Amphitheater

An amphitheater is an open-air venue used for entertainment and performances.

Nightly sing-alongs are held here, along with other gatherings like end-of-camp ceremony and occasionally shroud burnings when demigods don't come back alive. The campfire is enchanted so it's color reflects the mood of the croud.

[G] Leonidas Bonaventura 9 years ago
@[G] Bijou Roux As soon as the water came into contact with his face, honestly, Leonidas never felt more proud. He did it. He got the girl that always was happy and smiling, to retaliate aggressively. That's the thing about Leonidas- he liked to go against the odds that are stacked against him. He knew it wasn't going to be easy to piss her off, especially since she was so lenient towards his rude behavior. But he did it. He beat the odds. He got her mad.

"Holy freaking crap, Bijou, it's just water," Leonidas exclaimed, though his cheek was red. He didn't care, he got hurt worse before. Getting slapped was no big deal for such a reckless demigod. "I'm perfectly fine, don't come apologizing to me. Don't say it was an accident. You obviously control water so take the goddamned blame and say that you wanted to hit me. Because, let's face it, the water wouldn't have slapped me unless you did."

The way his eyebrows raised and the smirk appeared on his face, he didn't care on whether or not she hurt him. Why should he? Everyone hurts everyone, it's just a fact of nature. He was just relishing in the fact that he got her to hit him, even if it was just with water. His blue eyes dazzled with that trademark mischief, almost like the sparkle of a Hermes kid. Except that he wasn't, instead he was a chaotic son of Tyche that loved beating odds and risking chances. But hey, that was just as great.
[G] Leonidas Bonaventura 9 years ago
@[G] Bijou Roux Leonidas grinned victoriously. "So you're going to start getting mad now? Ha. This should be fun. Y'know, I'm not scared of you. Think of me as a sailor. I was too damned curious about your mysteries to be scared about the storms. There is no way to get me off of the sea and I'll survive your storms just like I survived every other storm," he proclaimed, glad that he was at least getting some sort of reaction other than her smiley, cheery tone. He was winning this, after all. He wanted a different reaction, he got one.

"Oh great, leave them there. I'll find you something to get angry about in the present. You won't have to worry about that," the young demigod said, waving his hand dismissively. She's got bad luck and he's now got the upperhand.

Leonidas furrowed his brow, then grinned cockily. "You think that I think I'm always right? You think my mom would disapprove of me doing this? Aha. See, my mom is impartial to people being a little too happy. Nemesis kind of likes that side of her at times, especially when she casts bad luck on said person. It's kind of funny. I was once too happy. You'd think my mom would look out for me." Leonidas grabbed the magic coin that was given to him once he was claimed. Tyche worked at random, being unable to control some of the things she's cast. She didn't have too many demigod children. So she wouldn't think that she'd have to cause her child harm. He flipped it into the air, recalling all the unlucky things Tyche has done to her son unwillingly.

That one time, Tyche was wrong. And so was Leonidas. He wasn't always right, just as his mom. "Nah. Didn't work out to be a happy ending."

@[G] Bijou Roux "Ha. Ha. Ha. That's funny because, see, that's supposed to be my line. If your life was as bad as you say, you shouldn't let it stay bottled up inside you. Too much positive is just as bad as too much negativity. You need to let it out. And that's what I've been trying to doooooo," Leonidas groaned out, doing the same hand motions as he was before. As if he was trying to grasp something right in front of him that wasn't there before.

"If you know of her capabilities as well as my own... then why the hell did you look at me like I disappointed you? Is it wrong for me to give someone bad luck when my mother does it every day?" Leonidas asked, his hands motioning towards himself, more specifically in his chest area. "That's like denying your water abilities and being disappointed for evaporating the water that you dropped."
[G] Leonidas Bonaventura 9 years ago
@[G] Bijou Roux Leonidas took pride in her reaction, seeing as how she had dropped her water bottle. He let out a smirk, the right corner of his lips tugging up more so than the left. However, her words afterwards and the way she looked at him made him cross his arms and grit her teeth.

"No deal. I'm not up for wagers. I just want you to know how difficult it is to be as happy as you are when the world is far from happy. That you can't throw negativity underneath the rug, instead you got to use it to your advantage," Leonidas said, taking on more a serious tone than his cocky everyday singsong. "And you look like you're surprised, albeit a bit disappointed at what I've done. My Ma loves good fortune and luck, yeah, and she has a habit of giving it too much sometimes. But she is also one of the worse people that gives out bad luck. I know this the most because I'm her son. Don't look at me as if you know my mom. Don't look at me as if I'm doing things that she wouldn't." Leonidas crinkled his nose in distaste, his blue eyes glowing with frustration. He didn't hate her, he despised her attitude. He bears no ill will against her, he just wanted to show her what he already knew. So why did he feel bad? He didn't say anything about how he felt on his decision, and instead, waited for her reaction to his aggravated mini-speech.

@[G] Bijou Roux Leonidas made an unattractive face while listening to her spiel on about her idea of romance. It was supposed to be a wound to your pride, Bijou. Jeez, get with the program. At the end of her talking, all he did was let out a strange noise and held his hands up as if he was trying to grab something that couldn't be seen. "Why are you so frustrating?" he asked with a whine.

"Why don't you get mad? Why don't you hit me? I am probably one of the most annoying pieces of _____ to ever step in your presence and you treat me... well, you treat me like a friend!" he cried once again then pressed his palm against his forehead. Really, he couldn't understand why she couldn't at least scowl or frown at him. "There is no such thing as being happy all the time. And I'm going to show you it. From now, I curse you, Bijou Roux, by the power of the goddess Tyche, with bad luck. The only way to undo it is for me to lift the curse!"

Leonidas didn't have to do any weird motions or point his finger. He just had to say it and it'd happen. He just couldn't stand her sweet smile, looking as if she's never felt angry before. And bad luck isn't as bad as it seemed. It never killed anyone, only left people grumpy and pessimistic. That was his plan - to leave Bijou grumpy and mean. Haha, now see how hard it is for other people to be as nice as you!

Yes, this was mean. Yes, this is a little uncalled for. But Leonidas wanted to prove a point. And he always proved his points.
[G] Leonidas Bonaventura 9 years ago
@[G] Bijou Roux Leonidas gritted his teeth and before he could harrumph at her, he reminded himself why he was trying to approach her. Why he was trying to make her mad. "Aphrodite girls are exactly that, Aphrodite's girls. They don't want me, they want love and romance and all those things that make girls blush. But you. I'm curious as to what you want. Are you the same way? Are you trying to make up for some loneliness by the way you're so friendly, and hoping for a boyfriend? I mean, what is so great about romance anyway?" Leonidas chided, knowing one of the things Bijou wanted was a romance and friends. She probably had plenty of friends but Leonidas knew for sure that she had no romance in her life, yet.

"It's funny how quickly you girls get carried away in things like that. Why wait for a romance to happen when you can go off into the woods, live free and do as you please. Jump off a cliff, climb the highest tree, do all these things that are just as great as 'falling in love'. Not that I believe it's great but so many other people think so. It must be true, right?" Leonidas snorted. Yeah, he was really laying it on thick today. Just for one time, he wanted to see her get mad. Yell at him, curse at him, throw something at him. Heck, even a frown and a scowl would do! Why are you so happy all the time, Bijou? Leonidas wanted to ask but didn't. He enjoyed this method much more.

{Closed for Bijou Roux.}

Apparently, it wasn't hard to find Bijou, although she claimed to always be everywhere. Bijou was sort of a bubbly, sputtering spout, kind of like a sparkling fountain. He disliked her sweet and friendly nature, as it took a great deal of effort for Leonidas not to come off as rude. Now, Leonidas has some dealings with the French language as some of the seasonal hunters spoke predominantly French. So, his tongue was rather familiar with it. Thus, he could with speak her name as if he was a Frenchman himself and about it.

"Ah, Bijou, how well do you shine today?" Leonidas asked in French, with a charming and arrogant half-smile. "The little jewel, sitting there for people to admire but never to have." He continued to croon in French, his tongue rolling off the words with an impeccable native accent.

"Ha, it's such a shame, you know. That one of the most beautiful French names has been given to a girl like you, who's only cute and pretty, at best," he spoke in English this time, his half-smile turning a little dark. He loved to tease Bijou. She was always so smiley and happy with everyone else. It was amusing to watch her get annoyed with him, although it hasn't happened as much as he wanted it to. He's been trying more and more to get her to snap at him. To get her mad. To get her to respond to his mean remarks someway. One person couldn't simply be happy all the time, he reasoned

@[G] Angel Lorette You have not experience Camp Half-Blood without coming to the sing along, as it was said. Stephen's two-hours nap after dinner weren't so fruitful; he'd dreamed about a lot of weird things, some of them concerning a dark, eerie place filled with monsters, a chimera attacking him in a forest, and a river. He'd tossed and his bed, and after waking up to a loud crash of thunder echoing inside his cabin, the demigod decided to just go. He wouldn't be able to do much there by staying inside, though he honestly was still very tired.

Faintly, sounds of music entered his hearing range. There's still weeks before he would have to go back to university, and he thought he might as well mingle. Besides, who would have known that he would be assigned Cabin Counselor the moment he got there? And so, after wearing his favorite jacket - a white Giordano hoodie - the male started towards the amphitheatre. Even then, he'd seen the huge fire of Vesta, and knowing that it was the direction where he should go, he made it the beacon to his way.

Children of Apollo were singing songs of battles, of wins and losses, of glory and honor. It made his heart ache with his own losses, but Stephen continued to walk towards the stair-seats, before silently settling down on one.

It felt different. Not like home. Not like anything else.

Because he'd forgotten his first time there.

Jinri sighed as her quest-mates left her alone; again she could feel all eyes burning wholes right through her -- just thinking about it made her skin itch. Lifting up her head, she made eye-contact with all the campers, why? She didn't really have a reason, though maybe it made her seem braver than she actually was.

One of her siblings called to her, "Ri aren't you going to pack?" She rolled her eyes at the nickname, she had many different names -- Ji (gee), Ri (ree), Jiji, Riri... Jaehee (her boy alias) and Sulli...

In midst everything, she had not gotten the chance to formally introduce herself. She exhaled, well Naeun probably already knew her name, right? And Chanyeol... well he knew her as Sulli, and honestly she would like to keep it that way; she felt it was better for him to hate Sulli, the one who broke his heart, than to hate Jinri, the one who's heart he broke.

(And deep in her subconscious she was hoping that the two of them would make up and /at least/ be friends again. He was one of the true friends she ever had in her nearly twenty years of life.

In her mind she had a little scenario where the two of them would reintroduce themselves and she would go, 'Nice to meet you Chanyeol, I'm /Jinri/.' Gods did she really want that to happen -- though she would never admit it out loud.)

"Jinri?"

She blinked, "Huh?" Oh right, she was still at the Amphitheater; now she probably looked even stupider. "I guess I'll be going too then," Naeun had bolted and Chanyeol had gone out cooly, so what was Jinri going to do? "Bye then," she coughed and smiled awkwardly before speed walking back to Cabin 11.

Jinri sank onto her bed, sliding her right hand over her face. This was happening, she was going to go on a quest... with Chanyeol of all people. (For the umpteenth she found herself cursing the Fates.) Heaving a sigh she closed her eyes and forced herself to sleep, she could pack when she woke up.

"So Captain, what do we do now?" A familiar girl asked, he sighed inwardly.

Chanyeol placed both his elbows on top of his knees as he crouched down to look at the two girls speaking to each other. His eyes then wandered around carelessly amongst the crowd. Just looking at their gazes made him feel really anxious. People were sending them unfathomable stares; who knows if they're pitying them for risking their lives, or just being plainly disgusted by the way they act cluelessly, or how they were quite envious of the mere fact of them getting the spotlight. He didn't know. And to be perfectly honest, he was scared.

"Go back to your cabin, gather somethings that you would need and we'll meet at the borderlines before sunrise." Chanyeol heard Naeun order. Dismissing the thoughts roaming around his head, he heard everything he needed to know. The tall guy finally stood up from his seat, excused himself from the crowding people and took long strides towards the Hephaestus cabin.

'Maybe I need to rest first. Yeah, a good sleep might help.'

It took the guy a series of twists and turns on his bed before he drifted towards his slumber.
[G] Angel Lorette 10 years ago
Naeun smiled happily upon knowing that they had agreed on going on this quest with her. "So Captain, what do we do now?" The tall daughter of Hermes asked her.

"Go back to your cabin, gather some things that you would need and we'll meet at the borderlines before sunrise." She told them thoughtfully. That was the fastest they could possibly act upon their quest. After all, they too needed time to pack and bid goodbye to their friends and family. Yes, it was a minor quest but it was also rather dangerous for 3 demigods to travel around alone even though they only had one destination.

She was aware that people were still staring at them in shock and surprise but she paid them no heed because she, herself was still shocked by her ability to gather fellow demigods on this quest so fast. She had thought she would be forced to use persuasion.

With that, she left the amphitheater with the big wooden box in hand and plans swirling around her mind. She was feeling completely anxious because she didn't know if she'd be able to lead a group of demigods out into the open where they were vulnerable to monsters and creatures.

Taking in a deep breath, she burst into a dash towards her cabin to get herself ready for the quest.
[G] Juliet Cressida 10 years ago
Chanyeol nodded.

As he sat down she suddenly realized how much attention was on the three of them, all eyes were on them. A flood of thoughts invaded her mind: How is this going to work? What is going to happen? How is she going to get through this? What in the world was she thinking accepting the quest? Keeping on a straight face, she took a small step towards the two, it wasn't even minutes after she accepted the quest, yet she was already having second thoughts. (Gods I'm so stupid.)

Her eyes flickered from Chanyeol to Naeun then back to Chanyeol. Chanyeol -- she mouthed a curse word, which probably wasn't unnoticed by all the campers staring at them -- she and he weren't exactly on good terms, and that was putting it nicely. If she was being completely honest she would say that the two of them... well he hated her (right?) After their initial meeting (and the forest encounter, she hated thinking about that), she really, /really/, hoped that they wouldn't have to interact with one another for a very long time. They had a strange relationship, well strange didn't even begin to describe it, but she couldn't think of another word; they had a lot to sort out. (/I/ have a lot to sort out.)

...Poor Naeun. She had no idea what she was doing when she chose the two of them; she would probably find out, and regret it, soon. Unless... maybe she could talk to him, make a truce -- (Yeah right, I'd probably mess up and we would end up fighting again.)

For once, Jinri felt completely trapped, this was something she couldn't run from.

Exhaling a sigh, she shook her head and took small steps until she was directly in front of Naeun and her odd box -- she could the stares burning holes through her very existence as she spoke.

"So Captain, what do we do now?"
[G] Clyde Payton 10 years ago
"I don't know about him, but i'm in." Chanyeol gulped onto her words as the child of Athena's full attention was shifted to him completely. Slowly, he tilted his head upwards, his eyes quite hesitant to meet Naeun's. "Would you please join us?" She asked, with him studying her, and it was no doubt that she was trying to be confident despite how the girl was pretty much shaken up on the inside. Still, even if her fear was rather evident enough for his eye to notice, Chanyeol somehow admired her. She can do something that he thought he could never do; and that is to act strong.

Sometimes he almost wanted to kick his own for being a coward. How unmanly of him, really. But this time isn't a joke. Well, at least it was legitimate enough for the fates to actually test his willpower, and it definitely the hell out of him. His eyes said so.

He took a brief glance at /her/, her face was as firm as what her words mirrored a while ago. She'd really accept the quest offer, huh? Just by the thought, it was more than enough reason for him to hesitate. Of all people, really, why her?

But then he averted his gaze from her and fixed it onto Naeun's. The latter's expression was serene, yet he perfectly saw how her deep brown eyes glinted hope in him. And he knew that the girl did much of her effort to actually put up the 'brave type of girl' facade to convince him, in front of /everyone/. Thus, it made him feel like a useless, shameful piece of cowardly junk.

Taking a deep breath, he slowly nodded his head, thoroughly accepting her request as he sat down the log once again, drowning under his own sea of thoughts afterwards.
[G] Angel Lorette 10 years ago
Naeun smiled upon hearing Jinri's answer. "Thank you so much.. It means a lot to me.." She said with a smile before turning to the tall child of Hephaestus. "And you?" She asked. "Would you please join us?" She looked at him. "I totally understand if you refuse. I don't mind at all." She said. "After all, it's your choice." She nodded.

As she waited for his answer her eyes scanned through the crowd looking for someone she couldn't seem to find. /He's not here/ She thought with a mental sigh before focusing her thoughts on the two demigods standing before her once more.

"Also," She suddenly started. "We might have to leave tonight." She said. "It's not exactly a good idea to keep a god waiting." She nodded.
