Forge

There are white marble columns lining walls stained with soot. Chimneys on the roof pump smoke over a gable with carvings of gods and monsters. The forge is located at the edge of a stream, with waterwheels spinning bronze gears. Always, campers hear machinery working, fires crackling, and the sound of hammers against metal. Inside are tables full of projects and weapons, and there was also a big wall map of the camp, used to plan traps to catch the bronze dragon. Hephaestus' children are often, or always, working in the forges.

Why accept store-bought swords and magic spears when you can make one of your own? The Forge is the second home for children of Hephaestus, but any camper is welcome to use it to make their own weapons. If you like working in extremely hot conditions with heavy machineries and dangerous molten metal, the forge is for you!

Plot On Going!

Sequence: Sulli - Chanyeol - Krystal

[G] Kristina Rose [A] 9 years ago
"You seemed to be enjoying the accident very much."

Kristina's eyes narrowed at the remark. What was her problem? Well, okay, she must admit she /did/ enjoy the accident. I mean, who wouldn't? Clyde was good looking, and any girl who finds him endearing would definitely consider herself lucky had she been in Kristina's shoe.

But surely, she didn't like the other female's tone. The other seemed to imply that it wasn't just an accident, seemed to imply that Kristina was the reason why Clyde tripped and fell in the first place.

People /always/ misunderstand, always assume things. Then again, it wasn't as if it was her business to begin with. She already said it was an accident, and even apologized even if there wasn't anything to apologize for in the first place. No need for any further explanation, especially to someone who doesn't even deserve any.

At least, with her attitude, Kristina thinks the girl no longer deserved any further explanation. It wasn't as if she'd listen anyway.

With a huff, Kristina patted the dirt off her pants. And there she thought she could actually be able to get to know the male better, at least hang out for a while... but, oh gods, she should be thankful the moment was ruined instead. Other than it being extremely embarrassing, she didn't need any more false rumors about her circulating the camp.

"I'll let Chiron know that I have delivered the list," she tried to mask the discomfort by smiling, although she knew it might actually be obvious that she faked it. "It was nice meeting you, Clyde. See you around."

After being shot by Juliet's overly sarcastic remarks, Clyde actually felt bad for Kristina. I mean, it's good enough that the redheaded female had apologized for their state of the art awkward situation a few moments ago, but Juliet couldn't just throw daggers at the latter and scream at the world that it was all the doing's of a typical Aphrodite kid. She was being too conclusive.

For all he knew, that was unlike her. But then again, she was never the girl he knew before, so what should he expect?

Scoffing at her attitude, Clyde then pierced his gaze towards the brunette. "Don't put the blame on her. At least she actually has the heart to apologize, unlike someone out there." He spat out coldly, but regretted it afterwards. Clyde must have been a jerk to her by then, though he couldn't help it. It's not right for her to make Kristina look like the villain here. If there's someone to blame, it should be him—or perhaps, his shoelaces.

After a while of the cold treatment, Clyde eventually managed to calm his nerves and laid his eyes upon Kristina, who was all covered in dirt and soot that it was evident enough that she was uncomfortable with all the mess. He gave her an apologetic look, hoping that she'll understand, before shifting his attention to Juliet once more.

"You're talking to him right now, actually." Bluntly, he replied. "And what business is that supposed to be?" He asked, trying to fend off his subtle annoyance towards the female. Then again, he couldn't even get angry at her too long for the Fates might have done a pretty unjust thing of stitching the remains of his heart to everything Juliet Cressida-related, and Clyde just couldn't get away from it no matter what.

And despite how he tried hard to push away those insignificant little thoughts, he couldn't help but to hide his smile at that tiny—he meant really, really /tiny/—pang of jealousy that hinted her voice.

For once, he actually felt bad for giving the good eye for Kristina. She's amazing, no doubt, and the words gorgeous or hot might even be an understatement, but Juliet...

Wow, just what a mess is this exactly?

@[G] Clyde Payton "What?" Stephen couldn't help but laugh in amusement at Clyde's words. "Whoa, wait a second. Let me get this straight." He raised his hand in a 'hold on' gesture, an amused smile by his face.

"First of all, praetorship is supposedly about hope and dreams, though you're certainly right about the machine oil part when it comes to me." But that wasn't the real point. The thing was that... "Second," he said with a chuckle, "as much as it's strange considering who sired me, I was no praetor back at camp Jupiter. And as for the oily part..."

Tapping the other boy's shoulder lightly twice, Stephen gave him a conspiring grin.

"Do lead me to the discovery, please."

"What are you doing here?"

Jinri rolled her eyes, "I'm here on official Cabin 11 business." She nearly smiled at how ridiculous that sounded coming from here, even if it was, somehow, somewhat, true.

However, that moment of almost smiling quickly passed as Krystal opened , “My apologies,” she cleared , Jinri could see her trying to get all the gunk off herself--typically Aphrodite kid, she rolled her eyes again. “Chanyeol here tripped, and I happen to be on his way. It was an accident.”

'Apologies' her _____.

Jinri sneered at Krystal as she crossed her arms, "You seemed to be enjoying the accident very much." She paused before continuing, "And what kind of idiot would trip here in the forge of all places?" Part of that statement was her annoyance speaking, the other part was her blunt self speaking. Really, the forge was exactly a place one would want to trip in, at least it didn't seem like one to Jinri. Honestly as angry (not that she had admitted to being angry or anything), she had not meant to imply that she was calling Chanyeol an idiot. If anything, she was saying he wasn't an idiot because she believed that he didn't tripped on his own behalf, going as far to blame Krystal--if only she had known...

(Now, really, Jinri had no real reason to... /dislike/ Krystal Jung--well excluding what just happened literally moments ago--she kind of just did. Somewhere deep within her mind she knew she had this thing against Aphrodite, because of the whole mess with Chanyeol, and that her /dislike/ towards Krystal--and really all Aprhodite children--was all just prejudice.

But of course, those rational thoughts were no where near the thoughts that came out of .)

"Well whatever," she suddenly became aware of all the watching eyes and wanted out as soon as possible. Irritation was evident, as usual, in her voice as she spoke, "Like I said before I'm here on official Cabin 11 business, so I'd really just like to talk to Cabin 9's counselor and... leave."

One would think after being at Camp Half-Blood for a little more than a year now Jinri would have known who the cabin counselors are--well think again.

[ huhuhu slr guys ilysm ;u; ]

And from the small accident being the best thing that ever happened to her the whole day, as soon as the realization struck her hard that the attention of the workers in the forge was indeed directed to them, and with the hooting and cheers eliciting from the other children of Hephaestus, there was no doubt they were definitely enjoying the show. It did, however, help a lot that Chanyeol had finally decided that it was time to push himself off her upon the (irritated, she observed) remark coming from another camper, whom she guessed by the sudden action of the male, must definitely /not/ be a Hephaestus camper (not unless she’s a fearsome leader of cabin nine, which she doubted since Chanyeol had just told her earlier that he’s the cabin leader—and it actually for her that she barely realized the other female was actually the leader of cabin eleven).

Things got even more awkward from there. Krystal, having embarrassed herself enough for the day, decided it’s best not to show a single expression at all—and so as she stood up, she (tried) to keep a straight face, although she was fighting the strong urge to cringe at the soot that now covered most of her back (even including her hair—oh, her hair). Well, it could be removed. She could just go straight to the bathroom after this task, take a nice warm bath like not a single thing happened here in the forge.

But with the current situation, she doubted she could do that anytime soon.

“My apologies,” she cleared , trying desperately to dust off her clothes and lessen the dirt. “Chanyeol here tripped, and I happen to be on his way. It was an accident.” Krystal didn’t even know why the heck she was explaining for herself. But she did anyway.

What a disappointment, though.

To think she was undeniably enjoying the previous ‘accident’. Oh, the joy of making a fool of herself, really.

Probably one of the most embarrassing (and yet partly good) things that happened within his twenty years of existence was tripping over his own shoelaces. Knowing that the petite female was underneath him did not fail to give off that splash of red across his face--and with Krystal being widely known as an epitome of undeniable beauty did not help at all.

In between his incoherent thoughts, Chanyeol managed to smile despite the embarrassment written all over his face. Gods, how stupid was he to just let himself trip over a woman due to his own clumsiness? Chanyeol could've sworn he wanted to yank the Fates' stupid strings and hang them all off a cliff or something, but of course that wouldn't budge. He must admit, it's not like he did not like the way their gap was closed in an instant, after all, it's not everyday that he gets to top a pretty little being like her.

Well that sounded wrong.

"Ooh get it Chanyeol!" His eyes comically enlarged at the sound of those voices. Oh, how he wanted to burn his brothers into ashes at that moment. Just how embarrassing can this get? The male immediately turned his head and shot them a look, only to be taken aback at the sight of a familiar female standing not so far away with a not so pleasant aura surrounding her.

"Gods are you two ever going to get up?"

Ah _____.

It seemed as if a tornado had crossed them that Chanyeol scrambled away from Krystal out of instinct. His face was painted crimson all over, and gods, was he so ashamed of himself that he would have been more than willing enough to be burnt like a crisp (if he's not fireproof, that is).

Keep your cool, Chanyeol. It's just Sulli. It was just an accident. It's not like this isn't normal for men; being infatuated and all after a good trip on the shoelaces, right?

Right.

The tall lad managed to muster whatever calmness was left in him and pretended to dust his pants (yes, he's /that/ pathetic and lame). His eyes wandered to look at Sulli's only to draw away as he then sent a glare towards his own brothers.

"What are you doing here?"

[ omg hi should we post a sequence or something btw? cx ]
[G] Juliet Cressida 9 years ago
(Yeah, it was official, the Fates absolutely love messing with Choi Jinri.)

"What the fu-"

Jinri felt a nudge in her side before she could finish her sentence, she rolled her eyes at the boy before turning her attention back to the sight in front of her. Gods, all she wanted to do was go to the Forge and talk to some Hephaestus kids about making some things for this prank the Hermes kids were planning, that's all.

She was not prepared for seeing Chanyeol on top of some girl--she took a closer look and saw that it was Krystal, Cabin 10's Counselor (it would be /her/.)

Not that she cared or anything (yeah right) it was just... annoying. Seriously, she thought Chanyeol was the type of person to be completely focused on his work, she never pegged him as someone to be all over a girl--and in the Forge of all places. (Now that part, that part made sense.) Then again, maybe the spawn of the Goddess of Love had caused all of this. For all she knew, Krystal could have charm-spoke him into their current situation... Again, she one-hundred percent had no care in the world for the current situation (for someone who is said to be an amazing liar, she sure was doing a horrible job at the moment) and she was certainly not jealous.

Nope. Not one bit.

It's not like it took every bit of strength she had to restrain herself from pulling Chanyeol off and slapping (okay maybe punching) Krystal in the face. (Wow you would think she was an Ares kids or something--no offense to them of course.)

"Ooh get it Chanyeol!" It only took one voice to turn into ten, soon in place of the sound of machinery was the sound of whoops and whatever sound boys made when a boy was quote on quote "about to get it," whatever the hell that meant.

Now that she thought about it, how long have the two of them been in that position?

With a look of disgust of her face (both a facade and real) she opened in hopes of ruining whatever moment they were having. "Gods are you two ever going to get up?"

@[G] Park Chanyeol Oh, how he had no idea how much the idea of staying and helping tempted her, despite her subconscious’ desperate cries of wanting to leave the scorching hot place already. Why couldn’t she have been immune to heat instead? That way she could hang out in this place often so she could see Chanyeol more… and more of him….

Gods. Sometimes she wonders if all her constant rejecting of confessions were already taking its toll on her, now that she’s hopelessly losing her decency over a male she had just met. Or was her mother just playing tricks on her, trying to see whether her daughter would waver in the presence of a tempting young man? Wow, if so, her mother must really know a lot about her to know her ideal type.

“I wouldn’t mind staying to observe… or help out when needed,” she muttered, and immediately regretted—what was she thinking? ‘Help out when needed’? She couldn’t even forge a weapon, to save her life—much less help carrying excessively heavy items, with the figure of hers. But then, it was too late to take it back. Instead, she could just stay and observe, right? Right. She was sure instead of observing the work itself, she’d just end up swoon and drool as Chanyeol’s marvellous limbs work on the bunch of the new batch of items needed to restock the armory. Even the thought of her doing that was already embarrassing her to bits.

The next thing that happened, however, seemed to be of both good and bad—both lucky and unlucky.

Though, honestly, it was more on the bad side.

When Chanyeol accidentally stepped on his own shoelaces and tripped, Krystal was unfortunately (or rather fortunately, as she was actually crushing over the tall guy) standing in front of him then; so when he lost his own balance, she wasn’t able to keep hers as well, so she ended up falling as well. And sadly, it actually hurt pretty badly. The floor was unsurprisingly hard, and she could say her bottom was tormented big time with the impact.

The lucky part of it was probably obvious; all the glory of Park Chanyeol was now hovering above her.

The loud clanging of the metals hitting the floor was suddenly a distant sound. Like that in the movies, everything went slow motion (wow, was it so lame and cheesy).

Gods, up close his face was beyond gorgeous. If possible, her eyes would have been of a heart shape just like what happens in cartoons when a cartoon character sees the one he or she loves. His doe eyes, his nose, and… gosh, his lips—

Wait. Wait.

He’s hovering above her. He tripped, they both fell. And now they were in such an awkward position, and there were other campers in the forge.

Why was she going all gooey eyes on him?

Someone call the doctor.

@[G] Krystal Jung “You too, Krystal.” He told her, before letting go of her hand as well. Though it seems as if the Fates were playing with them, for as far as what he learned this day, Krystal is also a cabin counselor, same with him. What coincidence, really—he silently wondered if they were meant to be or something—gods wait, that sounded wrong. Chanyeol’s brows twitched slightly, what about Jinri? He internally punched himself. He is so dead—maybe not. I mean, they’re not even in a relationship of some sort so why bother?

Right?

Ah, whatever.

“Well..” He then shook away from his thoughts and reverted his attention to the red-headed female. “It’s up to you.” The tall lad nodded subtly, placing the list on top of his work table as he took out some of the needed armor and crossed them out from the list before facing her once more. “I mean, uh.. It’s fine, if you want to help me out..” ‘and spend some time with me so that I could know you better, Ms. Beautiful.’ He thought, feeling his face flush even more as he once again turned around to look even more occupied when in reality, he’s squealing on the inside like a teenage girl who just got noticed by her crush—Holy Hades, was he pathetic.

He tried hard not to look too obvious when he tried to prevent from staring at her too long. He’d just end up doing something really stupid—or worse, he might even end up burning the forge when too much heat was emitted from his face. Really. This girl had seriously knocked him in the bull’s eye.

Chanyeol then pursed his lips, his eyes shifting from left to right as he frantically looked for some celestial bronze shields. He swore to the gods that he’d have to slap himself later today for being too caught up with this so called ‘love at first sight’ thing that he had forgotten what he was supposed to do. With a deep breath, the guy took long strides towards the far corner of the forge, acting all manly and cool in front of Krystal as he took out two pairs of shields and placed it on top of his worktable.

Looking all suave in front of her—yeah. You’re doing it right, Chanyeol. You’re doing it right.

Little did he know that his shoelaces were left loose and apparently, he ended up tripping due to his own stupidity as those poor shields scattered all around the floor.

Holy duck, was he so /lucky/.
[G] Kristina Rose [A] 9 years ago
@[G] Park Chanyeol As much as her body cried in desperation to leave this place, Krystal wanted to stay for a little more. It was literally scorching hot inside, and she swore even her armpits were crying. Reaching up, she wiped the sweat forming in her forehead with the back of her hand. A part of her was complaining, but she didn’t want to give in. Just a little more… just a little more and she’ll leave.

“Ah, yes,” she smiled meekly, tucking a strand of her crimson hair behind her ear. ‘That’s right, Krystal,’ she thought sardonically to herself, ‘what a flirt you are, touching your hair here and there.’ “That’s the list of weapons needed to stock the armory with a few new weapons.” She tried to sound casual, although in reality her voice ended up rising half an octave—and honestly, by then she could no longer see the difference between her and her other siblings.

When the male diverted his attention from the female and into his work, the female heaved a sigh. Gods, what in the name of Zeus was she doing?

Sure. The male was handsome, alright. And it was a big surprise since he was a child of Hephaestus, who—as far as Krystal had known—was the ugliest god among the twelve Olympians (no offense; it’s true, right?). But for such a handsome face, won’t it e obvious enough that he already have his own target of affection?

Maybe. Maybe not. Who knows?

She almost jumped in surprise when the male faced her, suddenly realizing she was caught up in her own train of thoughts all over again. This sure is happening a lot. For a few seconds, she stared at his hand, wondering if it was safe to touch it; but as he assured her it was, she nodded and reached out to shake his hand. “Krystal Jung, counselor of cabin ten. A pleasure to meet you, Chanyeol.” So he’s the cabin counselor… wow, is this destiny? Pfft. Okay, now that was a ridiculous thought.

“So I guess I don’t have to worry about the list anymore, huh?” she chuckled, pulling her hand away before she could embarrass herself even more by holding onto him any longer. His hand was a big contrast to her small one, but she couldn’t help but find it cute—cute? Cute? Gods, help her.
[G] Clyde Payton 9 years ago
@[G] Krystal Jung He found it adorable seeing that astonished look on her face, especially the way she flashed that small smile and flushed almost the same hue as her hair—gods, was she a distraction. Chanyeol could’ve sworn her beauty reminded him of something. It seemed as if her aura was merely the same as those of Aphrodite children possess, but at some point, it also seemed a bit off—there was a difference, that’s for sure. Only that he couldn’t exactly point out what it was.

For once, Chanyeol had finally shifted his attention to what she was saying. As realization dawned on him, he gave a knowing smile. Long limbs leaned back smoothly at the countertop, his pearly whites slowly peeking out as he then reviewed the contents of the list he was holding. “I believe you’re the volunteer in need of a few stuff to bring to the armory then?” The tall male questioned—more like stating the obvious—and honestly trying hard to keep up with the ‘cool guy’ façade in front of a certain pretty redhead.

Keep it cool, Chanyeol. Keep it cool.

He exhaled discreetly, at last.

It seemed as if the smoke suddenly cleared for a bit, now that he could see her face clearly—oh, what a flawless sight—only reminding him of the dagger he was casting from a while ago. “Hold up a bit.” The tall male said, shifting his attention towards the mold vessel nearby. With furrowed brows, Chanyeol tilted up the vessel at an angle, his eyes closely observing the quality of the bronze weapon as his thumb lightly brushed across the warm blade—it needed more cooling.

Finally facing her once more the lad then chilled his hands from the heat. “Before I help you out, I’m Park Chanyeol, by the way. Counselor of Cabin 9.” He introduced, now stepping closer towards the female as he stretched out a hand and smiled playfully. “You can shake it, it’s cool.”
[G] Kristina Rose [A] 9 years ago
@[G] Park Chanyeol When the male coughed, Krystal was immediately snapped out of her thoughts. How could she just stand there and stare at someone like that? Good gods, it would've been worse if she had started drooling—which she was thankful of not happening. She felt her face heat up, both caused by the atmosphere inside the forge and her own embarrassment. By then, she was sure that the color of her face probably resembles the color of her hair.

The moment he turned to look at her a few seconds ago, Krystal almost choked in her own saliva. He was undeniably good looking despite the soot and oil covering his clothes. Gods know how she'd do anything to run her hand against those arms and feel his strong build—holy Hephaestus, was she just having indecent thoughts over a boy she just saw? “Yeah, hi,” she shyly smiled, running a hand through her hair. She was acting all too girly, and it was all because of this one young man whose name she doesn't even know yet.

Krystal actually planned to leave the forge as soon as she was done with her small task of delivering the list of inventory because of the other tasks that awaits to be done (being cabin leader isn't as easy as it sounds), but suddenly she wants to stay and /actually/ help.

Truth to be told, she was attracted beyond doubt.

It wasn’t that she thinks Hephaestus children aren’t really… attractive, but she didn’t actually expect an offspring of Hephaestus to be /this/ handsome. Admittedly, she couldn’t even recall any of her ex-boyfriends being as attractive as this one. Boy, his height is something.

Clearing , she approached, realizing the list she held earlier was now within the male’s grasp. “I—I was wondering if the cabin counselor of your cabin is here,” she stammered, inwardly cursing herself right after. Then again, at least she didn’t really stammer that badly. “Because I was supposed to hand that to him…”
[G] Clyde Payton 9 years ago
@[G] Krystal Jung It’s been a long time ever since Chanyeol got absorbed in his own world—and by his ‘own world’ meant the secluded forge in camp. After the unforeseen incident in the forest, the lad had found himself slowly giving in to a much more introvert part of him as he worked nonstop, making new armory for no apparent reason. Gods, was it traumatizing, though he knew better than to actually sulk in the corner and preferred spending his time alone in the deeper part of the forge—currently in charge of casting a new batch of bronze daggers for the armory.

With a huff, Chanyeol bent down to take out the leftover supply of cooled bronze alloy underneath his worktable and place it on top of the metal counter at the other side of the room. The lad then took off a chunk of bronze from the supply with his hammer in one thump, before summoning heat in his palms to let the metal melt and flow into its respective mold container. Normally, his half-brothers would struggle in heating up the said metal into their desired casts with the lack of manpower and even having troubles in summoning fire themselves. In Chanyeol’s case though, it would be a whole lot easier—for once, his abilities as a fire wielder paid off in terms of making armor.

Flames and white smoke emitted from the fire-proof casts, thus, making the child of Hephaestus squint his eyes to observe the state of the bronze dagger despite the blinding light—his right palm still radiating heat towards the mold vessel as his other hand gradually poured in the bronze alloy with such delicacy.

Chanyeol was obviously engrossed in his own work that he mindlessly sung a random Beyonce song despite his inability to reach the high notes. Oh, was he a singer.

Little did he know that someone was watching the male from a distance.

It took him a few minutes to actually snap out of his silly little trance once a piece of paper caught his eye. Cooling his hands for a bit, the lad reached down for the piece of paper only to realize that it was list. He raised an eyebrow. ‘I don’t recall having a list like this.’ Chanyeol then folded the paper and turned to inquire the others about it when an unfamiliar red-headed lady welcomed his sight.

“Holy Hades—“ The male nearly yelped in surprise as he found himself at loss for words, not denying the fact that this female right here got him staring—milky white skin, waist length hair dyed in deep crimson, soft facial features, might have been dressed up in casual clothes but is in fact, breath-taking despite the simplicity and the idea of a female down in the deepest parts of the forge was downright shocking—man, was she something.

It was about time that Chanyeol shut his mouth close as he choked on the smoke that nearly clouded his throat. The guy coughed, feeling his face warming up in embarrassment before he actually tried to meet those beautiful pair of eyes and stupidly greeted. “Uh, hi.”

@[G] Park Chanyeol With a list of weapons needed to supply the armory, Krystal made her way to the forge.

Doing something as voluntary as delivering the list to the forge wasn’t really something a daughter of Aphrodite would do in a regular basis, knowing how just one visitation in the forge would get you dirty without even touching anything (the smoke isn’t really considerate), but Krystal wasn’t just a child of Aphrodite. As much as possible, she’d like to be at least seen as someone different from her siblings. She radiates the same power as the other children of Aphrodite, that’s for sure, and she also has the same qualities—but at least she’s not someone who’s afraid to get her hands dirty.

As she stood by the entrance to the forge, her eyes scanned the list. Armors, swords, spears, daggers, shields, all manufactured in the forge and stocked in the armory. Sometimes, she couldn’t help but wonder where the camp gets Celestial Bronze—then she figured perhaps the deities are nice enough to sponsor their camp.

Krystal approached one of the workers, asking where she was supposed to give the list and the latter pointed to the direction that leads deeper into the forge. Smiling in gratitude, she bowed and started to walk forward. The camp has an unlimited stock of weapons, and she wonders where they could possibly use that. Capture the flag doesn’t even use much weapons. Then again, maybe the camp only uses precautionary measures just in case something comes up.

Moistening her lips, she looked around, only to catch a glimpse of a new face.
…. Wait, a new face?

Krystal may not know all of the campers’ names, but she could at least familiarize herself with their faces. And this one male is one she hadn’t yet seen around the camp. Either he’s new, or he just rarely goes out. Then again, she doubted she’d still not know him even if he rarely goes out of the forge (or their cabin), considering how campers usually gather altogether in the dining hall.

She bit her lower lip as she stared at the male whose attention glued on his work. Her eyes wandered from his legs (oh my gods, look at those long legs), and up his torso (those biceps are seriously a killer!), and there goes his face. His perfectly chiseled face. Even the way his hair fell down his forehead looked… well, endearing. How could a child of Hephaestus be so handsome?

Caught up with her own train of thoughts, Krystal accidentally dropped the list in her hands.
