If the beta truly intended on killing him he’d already have done it - he had more than a million chances. The man in front of him was calling someone, but whoever it was, they didn’t pick up, making the male even more impatient. At least it became a reason for him to leave, giving Hyeonjoong’s body a break. However, he wasn’t naive to believe his torment was over - the imminence of the father’s presence was enough to mess with the head of the mafia member, and the alpha was far from being safe.

However, it wasn’t surprising that the beta was treating him as a problematic loner after what he had done, just a bit paradoxical when the other was a professional criminal. The family situation seemed complex, and he wondered what kind of environment his baby would be born into, when his own backgroung didn’t help much. At least the screwed up way of thinking of the father was his hope of staying alive. @Kim Jiwoongᵇᵉᵗᵃ Being freed from restraints was supposed to be a relief, but in that situation, it was just another stressful factor. It was unthinkable to try something when Hyeonjoong was surrounded by strong men, very likely armed to the teeth, with nothing to trust besides his own fists. All he could do was to defend himself, his arm covering his ribcage to lessen the impact of the kick. Fortunately, his large muscles also created a barrier that protected his bones from breaking. The alpha had been beaten up regularly since birth, it would take more than a few hits to break him, be it either physically or mentally. The one-sided pain was a travel to the past, directly to his childhood.

Only when the bat came in that his body seemed to take in the damage. His knees wobbled at the hit to them, and he found himself on the floor after the following strike. Good thing his hands weren’t tied or he would have landed face first on the ground. The alpha had no choice but to look at the leader when his hair was pulled, his eyes squinting from the pain. It was wrong, Hyeonjoong never missed a day of work and his students and fellow professors would definitely call the police. It was a relief when the phone rang and the sequence of strikes finally came to a halt. Hyeonjoong couldn’t die there. Not because of himself, but because of the pup. His child was his new reason to live.

The phone rings no longer than 20-30 minutes in of Jiwoong ‘s session with the alpha . He threw his head back as he hears the phone ring . “ who the Is it ?” He questions while kicking the alpha down again .

@Kim Jiwoong Hyeonjoong pressed his eyes shut at the sudden incoming light amidst the relative darkness. The sound of footsteps then echoed across the room, and he could tell a large group was approaching before he even parted his eyelids again. There was one man in the middle and several others following him, it wasn`t hard to figure out who was the leader or what his intentions were. The alpha watched the other man attentively but in silence. The scent, the words, the tone, everything screamed that his child`s uncle was burning in rage and he knew better than to incite someone who was already on the verge of killing him. However, he wouldn`t keep his head down or apologize either. Showing weakness would only lead the beta to walk all over him. The answer was a cool attitude and silence.

“Yes, I’m Hyeonjoong,” he replied to the only question that didn’t seem a hundred percent rhetorical. The other could beat him up in the peace of knowing he hadn’t caught the wrong man. A frown showed up on the face of the alpha when his head was poked with the wooden object, though it was just from the physical discomfort and not from fear. He didn’t hesitate to stand up when told to do so, only taking longer than usual because of his tied hands and feet. If he was going to be beaten up, he’d take it like a man.

@Kim Jiwoong Days after the ‘incident,’ Hyeonjoong was already back to his normal daily life. It was surprising he made it home to begin with, and even more surprising no mafia underling showed up at his door the next morning. He had enough time to visit his parents and redirect them to a safer location, for the pain in his shoulder to be mostly gone, and even to send the final grades of his students. At least he wouldn’t die before he properly closed the semester.

However, his luck was meant to come to an end. It was summer break for undergraduate students; the usual liveliness of the campus was replaced by the occasional researcher coming out from their lab. Hyeonjoong was one of those few, leaving the building every day in the evening. The trees, bushes, and the relative darkness turned the university into the perfect spot to trap the professor. He couldn’t even tell where they were coming from when the smell of chloroform reached his nostrils.

How long did it take for him to open his eyes again? It was impossible to tell. The place he now found himself in was sealed, with no open windows and only a flickering light illuminating the wide room. He tried to move, but neither his wrists nor ankles budged - the texture of rope against his skin gave away what was keeping them in place. Screaming, if he was foolish enough to try, would be meaningless with the duct tape that forced his lips shut. There was nothing to do except wait for his destiny to play out.
