how powerful should i make my character?
so we're not going to go into every single ability here because that is what the character resource page is for, as well as the superpower wiki. here is where we're going to talk about exactly how to classify your characters power level and what is means if you've decided to give them super powers.
it's going to be pretty straightforward really. mainly because we're trusting roleplayers to be.. well, i don't want to say smart because it sounds condescending but we're hoping that we don't have a situation where everybody is applying as the most powerful superhero or supervillain in the universes because it then the fun is ruined :( you can have a powerful character, don't get me wrong, but try to keep the roleplay balanced; at least at the start.
you're more than welcome to have your characters abilities grow and develop as they do but really, not every single hero or villain is going to be superman right off the bat. this isn't to say that you can't have a powerful character(because i, saorsa, have made my villain pretty damn powerful) but if we find that too many people are applying as powerful characters, we will put a cap on it and ask some participants to consider nerfing their characters temporarily.

what are the classifications of power levels?
there are two canon classification schedules to follow in legacy.
the first determines how powerful your character is and the second determines how much of a risk they are. generally, if you're high on one scale, you'll likely be high on the other but this isn't always the case. do what feels best and suits your character the most. villains are most likely to have both scales applied to them.

the palmer scale
the palmer scale determines what class of power your character falls under. the scale is as follows:
omega: omega level inidividuals are those who possess enough power to cause apocalyptic levels of destruction, with no visible weaknesses and cannot be feasibly defeated. we are not accepting omega level heroes or villains.
alpha: alpha level metas and mutants are massively powerful but have defined limitations and weaknesses. by themselves, alphas can be a threat to entire teams and generally operate on their own. we are accepting very limited numbers of alpha heroes and villains (2/5).
beta: the highest level of what can be considered mainstream raw power. most heroes and villains fall somewhere under this category.
gamma: a slighty lower power level compared to betas in terms of raw power. a small team of gamma-level metas and mutants can be considered threats to both beta and alpha level heroes/villains.
delta: delta labelled heroes are at the bottom of the mainstream metahuman and mutant power level. a team of deltas will be considered amazing to any classification below them and none powered individuals but, in the grand scheme of things, aren't particularly impressive. a team of delta's will be able to handle one beta with great difficulty.
epsilon: heroes that fall under the epsilon category will generally have one or two useful powers but will not be able to go up against any heroes or villains designated delta and above without great difficulty(beta and above will end in the epsilons death 100% of the time)
zeta: the weakest you can be and still be considered a hero. zeta's will have powers that aren't useful or powerful enough to be of any special consideration.
*please note that this scale is not 100% accurate as there can be different levels or power/usefulness to each category.

the sharma scale
the sharma scale determines what class of risk your character falls under. the scale is as follows:
local area threat: immediate danger to a single or small group of persons within a short distance of the individual.
city threat: able to do significant damage to or destroy a city. most villians will fall under this category or under the national threat category.
national threat: poses a significant threat to an entire country or countries. most villians will fall under this category or under the city threat category.
continental threat: is able to massively destroy or take over an entire continent with minor difficulty if unchallenged. we are accepting very limited numbers of continental threat heroes and villains at this time (2/3).
planetary threat: the individual poses as an immediate threat to the planet, including, but not limited too, taking over the world, massive destructive capabilities, etc. we are accepting very limited numbers of planetary threat heroes and villains at this time (0/3).
stellar threat: if left unchallenged, the individual possesses the power to credibely threaten star systems, galaxies, etc. we are accepting very limited numbers of stellar threat heroes and villains (0/2).
universal threat: is able to conquer or destroy the universe as we know it. we are not accepting universal threat level heroes or villains.
