Climbing Wall

The Climbing Wall is a giant wall which Greek campers climb at Camp Half-Blood. They must climb quickly or it will clash with the other wall, causing lava to pour from the top, and boulders to fall on whoever is climbing at the time.

No summer at camp would be complete without an attempt at the climbing wall. If can make it to the top, despite the lava flowing in the sides and the rock walls rumbling and smashing together, then you definitely have the right stuff to be a hero.

Wanna know how to earn points by roleplaying in this room?

By doing this camp activity (with other campers, of course), each member of the current scenario will gain 50 points. Well, it's not easy to climb up, is it?

Have fun!

@[G] Kim Sunggyu It was difficult not to listen to the lava bubbling from below her, that last shot had been a close call. Jinri could feel her blood trickle down her arm but she gave it no second thought, the injury was minor (or at least she hoped it was) she could deal with it later.

She wondered where her competition was; she wanted so badly to look around, but that would be stupid. He was probably a few inches ahead or right where she was...

Her thoughts went off to the other troubles that could happen -- didn't Sunggyu mention something about earthquakes?
[R] Stephen Krause 10 years ago
@[G] Choi Jinri Sunggyu gritted his teeth, keeping his eyes glued to the steps. He didn't think about anything else except going up, and he /tried/ not to think about the lava, even more so when he felt the heat surging nearby. But it was unsettling nonetheless. If /that/ was to suddenly pour out from above... gulp.

Swallowing hard, he continued, trying to keep his breaths steady.

Faster, faster, faster...
[G] Juliet Cressida 10 years ago
@[G] Kim Sunggyu The top wasn't visible, which annoyed her. Her hands were starting to ache from grabbing the rough rocks, but she couldn't let that bother her. She took in quick breathes and tried to pick up her pace.

A shot of lava spiraled up, the heat left a tingling sensation on her skin. It had surprised her and caused her to accidentally graze her arm against the rocks. Grimacing she slowed back down to her original pace -- which was still fast.

The smell of sweat and blood filled her nose; well now she could say that she put sweat and blood into this race.
[R] Stephen Krause 10 years ago
@[G] Choi Jinri Just at the count of three, Sunggyu ran to the base of the wall and started climbing. His hand took hold of the highest spot he could hold onto from the ground, a few distance on Jinri's side - mainly because going side by side would've been dangerous.

And the heat of the lava seemed to be close, but he couldn't think about it now.

Up, Sunggyu. Just up.
[G] Juliet Cressida 10 years ago
@[G] Kim Sunggyu "Three."

A mental bell rang in her ear, with that the race began. Jinri's body was quick, she made sure to see every rock. She wasn't sure if Sunggyu was below her or beside her -- she went with the latter, she may be fast, but he was strong. In only a few seconds she was already hot, probably due to the lava.

Oh the lava, she wondered when that would occur. She grinned.
[R] Stephen Krause 10 years ago
@[G] Choi Jinri If P.E was easy back then for him, would it be easy now as well?

Second question is, does it matter? It wasn't like it was his first time to be branded a loser.

But then again, he wouldn't let the pride of his cabin be trampled just like that.

And Sunggyu stretched his muscles, his features hardening as he hissed and took a readying stance.

"Two."
[G] Juliet Cressida 10 years ago
@[G] Kim Sunggyu Beware? The word made Jinri laugh; he must be confident to tell her that. And if both of them were confident, well, this would definitely be a race to watch. She her lips and turned her attention away from the man. If all went well for her, she wouldn't be able to physically see him until after the race was over.

She loosened herself up. You can not lose, she encouraged herself in her head, if you lose then your pride is gone. Taking in deep breathes, she began to count. "One."
[R] Stephen Krause 10 years ago
@[G] Choi Jinri Not that Sunggyu expected anything less; the sigh coming from him was purely his own frustration. Pity has no place in a competition, though he nodded approvingly of her answer. He did not know her, and he knew he has to be wary of tricks when it comes to the campers from Cabin Eleven... so that was the best he could get.

"Fair is fair. Not bad." He remarked as he pursed his lips, mapping out the possible routes. "And about the pulling? Beware."

And he returned her wink with a smirk. If she could pull something on him, then he could just get right back at her.

"On the count of three?"
[G] Juliet Cressida 10 years ago
@[G] Kim Sunggyu No prize? Pouting only for a second, Jinri, again, smirked at the man. "Alright, deal." honestly, she probably would have asked him to get her ice cream or something.

"Not really. Not sure if I've done this before."

Instead of giving him a look of pity, she smiled at him. "Well then I guess that makes the race completely fair then." she gave a fake sigh. "Though I'm still wondering whether or not I should pull a few things here and there, if you know what I mean." she winked; her words made it sound as if she were actually thinking about tricking him, really she wasn't.

(Because he doesn't seem like a bad guy) this game would be solely on skill.

"I'm ready."
[R] Stephen Krause 10 years ago
@[G] Choi Jinri "Void it, then." Sunggyu grinned back. "Race up for the sake of winning. Nothing else. Deal or not?"

He was one who plays it safe, after all; if it's for fun, he would. But not with an unknown riskㅡnot with the chances of her asking for anything he wouldn't want to give.

Sunggyu gazed up as he walked closer to the wall, estimating his own strength. It was quite the climb, and even if he might have been used to pulling bowstrings, this doesn't come close.

The son of Apollo took a deep breath.

"Not really. Not sure if I've done this before."

And he sighed softly.
[G] Juliet Cressida 10 years ago
@[G] Kim Sunggyu "Whoever wins..." formed a line; even with things like this thinking wasn't her thing. "We can figure that out after /I/ win." she flashed her signature grin. Being confident would help her out, she looked up at the wall, she couldn't lose.

Placing her hands on her hips she turned back to Sunggyu. This was going to be fun. Smirking now she motioned him over with her head. "Well come on!"

From the she saw it he had the upper-hand in strength, but she was fast. She glanced back over at the wall. If she could just get above him and block his way as she went up, she would win. She got positioned herself, ready to climb.

"Any little tips?"
[R] Stephen Krause 10 years ago
@[G] Choi Jinri Now that prideful tone just made Sunggyu grinㅡit wasn't what he really meant to say that she will fall. He was just saying that it was possible for her to fall but she wouldn't be saved even if he waited below to catch her.

He was the healer after all; he'd seen some of the worst cases, and yes, it would do better if she does not fall.

Soundlessly following the female closer to the wall, he smirked back at her.

"Fine by me." His competitive side was taking over, and with him being the son of the god of masculinity, honestly, he was quite confident about this.

Only problem would be the headache coming his way. But if he'll lose, he'll lose fair.

"What will winning entail?"
[G] Juliet Cressida 10 years ago
@[G] Kim Sunggyu The way he spoke did trouble her a bit; it bothered her that he didn't remember certain things -- it bothered her that she might be irritating him because he can't remember, she wasn't bothered by the fact that he didn't remember, well she was, but not like that.

She shook the thoughts out of her head. Now wasn't the time to think about that.

Jinri scoffed. "I can assure you, I will not fall." her voice was full of pride, now she really /couldn't/ fall; falling meant losing her pride.

And that was definitely something she would not allow to happen.

She strode closer to the wall. "Let's make this interesting," she smirked at the man, "Who ever gets to the top first wins, okay?"

@[G] Ryu Saera Naeun sighed and was about to say something when she decided not to instead. "Well.. I have to go. I'm supposed to be visiting Stardust." She said and bowed her head lightly before leaving. As she walked off, she reached into her pocket and pulled out the coin which leads her to her mother's statue. "Mom.. I'm going to leave for my quest in Manhattan soon..but I'm scared.. I don't think I'm prepared.." She tried telling her mom through her mind but like always, there were no replies. It was as if the goddess herself had disappeared or something. Walking away, she kept her coin back into her pocket and dashed to the pegasus stables.
[G] Angel Lorette 10 years ago
@[G] Ryu Saera "Well.. The forest and definitely outside camp grounds." Naeun said in reply, nodding slightly as she thought to herself. "What do you mean why you?" She asked. "You make it seem as if you dislike being a half-blood." She said, looking at her.

Naeun kept quiet for a moment before speaking,"Saera-ah.. Don't think of this as a curse. Look at the bright side, okay?" She told her. "And..as long as you're trained and armed, you should be fine." She continued. "Just..don't go wandering around unless you want this to happen." She said, lifting the left side of her shirt slightly to reveal her wound on her hip. "A manticore did that and trust me. You wouldn't want to know what it feels like." She continued, before letting go of her shirt causing it to cover up her hip once more.
[R] Stephen Krause 10 years ago
@[G] Choi Jinri Eyeing the top of the wall, which was honestly blinding because the sunlight hits straight to his eyes, Sunggyu only chuckled.

The daughter of Hermes seemed to be /so/ prepared. Him on the other hand, was not even preparing.

But...

"What, you think I'll just wait here and try to catch you if you fall?" He smirked. "I assure you it will /not/ work. Watching sounds fun, though... but maybe I will. Just for the sake of trying... again."

Maybe, it was not the first time he'd be doing it. Just maybe.
[G] Juliet Cressida 10 years ago
@[G] Kim Sunggyu So he had never heard of any death cases (that was good), but since he knew that one would stay in the infirmary for two days, she assumed that their were quite a few lava accidents. Their was probably a good chance she would become one of those cases.

Well, that was /definitely/ reassuring.

Although, the new knowledge did add to the excitement. Her body was flowing with adrenaline now. She brought up her hands up to her head and tied her hair into a ponytail. Hopefully the worst case scenario, she would end up in the infirmary (she didn't feel like being the first death on the climbing wall, that would be embarrassing).

Jinri turned back to Sunggyu, her ponytail swinging as she moved. "Are you going to climb up too?"
[R] Stephen Krause 10 years ago
@[G] Choi Jinri Sunggyu hissed softly at the question; it was... well, quite tricky.

"Uhh..."

How do he say this now...

"...Maybe? I've never heard any case of death here, but if you're not careful enough, the lava alone is enough for you to be sent to the infirmary and stay there for days."

Nasty cases, those. Not to mention falling.

"Best you avoid everything, I guess."
[G] Juliet Cressida 10 years ago
@[G] Kim Sunggyu "Okay, there it is..."

Well, it certainly was something. Jinri un-linked her arm from his and took a step towards the wall. When Sunggyu had described it earlier, she had expected exactly this. It was a bit higher than she thought, but that wouldn't be a problem, heights didn't scare her. Although the lava and earthquakes could serve as a problem...

"Quick question," she started, still facing the wall, "Is there a chance we could, well, die?"
[G] Angel Lorette 10 years ago
@[G] Ryu Saera "Well, too bad cause you're still going to have to get used to their chattering and gossips." Naeun said, shrugging. "So are all demigods like them or worst or better?" The other girl asked and Naeun sent her a look that said 'really?'. "Well, what do you think? Am I worst or better or like them?" She asked her back. "I wouldn't say worst. Nor would I say like them or better." She continued. "Everyone has their own unique personality." She said, shrugging. "For example, the demigods of Hypnos would always be sleeping. Well, mostly sleeping. Us Athena kids, we enjoy reading and strategic things..I suppose. Though I'm slightly different since I love and adore art plus the fact that I think differently from my half-siblings." She told the girl calmly.
[G] Angel Lorette 10 years ago
@[G] Ryu Saera "Hmm? Them?" Naeun asked, gesturing at the Aphrodite demigoddesses as she took the water bottle. "Lady Aphrodite's kids." She said simply before chugging down the water. "They sorta..enjoy gossiping. Especially about that event." She mumbled the last part as she kept her water bottle. "You seem new to this camp." She said. "Are you?" She asked, picking up her backpack. "If you are, well..you're gonna have to get used to their behavior and every demigod's behavior. Most of them are like their godly parent." She told her. "Well.. Not everyone but most." She said, nodding.
[G] Angel Lorette 10 years ago
@[G] Ryu Saera "It's good to meet you, Ryu Saera." Naeun said cooly with a smile. "Now, if you'll excuse me. I have to try once more. I bet the things I have to face whilst on my journey would be tougher than this." She told the other girl and turned to look at the climbing wall where the lava had stopped pouring. "Hold these for me, won't you?" She asked, handing the other girl her bottle and her face towel before dashing towards the climbing wall once more, this time getting to the poles successfully. She climbed the poles and once again, slipped but this time managed to grab hold of another in time. Closing her eyes before opening them again, she proceeded to climb till she reached the top of the pole. Looking up, she realized she was closer than ever. However the lava had started to pour. Having no choice, she jumped down again gracefully. As she walked back to the girl, she realized Aphrodite's children pointing and whispering things to each other. Completely aware to the reason, she ignored them.
[G] Angel Lorette 10 years ago
@[G] Ryu Saera Naeun was about to get up by herself when she saw a hand in front of her and a voice asking if she was alright. Grabbing the hand, she pulled herself up before dusted her palms and her clothes while nodding in reply. "Yes, thank you." She said quickly before turning to look at the climbing wall once more. "Son Naeun! You can do this." She muttered to herself before dashing towards the climbing wall once more, this time climbing it. As she reached the area with the poles used as stepping stones, she slipped and fell only to have her feet caught onto the ladder causing her to hang upside down. "Dear gods and goddesses.." She groaned as she tried to stand upright once more, failing. Taking a deep breath and hoping her gymnastics she learnt when she was younger would help her, she swung herself and managed to grab hold of the ladder, pulling herself up. "Alright!" She cheered and proceeded to climb the ladder. She looked at the poles and sighed before climbing the wall once more , this time failing since lava was already pouring down. Wanting to start over, she jumped off and landed on her feet before walking towards the girl from earlier. "Thanks for your help earlier." She said with a smile as she took out her face towel from her bag and wiped her neck and face. "I'm Son Naeun, daughter of Athena." She introduced herself , taking out a bottle of water before gulping down a mouthful of water. "And you are?" She asked.
[G] Angel Lorette 10 years ago
Naeun stood in front of the climbing wall and took a deep breath. "I need to do this." She encouraged herself and nodded before pumping her fist in a way of encouraging herself. Today, she looked a little different. She had tied her hair up into a high ponytail and she wore gloves. Nodding to herself, she stepped back before breaking out into a run and jumping onto the climbing wall. Before she could even start, she had already fallen onto the ground causing her to wince in pain but it did not disrupt her determination in any way.
[R] Stephen Krause 10 years ago
@Choi Jinri

It was surprising, how the girl suddenly linked arms with him and pushed him towards the doors. Sunggyu tensed slightly, but he nodded nevertheless. To push her away would probably be overreacting on his part... and so he did not.

So there they were, walking towards the climbing wall, and Sunggyu looking up at the top. It was high; lucky he wasn't scared of heights. But the lava was entirely another problem. Not to mention the rocks...

He swallowed.

"Okay, there it is..."
[G] Kim Myungsoo 10 years ago
@[G] Oh Sehun Grunting from time to time, Myungsoo made his way to the climbing wall. Chiron had ordered him to go there that day like it was something urgent, not even saying the reason behind it. Then again, it could be just some sort of boring meeting for cabin officials.

His eyebrows furrowed at once as he arrived at the training location, seeing an sickeningly huge crowd. Well, sickening to him, that is.

Myungsoo almost wanted to turn back when it dawned on him that it was some kind of special event for the campers. He felt like attending a cabin official meeting instead, contradicting himself at that moment. Not that he was anti-social, but the fact that the campers often misunderstood (and judged) him just always made him want to keep a distance from them.

He sighed in annoyance, thinking that he had no choice. The demigod had no energy to walk back to the cabins nor shadow travel to get there, and so he dragged himself to the climbing wall with a frown. A dryad in charge of protective gears tossed him elbow and knee pads.

Once he's ready, he positioned himself at the bottom of the wall. He looked up to see the end line, and then at the demigods he's about to compete with. Murmurs about him were here and there, which he absolutely expected of the other half-bloods.

He shook his head once and ignored them. "And let the game begin!" With that, he gripped on the rocks, swiftly lifting himself up.

@[G] Yoon Bora The pain was so immense — he couldn't think at all. He leaned against the tree trunk, panting and clutching his leg, trying to stay conscious, and focused. He heard someone talking to him — telling him to let her help. Ah, it must be the lady from before. Heh. He must've looked pathetic. "I-It's okay—" He breathed, trying to refuse her help, but she was persistent. He let out a low groan as he felt the other touching his leg. He gasped for air — it hurts too much.

The wound started to sting even more, but soon, it ceased to a ticklish itch. He could feel his energy boosted, and he isn't suffering as much any more. He opened his eyes slowly, and watched in astonishment as a ray of golden light on his wound. It came from the lady, who is obviously healing him. His wound was soon healed, and it looked as if it had never been where it was. Although the pain from previously was still lingering around, he could say that he felt like a new person.

He slumped onto the grassy floor, pushing his fringe back, along with the perspire. He was still breathing heavily, but well enough to talk. "Are you... okay?" He asked, with wide eyes, as the other stood in the sun. He was afraid that she might faint any moment — his wound probably used up most of her powers. Standing up once he had caught his breath, Hongbin spoke quietly,"You don't have to heal me, but thank you, nonetheless." He smiled softly, his eyes becoming crescents, and his dimples showing.

"I hope i didn't use too much of your energy — you could've just brought me to the infirmary instead. Sorry," He ran a hand through his hair, slightly apologetic.
[G] Yoon Bora 10 years ago
@Hongbin;

It seemed like a terribly, ill wound. He didn't look okay at all and watching him stagger to a stand almost made her hold onto him, making sure he wouldn't fall over, but he seemed to have not needed her help - nor did it seem like he wanted her to help either...

Bora shakes her head at his apologies, he didn't need to apologize at all and the more he did so, the more guilt built up inside her. The blood wouldn't seem to stop, it kept trickling down and she could not understand how he could bare to keep the pain. "Let me—" she was going to offer to help but he immediately took his leave. She could only watch as he limped away, not daring to show an ounce of pain to her.

Bora clutched her hands together, watching as he made off to the nearest tree and before he could get any further, had already taken shelter into the shades. But she knew she shouldn't left him alone, the infirmary was quite a distance away — she could help him.

She retrieved her knapsack where she had left it earlier, deciding to forget about climbing the wall and ran after him. "Hey! Wait up!" She calls and when she reached the tree, she looked over to him, seeing the wound's state had been more terrifying than she thought.

She then pleas, "—let me help you." It was the least she could do, he had saved her after all. She would not take no for an answer and without waiting for him to accept or deny her request, she brings a hand over to his wound. Gathering her mind and soul in one place where the warmth of her body travels to the tip of her fingers and transfers onto his flesh. A golden ray of light forms over, and where the open wound had been ceased to exist until there was not even a scratch left, as if it had never been there. She has healed him.

After healing him, she pulls away out of habit. Her body feels weaker, as the side effects of using this power takes place. She weakly stands, stepping out of the shade and into the sunlight. She breathes out in short, raspy breaths and holds out her hands to the warmth of the sun — it was the sun's time to heal her.

The magnetic energy gathers onto her, the warmth radiates within and it makes her stronger until there was nothing left to fill. Bora exhales, she was healed as well.

[ i never saw your reply until now....sorry :( ]
Lee Hongbin 10 years ago
@[G] Yoon Bora Hongbin lifted his head, and his eyes met with the lady's again. He look down at his wound, fanning it, trying to cool it down. "It's okay," He shrugged. "I get hurt all the time," He forced a snall smiled, pointing at a wound which is still healing on the bridge of his nose. He pushed himself up, staggering a little. He could feel his would throbbing — it hurts a lot. But that's a good sign; it means that his blood vessels and veins are still alive and working. He tore one of his pants leg away, letting his wound breathe.

"I'm sorry," He said again, smiling apologetically. Even though he was told to not apologise, he could not help it. He got in her way, he distracted her from finishing her challenge. Blood is oozing out of his wound, and staining his white socks, with deep red. He glanced at the lady and then pointed to the direction of the infirmary,"I'll get going... If you don't mind," He said, running a hand through his hair, then bowing, before he limped away slowly, a hand clutching his leg tightly.

He didn't get far, though. As soon as reached the nearest tree, he hid behind it and slumped against it, not wanting the lady to see him in his weakest side. Clenching his leg, he looked at the wound, his hands shaking as he removed excess burnt fabric from the wound. "This looks really bad," He muttered, examining his leg. Exhaling, he allowed himself sometime to calm down before moving on the next tree, where he will have to rest for while again.

She could only remember seeing the boy, how his pale skin glistened against the rays of the sun, how his eyes widened upon meeting hers, how it looked like he were going to say something, but then she lost her grip and she lost her momentum to keep going.

Everything happened so fast and before she could even register what happened, she finds herself being pulled away from the lava infested walls. She finds herself falling and with a thud, she lands beside him on the greenery beneath the wall.

Heaving a worried breath, she looks at the wall where lava now covers the path she had climbed, then quickly to the boy. The boy who saved her...

He was apologizing, bowing his head to where her eyes could not see his, but she immediately shakes her head, "no, don't apologize." He was brave, more so than he thought himself to be. Then she saw his wound. "You're hurt..."
