@❛ ⚜ ₊ joohyun b. ᵇᵉᵃˢᵗ chaewon opened , about to defend herself and her very legitimate business, when the woman stood up. she watched as the woman began to leave the restaurant, and looked down at her unfinished food on the table. with a scoff, she replied, "i wasn't going to, anyway." but irene was already a distance away, so chaewon said it under her breath.

as she continued to enjoy her meal, a smile crept onto chaewon's face. perhaps it did pay to be kind.

room 13 at tall-tale tower? chaewon was looking forward to meeting her new potential customer.

@❛ ⚜ ₊ chaewon p. ᵖᵉᵃ ᵖʳᶦᶰᶜᵉˢˢ "i already told you, i'm not friends with beastly ira." she repeated before crossing her arms on her chest, "if you want to go to the room 13, go ahead, it's just on the tall-tale tower anyway." joohyun shook her head before looking at her. "i don't think you're an exorcist too." she told her, knowing that the other isn't as convincing as an exorcist.

she slowly stands up from her seat and carries her groceries, "i'm going." then she starts walking before she realizes that the other will follow her again, "-and 'don't' follow me, or else i'll report you instead and give you a restraining order." then she looked away and starts walking out of the restaurant.

@❛ ⚜ ₊ joohyun b. ᵇᵉᵃˢᵗ chaewon was quick to wave her hands in front of her to deny irene's statement. "i meant a fable with superhuman capabilities," she hastily clarified. "i'm just a normal human." a normal human who did not want to become a punching bag with amnesia, but chaewon chose to keep that part to herself for now. she knitted her eyebrows to form a concerned expression, before saying, "i don't think beating people up is a good way to handle your anger."

chaewon winced at the gruesome story the woman was sharing with her, but her ears had already perked up at the first mention of 'hauntings'. rumor or not, it sounded like a great business opportunity to her.

"oh, is that so?" chaewon said. "that does sound very creepy." she then flashed her 'customer service' smile, before asking, "do you happen to know beastly ira, then?" she whipped out purse from her bag, before taking out a namecard from a stack of duplicates. she slid it across the table to show irene and said, "i'm actually an exorcist. if your friend, beastly ira, needs help to get rid of that family of ghosts," she said, placing a hand on her chest, "i can help her to do so."

@❛ ⚜ ₊ chaewon p. ᵖᵉᵃ ᵖʳᶦᶰᶜᵉˢˢ "another fable's help, but you're a fable, plus you already said earlier you're gonna help." then she munches on the meat thoroughly, then she sighs. "look, i don't need 'anyone' to help me cope with my anger, i can handle it alone." even though joohyun denied being helped by someone with her anger issues, she still has that social anxiety ever since she became the beast.

she leaned in a bit to tell the story of her own room number, making the other to be intrigued to come and investigate. "the room 13 of the tall-tale tower has a rumor of murder and hauntings, they said that there is a family of fables lived there before their own kin killed them and left to die for days until the neighbors discovered their body rotting." joohyun tells a fictious story about her room number, "years later, one tenant came and bought the room but months later he was traumatized and later admit to the mental institution."

"but the owner kept it locked so no one would come and live there. the ghosts of a fable family still haunts there until this day." she ended with her finishing the whole tangsuyuk, "some witnesses tried to open the room and sees that the room is filled with papers, some are on the floor, some are stacked together but closed the door by itself. it was rumored that beastly ira, the author of those books we saw at the bookstore lived there." then she leaned back at her seat and shrugged, "but it's only just a rumor." she acted like it really is nothing so the other would be interested to go to her apartment.

@❛ ⚜ ₊ joohyun b. ᵇᵉᵃˢᵗ chaewon scoffed, as subtly as she could, at irene's refusal to share more about her life. chaewon had thought that they were getting somewhere. "wow, drawing the line, i see," she said.

chaewon was actually quite surprised to hear that irene had taken anger management classes, her spoon of rice pausing right before it entered chaewon's mouth. perhaps irene was more self-aware than chaewon had expected her to be. however, hearing that irene had punched the guy, chaewon shook her head in disappointment and continued to eat her rice. after she had chewed, she commented, "you're gonna need someone who can handle your extraordinary strength." she looked up from her rice to look at the woman across table, and suggested, "maybe you need another fable's help."

chaewon shook her head at irene's question. "no, i haven't heard anything about it." chaewon leaned forward, her interest piqued at the possibility of juicy gossip. "what about room 13?"

"been there done that." she responded, "one time, i hired an anger management and when he starts slapping my face, i slapped him back. hard." she told chaewon. "he got amnesia after that." then she continues eating her tangsuyuk, "do you know the rumors about the room 13 in the apartment?" she asked her.

@❛ ⚜ ₊ joohyun b. ᵇᵉᵃˢᵗ as chaewon ordered her own food, she tilted her head at irene's statement. "reflects your life?" she said, repeating the other's words. "your life in the storybook, or your life now?" she asked, now curious about the woman's relation to the book. chaewon nodded at irene's explanation, recalling the details of what she had read before. "so what part reflects your life? are you looking for some cure too?"

this time, when irene chuckled, chaewon was still shocked, though she tried not to let it show through her expressions. "yeah, i wanted to, and i still do," she began to say, before irene's next words had her rolling her eyes. "no, not that way," she said, though she still wasn't sure how she could help the other. "and i could say the same for you as well," she retorted with a 'hmph', before digging into her food that had arrived. "maybe i could get you some anger management help or something," chaewon said, mostly out of spite, but after she had said it, she did think it would be quite useful for the woman. "do you need help with anything else?"

@❛ ⚜ ₊ chaewon p. ᵖᵉᵃ ᵖʳᶦᶰᶜᵉˢˢ joohyun smirked at the other before leaning at the table with her palm on her chin, "no, but the story really is on the spot. it almost reflects on my life." she told her before looking at the outside of the restaurant, seeing people doing what they are currently doing right now. "the whole trilogy talks about a monster girl who wanted to find a way to get rid of the curse but little did she know that she herself is the cure for the curse." she explained.

then when the food is serve to her, joohyun quickly gets metal chopsticks and a spoon as she starts digging in to her tangsuyuk and bibimbap. but she stops in the middle of her eating when she heard the other wanted to help her, but of what kind? joohyun chuckled this time at her answer.

"you wanted to help a monster like me?" she told her, "you want to help me bury a body six-feet under?" then she looked at her intently. "you're weird... really weird... and confusing." then she gets back on eating her food.

@❛ ⚜ ₊ joohyun b. ᵇᵉᵃˢᵗ chaewon nodded at the piece of information irene shared with her. it wasn't much, but it was definitely a start. "i agree, sometimes they should just stick with what makes sense till the end," she said. with a raise of her eyebrow, chaewon poked around a bit more at irene's next statement. "well, i guess instead of cliche, you could say it's relatable," chaewon said, "and that's why so many people read the book." maybe it was a common trope in fairytales, but chaewon could understand the feeling of falling from grace; like how the once-beautiful main character lost her beauty, chaewon had lost her dream life twice.

"i guess you don't mind the cliche story, then?" chaewon asked. "seeing that you stopped to look at it earlier on." referring to the question she had asked outside the bookstore, she probed, "so, you haven't answered my question: do you know the author? or read it before it became popular?"

chaewon was pretty surprised to see irene grin at her, and her question threw her off once more. chaewon wasn't actually sure what she had hoped to achieve. she thought about it for a while, before deciding on an answer. "i wanted to help you," she said, slowly. "and you're right. i didn't like what you did, that's why i still want to help you." chaewon herself was surprised at her own answer, but it was her truth. "i don't know how, but i'd like to try."

@❛ ⚜ ₊ chaewon p. ᵖᵉᵃ ᵖʳᶦᶰᶜᵉˢˢ "i do like books. however i despised on how some authors finished their endings with a twist." joohyun told her before looking at the other as she ordered some foods for herself, she's not the type to treat a stranger for a meal. "i know, those books are extraordinary, i've always thought that people won't read it because of the cliché story." she told her before looking at the other.

"you won't leave me alone, would you?" she crack a grin at her face, "aside from me getting caught by you, at what sort of agenda you had to follow me until now?" she asked the princess. "i don't know if you're scared or intrigued by my... monstrous form but i do know is that you don't like what i've done."

@❛ ⚜ ₊ joohyun b. ᵇᵉᵃˢᵗ chaewon rolled her eyes at irene's sarcastic comment, and was about to make a retort of her own, but quickly held her tongue after irene's warning. chaewon had seen the woman with the little thief, and chaewon would rather not be left in some rubbish bin. that was no place for a princess.

at irene's sudden decision to enter some restaurant, chaewon remembered her original intention to treat herself to a good meal. her lovely plans had all been ruined by this maniac of a woman, who right now was dragging her around like some rag doll. chawon heaved yet another exasperated sigh, and found her rag doll self following irene into the restaurant, taking the seat opposite the woman. if there was one thing chaewon hated, it was losing, and if she gave up now, it would essentially be losing to the woman.

"okay, so, irene," chaewon began, emphasising on the name that she had just learnt of. the servants in her kingdom always seemed to like it when the princess called them by their names. chaewon plastered her practised smile on her face, the one that she used to greet the other nobles, and continued, "you like books? i saw that you were looking at the ones on display back outside the bookstore." chaewon hoped that this change in method of approach would lead to somewhere. "i've read them before, actually," she added.

she swore that this is the fourth time she is hearing her stomach begging for food, she sees a nearby restaurant and she fasten her pace towards it. joohyun is really hungry and could eat a whole horse, she haven't been eating well these past few days because of her abnormal sleeping schedules, she quietly walks inside and didn't bother to wait for the other to follow and went to a vacant seat. then she looked at the menu that was already placed on the table and starts to look at what food she could order.

@❛ ⚜ ₊ joohyun b. ᵇᵉᵃˢᵗ the woman's sudden introduction caught chaewon by surprise. "irene?" she repeated the name that the woman had said. it didn't answer any of chaewon's questions, but it was better than all the rude retorts that she had been receiving up till then. "well, irene, you may call me chaewon," she said, returning the favour.

irene's question caught chaewon by surprise, again. chaewon paused for a while, thinking about why she had been so persistent in talking to irene. well, her own stubborness definitely played a part, but chaewon wasn't going to say that. "well, as your fellow fable, i'm trying to, or was trying to, stop you from getting yourself exposed to the world," she began explaining. looking pointedly at the groceries that irene was holding, she continued, "and i don't think you've thanked me for helping you with all that yet." she hummed in thought for a while, pretending to consider irene's second question. "should i? would that get me the thanks i deserve, and the explanation i want?"

@❛ ⚜ ₊ chaewon p. ᵖᵉᵃ ᵖʳᶦᶰᶜᵉˢˢ joohyun keeps staring at the set of books and remembered how she wrote them, whenever she writes it was because she was overwhelmed by her emotions. she ignored the other girl's blabbering at how did she do that to the thief, the hooded woman just stared at books longer before she was snapped back to the reality where the other asks her about her staring at the books and if she knew the author or something.

she looked back at the other girl and spoke, "my name is irene." out of nowhere, not even a single question of introduction, she told the woman her nickname before she continued to walk again. she has a habit of responding to things that aren't on the topic, "why do you keep following me? are you going to follow me to my house too?"

@❛ ⚜ ₊ joohyun b. ᵇᵉᵃˢᵗ chaewon simply couldn't understand the woman, and her empathy could only go so far. what was the point of all that, when the woman herself knew that there was no benefit for her in the end? if chaewon were in the woman's shoes, she'd at least get her money back. "i know that, too," chaewon said, indignantly. "i just don't understand why you'd do all that."

the woman's next statement about how she had handled the man raised many questions in chaewon's head, but chaewon decided that it was best not to ask. she had looked away in the first place for a reason.

chaewon was going to continue berating the woman when the other had suddenly stopped. when chaewon realised that the woman was no longer by her side, she quickly exclaimed, "hey, what gives?" chaewon quickly came to a stop as well, and following the other's line of sight, saw that the woman had stopped in front of a bookshop. particularly, chaewon noticed that the woman was looking at the three books on display.

"this isn't the time to be looking at books!" chaewon said, exasperated. she definitely did not understand this woman. maybe she was some psychopath who beats people up (probably did much worse than just that) and then curls up with a good book afterwards.

chaewon took a closer look at the books, trying to get some insight into the woman's mind. beastly ira... chaewon had read the books before; when she first came out of the storybook, she came to know of how she was just one of many fables, and read up on other stories to get some sort of grasp on this new world. she had stumbled across this trilogy during her research, though she had never known if it was written by a fable like herself, or by a human with vivid imagination.

chaewon turned to look at the woman. "is there something wrong with these books?" chaewon asked, hoping that a friendlier approach would get them somewhere. "you know the author or something?"

@❛ ⚜ ₊ chaewon p. ᵖᵉᵃ ᵖʳᶦᶰᶜᵉˢˢ "i never said i want my dinner back, things cannot be replaced after wasting them." joohyun responded before looking at the other with an utter of annoyance, "he won't be reporting the authorities, i made sure he doesn't speak nor write." she added as she did beat him up and cut his tongue and broke his both arms before dumping him in a trash. but when they passed in a small bookstore, joohyun stopped in front of the glass pane. the other might think she was looking through herself in the mirror but she wasn't. the introverted beast looked at her three featured books that was displayed in front of the bookstore.

those three books are her trilogy book: 'Beastly was a Woman', where she wrote her real experience about how beautiful she was when she was a human and it clicked on the most of the readers about how this book can be both a metaphor and a reality; the two books are fictions but it relates on the first one, 'Beast has a Heart', where she wrote about the beastly woman in love with someone whom she stalks secretly and protects them from any harm without knowing; lastly, 'Beast's Blessing', where the beastly woman has been recognized by her first love but ended up rejected that the woman had a mental breakdown until she moved on and the curse of her beastly form went away and that the story ends. joohyun signed it with her pen named, 'Beastly Ira' where people only know she was the one who wrote these books but they never know who really is the author.

@❛ ⚜ ₊ joohyun b. ᵇᵉᵃˢᵗ [] no worries! hope your finals went well c:

still feeling annoyed from the whole situation, chaewon was quick to spit out a response. "if that happened to me, of course, i would..." chaewon's voice trailed off, as she thought about how she had felt when the thief had first bumped into her at koreatown. she paused for a while, in thought, before she spoke, "i'd feel angry too."

in that instant when her anger had simmered down momentarily, chaewon calmly passed the groceries back to the lady. chaewon could empathise with what the woman felt. money wasn't easily earnt and all those food and money had went to waste.

still, she couldn't agree to the woman's actions. "i'd be angry, of course," she repeated, "but i wouldn't have gone all beast mode on that guy!" she found her original resolve when she first questioned the woman, and asked, "what are you gonna do if he reports this to the authorities?" she then pointed at the groceries in the woman's arms, which was clearly a mere fraction of the original. "and beating the guy up clearly didn't get you back your dinner."

@❛ ⚜ ₊ joohyun b. ᵇᵉᵃˢᵗ the way that the hooded figure, whom chaewon could now tell was a woman now that they were face to face, spoke was infuriating. the woman had a gorgeous face that chaewon dared say rivaled her own, yet the words she spat out were full of venom, despite chaewon's kind intentions all the way from the beginning. the audacity of it all!

"are you crazy?" chaewon hissed. "why would i do that? i wouldn't go and reveal the whole of fabletown to the whole wide world." chaewon had barely finished her sentence when the woman began to walk off. at this point, chaewon's blood was boiling. the one time she tried to do something nice, not only was she ignored, she had to put up with the rudeness of some monster!

yet, chaewon couldn't leave the situation as it is. the whole of fabletown, and more importantly, her own life, was at stake! she took large steps, the groceries still in her arms, trying to catch up with the woman. "how dare you walk away when i'm speaking to you!" chaewon said once she was beside the fellow fable.

"anyway, as i was saying, i'm not that stupid," chaewon continued, "unlike you!" looking pointedly at the woman, she questioned the woman's actions. "what do you think you were doing? taking off your glamour ring in front of a human? do you want to get exiled, or something?" still hugging the groceries close to her chest, chaewon kept pace with the woman, expecting a reply at the very least.

@❛ ⚜ ₊ chaewon p. ᵖᵉᵃ ᵖʳᶦᶰᶜᵉˢˢ joohyun could only hope no one saw it but only one had, and now the one who had helped her picked up the fallen groceries was the one in front of her. straightforwardly, she told her that she's a fable which the other had gasped sharply but eventually only to crack a chuckle. her old habits starts to show, her sarcastic smile and uptight attitude was the reason why she got cursed in the first place.

"what are you going to do? report it to the authorities?" she sarcastically mouthed before scoffing softly, "no one will believe you anyway. so don't bother doing it anyways." the beastly girl added as she walked passed by the other as she tries to stop her by walking in front of her. it's not only that her dinner is ruined, someone also saw what she did to the thief.

she felt nothing but nervousness and frustration, she starts thinking about what was going to happen next. what if the girl really is going to report it to the police? what if they described the suspect to be a hooded woman who only hurt the thief because she's hungry and the thief ruined her meal? she starts to fiddle her fingers inside her pockets as she kept walking along the sidewalk. then joohyun heard her stomach growling, that's when she realized she left her groceries from the woman who helped her.

@❛ ⚜ ₊ joohyun b. ᵇᵉᵃˢᵗ chaewon's questions were met with silence. that was a first; no one had ever dared to ignore her and the words she uttered. it seemed so impossible that chaewon began running through all the other possibilities in her head: maybe the person had a speech difficulty, or maybe the person was shocked to the point that they couldn't speak. after a while, chaewon was about to prod the person again, when they got up and /ran/.

chaewon was flabbergasted, to say the least.

she watched, agape, as the hooded person took off into the busy streets of koreatown in the same direction as the thief. not only had she been ignored, chaewon's help had been outright /rejected/. the audacity of it all! however, the whole situation was so absurd that chaewon couldn't even be mad.

chaewon looked at the groceries in her arms, then looked at the figure that was growing smaller as the distance between them widened. sighing once more, chaewon began to make her way after the hooded person. after all, it had seemed to weird to just leave the groceries on the floor now.

chaewon ran and ran (though it was jogging at best) after the person, but because the person was running like they were in the olympics, and because chaewon was weighed down by the bits and pieces in her arms, eventually, chaewon lost sight of the hooded figure. having reached the outskirts of koreatown, on a quieter street, she slowed down to catch her breath and look out for the person.

out of the corner of her eye, chaewon saw some movement happening in a darkened alleyway. she walked over a peeked in, hoping to see the hooded person. instead, she saw the thief being pummelled by what looked to be a monster. the gears in her head turned, and chaewon concluded that it had to be someone from fabletown. as a fellow fable, she had to do something!

but, for now, the scene was way too awful for a princess to witness. deciding to focus on this issue rather than the hooded figure, she turned away and leaned against the wall, plugging in her earpieces to drown out the sounds.

eventually, chaewon heard footsteps approaching from the alleyway. she whipped her head around to see the hooded person from earlier. chaewon took a large step so that she was standing directly in front of the person. she would not be ignored again. "hey! you're a fable, right," chaewon asserted. she nodded in the direction of the alleyway that the person came out from. "i saw what happened there."

joohyun was still focusing herself on not showing her beastly form to anyone, but when the other approached her. she was still a bit surprised, not just the thief just pushed her but the other girl picked up what has left on her groceries. those eggs couldn't be saved, some fresh milk that were squished by that damn thief and her supposed dinner for tonight, the ribeye steak. its juicy substance was spilled and joohyun could only stare at the disaster.

the other still asked the poor introvert but she had no response. now she managed to control her anger and could only focus this emotion towards the thief, she didn't replied the other but she got up quickly and start chasing the thief on her own. tonight is the right time to hurt someone, for joohyun, her essential needs had been trampled by the guy who stole the deliciousness of her meal.

she ran fast, and faster! she followed the scent of thief and good thing, no one in this area is around to see how she will beat this thief up. joohyun's eyes redden once she found the thief hiding in one of the alleyways, "you..." she spoke with a faint grunt under her breath. as she starts walking towards the thief, taking off her ring that turned out to be her glamour to conceal her beastly look, dark aura starts to spread around them as the hooded girl slowly turned herself into her true form. much larger than an average height of a man, bulk physique, fur as dark as night, eyes flared like a ruby glistening through the light. the thief couldn't do anything, he dropped the purse out of fear.

once she was fully transformed, she was inches closer to him. she growled lowly, before strangling the thief, lifted him up in the air to take a good look on his cowardly expression, "you... ruined... my... dinner!" joohyun's lowly, almost diabolic voice send the other to scream but she starts beating him up until he went unconscious. then she threw him inside the garbage so that no one could see how badly he was beaten. joohyun starts to exercises her breathing to calm down as the problem has been resolved before she wears back the ring, going back to her human form, pulled up her hood once again and hides her glamoured ring within her hoodie pockets as she goes out of the alleyway like nothing happened, completely forgetting about her groceries from someone.

@❛ ⚜ ₊ joohyun b. ᵇᵉᵃˢᵗ after a successful exorcism (successful in a sense that she got paid, whether the ghosts were actually exorcised is another question), chaewon had taken herself to koreatown to enjoy a good, authentic korean meal with her hard-earned cash.

however, chaewon's happy thoughts of food were interrupted when some guy bumped into her. the audacity of it all! chaewon quickly looked up from her phone to see the evildoer, immediately calling out, "how dare you! watch where you're going!" but the hooded figure had already made quite the distance within those few seconds. noticing the wallet in his hand as he ran through the crowd, it dawned upon chaewon that he was likely a pickpocket. if chaewon was back in her kingdom, she would have sent her guards chasing the criminal and made sure he served the due punishment for bumping into her (and stealing, of course). but this was new york, and there was no way that chaewon would be running after some thief.

gritting her teeth, chaewon turned back, deciding to move on. however, just as she was about to continue, the sight of a person sprawled on the floor, surrounded by various food on the ground, stopped chaewon in her tracks. chaewon couldn't tell if the person was the victim of the theft, but they had clearly been knocked down by the thief.

chaewon had half a mind to walk past the person and make her way to her korean restaurant, but there was a gnawing feeling in her heart. maybe it was the fact that the person, like her, had suffered in the hands of that thief, or maybe it was the fact that chaewon still had it in her to care. either way, chaewon heaved a sigh as she gave in to that feeling.

chaewon walked over and bent down, picking up whatever that could be salvaged, even if there wasn't much. she then carried whatever she had picked up and brought it to the hooded person on the floor, who had been sitting quietly for quite some time. if she had been in her kingdom, chaewon might have gotten a guard to check in on the person while she carried on with her day. but this was new york, so instead, chaewon hesistantly asked, "i picked up the stuff you dropped and... are you okay?" chaewon paused for another moment to think, before she spoke again. "do you need my help to get up?"

joohyun often goes out by night whenever she's feeling hungry and she had no foods on her fridge, now she had to go out and buy some groceries, also eating a delicious meal on the way. she used to go out normally but in her 18th year something really went horrible on her, now people she used to love her shunned her away. it has been 8 years she's isolated in her own apartment, nothing but writing and living alone. every time she goes out, she tightly pulled on her hood and wears a specs, she didn't want her to be noticed. her confidence went six-feet under, she's no longer the heiress of her family, despite having a face of a goddess.

after buying some groceries, her stomach grumbles as she walks out of the store, swallowing her own saliva while her other hand was holding her abdomen. she feels safer in night time, less people on the streets the better. she feels like a vampire at this point, going out at night and sleeping all day. as soon as she was going to the other platform, someone shoved her by surprised, making joohyun fell on the ground and her bought groceries sprawled on the stone pavement. it was a thief, holding a purse in his hand and running away from those who he stole from. she went back to her groceries and saw that some of her foods were torn up, breaks as soon as it lands on the ground. her anger kicks in but she tries to calm herself down, her eyes slowly redden but she tries not to engage herself with them or else people will get hurt because of her. joohyun closed her eyes and tries to count herself inside her mind as she tries to calm down while still sitting up on the ground, trying not to break her beastly form on the loose.
