a year ago with the next murder a college aged boy without any superpower whatsoever. Every victim after that was completely random; at first they’d though there’d been an alternating pattern but that’d been debunked fairly quick when three supers were killed in a row. Jeongguk gnawed at his lips, uncertainty eating away at his very being, one of the murders.. Christ. The media led the major population to believe that superhumans were invincible, they couldn’t be killed. Well, that clearly wasn’t true when All Might, a leading superhero in todays society, was a victim of this brutal murder spree.

“You have that look on your face.” Jeongguk said, staring at Sana with hard eyes. His generally upbeat partner had a particularly sombre mood about her and he could only guess what it could possibly be. Fan-ing-tastic.

“Has there been another one?”
