a cheonmin clan consisting of household nobis, who chose this path to escape crushing poverty and are known for their good relations with yangbans for years, often residing near them in Sunchang, Jeolla-do. under unknown circumstances the current living members of the family moved back to Yeongam after rumors of improper behaviors and scandalous affairs surfaced. not much is known about their whereabouts ever since, as they remain isolated from the public eye and are believed to engage with farm labor as non-resident nobis, still tied to their yangban master despite the speculated family conflict between them.

the han family, house of the eternal baptisia, is a jungin clan that has their origins from inje, gangwondo. with the clan having large influence over import and trade, the family has been fairing well due to their continuous participations in the developing trade process. as their family dips their hands into many types of practices, the lineage is well known to have scholars, scribes and ceramists to which enables their clan to have a famed image of non-conventional expertise in many categories.

❁ the cheon family, house of the falcon, a sangmin clan that has long settled in goseong. the family is known for their expertise in domesticating animals particularly falcons, practicing falconry for generations and had once led the office of eungbang before it was abolished early 1800s. prior to its abolishment, the previous head of the family was held responsible for a rampant falcon that had ruined the then-king's hunt therefore leading to the cheons stripped of the title and demoted from yangban to that of sangmin class. despite their demotion, the family still uphold falconry practices and remain to be one of well known falconers around. they provide private falconary for the higher class during winter.

from a small city called pohang in the northern gyeongsang province, the hans have always been a family of strong soldiers and warriors. it was an honour for the family to serve those of higher status, being given the name 'the family of blades' for their expertise in martial arts, swordsmanship, horseriding, and strength. they are loyal to those they serve, which explains why they have a long line of loyalty to the parks. han dongyeol, a retired bodyguard and right-hand man to park yeongjun (yeonghan's father) and it was natural that dongwook would be the same for duke park despite being the youngest son of the hans.

— a cheonmin class of ilpae gisaengs. they are the flowers of hanseong known for their beauty and artistic prowess in singing, dancing, and poetry. they are of the highest tier of gisaengs and are unable to entertain after 30. it was first established by a woman by the name of "seo jinhye" and while her background remains a mystery to most, it was said that she was revered as a lady who brought men from all over the country to her doorstep when she danced. she was a madame but she was also a mother to most girls she adopted. they all had one thing in common: the want and desire for a new beginning. after her death, the gisaeng house, sook, and title of madame went to "seo rim", her eldest and longest adoptive daughter, who after leaving for tamna, passed her title onto her adoptive sister, seo min.

A cheonmin family with roots dating back to the founding of goryeo, the Ims of Jindo from the Jeollanam-do region currently reside within the sea-side villages of Jindo oucasted from society. A matriarchial family known for birthing powerful tanggol mudangs, the House of the Carp has fallen into the shadows of society with the rise of Joseon's Confucian philosophy. A family of eight, there is not much known about the Ims aside from rumor of the family being cursed with madness and a penchant for misfortune.

A Jungin clan from the Jeollanam-do region, mainly based in Mokpo. Well-known for getting filthy rich from their international trade, and for using loans to lock the lower classes into a lifetime of free labour and other nasty things. Unfortunately, they only had one child and that child refused to continue the family line. Upon the passing of the heads of the household, the heir seems to have given everything away and vanished.

stories of black cats often tell of misfortune and unluckiness to whomever they come across, and as such, black cats roam the streets without homes. the bang clan is a cheonmin clan of gisaengs comprised of their own black cats - orphans unwanted by society or their families, left to fend for themselves. mother bang finds these orphans and takes them to mokju, where many of them stay. they are raised to take the pain and suffering the world has given them and turn it into art and creative expression. this gives their performances a unique quality to them; they may not have the professional elegance and poise of other gisaeng houses, but their performances bring a haunting and mysterious aura that draws viewers in.
